Spring 2010

A Webquest of Assistive Technology

Page 2: Assistive Technology WebQuest

You are a 3rd grade teacher that has a few students that require you to differentiate your instruction. Kelvin, Dominick, and Shiranta have ADHD. Sarah has an auditory disability, and requires a special device in order to hear. In addition, you have a number of students that have mild learning disabilities that impact all areas, especially reading and writing.

As you prepare for the school year, you ask yourself, "What resources do I have in order to help me meet my students' needs?" (Scenario and Webquest can be found here)

The Scenario

Inclusion: the practice, in which students with special educational needs spend most or all of their time with non-disabled students (from Wikipedia)

Least Restrictive Environment: means that a student who has a disability should have the opportunity to be educated with non-disabled peers, to the greatest extent possible (from Wikipedia)
