The%last%quarter%of%2013%showed%a%very%modest%surplus%of%£6.54%which%was%very%pleasing.%It%doesn't%sounda%lot,%but%there%were%a%lot%of%expenses%incurred%in%this%period%which%makes%this%small%profit%a%very%positiveresult%over%this%period.

In%October,%the%accounts%paid%out%£900%in%respect%of%charities%related%to%the%Loseley%shoot.%All%of%the%Loseley%income%had%been%accounted%for%in%September,%so%there%was%no%income%offset%against%this.%We%also%spent%£205%in%respect%of%gifts%toLord%Onslow%and%his%mother,%Countess%Onslow,%as%a%thank%you%for%the%use%of%their%land%during%the%year.%We%are%workingwith%Lord%Onslow%on%a%couple%of%events%he%intends%to%hold%in%the%near%future%which%will%provide%some%further%repaymentof%his%generosity%in%allowing%us%to%shoot%rent%free.

December%also%resulted%in%a%cost%of%£761%for%food%and%bottles%for%the%Xmas%shoot.%And%finally,%we%spent%a%further%£399%ona%new%barrow%for%the%Battue%trap%and%a%new%set%of%superEduper%remotes.

The%year%has%been%very%successful%for%the%Club%on%a%number%of%measures.%The%restructure%to%the%subscriptions%with%lowercosts%coupled%with%normal%renewal%fallout%resulted%in%us%having%63%members%following%renewal%this%year.%By%the%end%of%theyear%we%were%back%up%to%80%members%and%will%seek%to%grow%this%number%up%to%100%before%closing%membership.%This%wasone%of%the%most%successful%recruitment%years%for%new%members.

We%had%a%record%breaking%Loseley%year%with%our%retained%profit%of%£4,099%being%double%our%previous%record%Loseley%year.Average%attendance%including%guests%for%2013%was%52%per%month,%compared%to%previous%years;%40.83%in%2012,%39.91%in%2011,%44.08%in%2010,%40.35%in%2009.%We%have%spent%£6,800%on%five%new%traps,%£1,192%on%Container%costs,%and%a%further%£1,650%onother%Club%equipment.%We%have%continued%to%subsidise%the%Tony%Warsop%Memorial%Shoot%costing%£858.

At%the%end%of%2013,%having%taken%in%£735.80%more%than%we%have%spent%and%having%£304%more%in%stock%of%cartridges,%I%thinkwe%can%be%proud%of%what%we%have%achieved%this%year.

Hi all I’ve been Club Secretary for 6 months now and the ‘honeymoon period‘is well & truly over! I wasn’t tasked with much at first but now I’m in thethick of it - the Christmas Shoot, AGM & Tony Warsop Memorial Shootas well as the regular monthly shoots and all the other stuff that goes with my role in the Club. Not that I’m complaining mind - I did sign upfor this gig and I’m still ‘embracing the challenge’ with a smile on my face!

My first organisational task was to establish attendees, helpers, raffle prize donatorsand pie choices of all 70 members for the Christmas shoot. Not a difficult task you might think given modern technology (gone are the days of pigeon post)! Not so I’m afraid. 3 weeks, 4 group e-mails, multiple texts, several answer phone messages & a few personal phone calls later I finally managed to get 69/70 responses. Life is too short people. I too have a family, a business to run & a social life. I will be involved with a lot of the organisation for the Tony Warsop Shoot this year and beg you all toplease give prompt responses to communications. It will be very much appreciated.

Enough of my grumbling and on a more positive & prettier note Caroline Cheesman is now the Membership Secretary (taking over from James Bryant) and also now monthly shoot ‘helper rota’ organiser (taking over from Will Hoad). She agreed to dothis whilst on holiday in Florida in October (maybe too many Bud’s Caroline?) and has thrown herself into these roles with faultless competence & enthusiasm. Thank you Caroline, you’re doing a great job.

Nominations for the Special Achievement Award 2013 (to be presented at the AGM) werediscussed by the Committee at our December meeting. There were only 2 nominations and I’m very happy to report that, by a unanimous vote, Matt Oldland will be the recipient. Matt was 3rd in the 2012/13 winter series, A Class winner for 5 shoots out of 9 shot(including 3 consecutive), July skeet competition winner, A Class winner & 2nd overall at the Tony Warsop Memorial Shoot. He also represents the Club at other shooting events,is key in setting up monthly shoots (even when he can’t stay to shoot with us), principle inliaising with Lord Onslow & Clandon game keeper, Loseley organisation & management, work parties, tools & heavy plant etc. All in all a cracking shot (if he doesn’t showboat),loyal, committed, generous and a very humble invaluable member of the Committee & Club.I’m sure you will all agree. Well done Matt.

Please don’t forget the Club’s AGM is on Thursday 13th February at Canada House, Bisleyat 8pm where not only can you have your say about the way the Club is run, receive a trophy &/or congratulate those receiving trophies but also enjoy a splendid complimentarybuffet.

The Tony Warsop Memorial Shoot this year will be at Woodland Persuits, Reigate on Saturday 28th June and Loseley will be on Sunday 28th September. More information about both will be forwarded nearer those times. That’s it from me for now & hope tosee you soon.

For%the%months%of%September,%October%&%November%we%were%asked%to%move%our%shoot%to%a%different%part%of%the%estate%in%order%to%avoid%disrupting%the%game%shooting%operations%at%Clandon%Park.%This%we%duly%did%and%the%alternate%area%presented%some%new%challenges%in%setting%a%safe,%varied%and%interesting%layout.%Access%and%parking%weren't%ideal%but%we%did%have%the%welcome%addition%of%Daz's%Diner%from%October%onwards%for%hotfood%and%drinks%before,%during%and%after%the%shoot.

The%Christmas%shoot%in%December%saw%us%return%to%our%regular%location%and,%knowing%in%advance%the%larger%number%of%shooters%expected,%a%decision%was%made%by%the%committee%to%put%on%the%60%bird%shoot%over%8%stands.%That%was%possible%only%because%of%the%huge%investment%made%in%new%traps%and%equipment%during%%the%last%year%and%the%ongoing%generous%loan%to%the%club%of%a%couple%of%traps%by%Gary%Evans%which%we%are%still%'looking%after'%postELoseley.%The%setting%up%of%the%8%stands%went%very%smoothly,%in%no%small%part%due%to%the%preEshoot%organisation%of%the%setting%up%teams%(pods)%by%our%newMembership%Secretary,%Caroline%Cheesman.%Everyone%who%helped%on%the%day%contributed%to%a%successful%and%recordEbreaking%club%shoot.

In%2014%I'll%endeavour%to%do%my%bit%for%the%club%in%providing%a%safe%and%enjoyable%shoot%each%month%for%all%of%our%members,%whatever%their%ability.%All%feedback%on%the%layouts%or%setting%up%etc.,%good%or%bad,%will%be%greatly%appreciated.
