INTRODUCTION
This report covers the collecting, processing, and assay results on till samples taken from backhoe pitting and trenching.
The programme was carried out at intervals by the writer between October 26, 1983 and June 4, 1985. It was performed wholly in claims L613378 and -79 in the Nj Lot 12, Con. I, Beatty Twp.
SAMPLING
In October 1983, five pits were dug with a backhoe on magnetic highs in search of bedrock. One pit, 83-B1, encountered till under8 ft. of varved clay, and a sample was taken at a depth of 17 ft.
In October, 1984, 15 pits were dug in search of other locales where it was suspected till might be in reach of the backhoe. Till was located in seven pits spread through a north-south distance of 600 ft. and east-west distance of 300 ft. Bedrock was located at a depth of9 ft. in one pit (No. 5) indicating the till being sampled is probably near bedrock in all the other pits.
The location of the pits and a description are given in Appendix 1; Appendix 2 is a sketch showing the location of the pits and samples.
All samples were taken at the lowest part of the pits with sufficient material being taken to give a 25-50 pound sample for processing.
PROCESSING UNIT
The processing unit used consisted of four screens stacked in an aluminium frame plus a sluice-box.
The screens are mounted in trays 20" x 20", and their opening sizes are j in., 6 m, 16m, and 26 m. The screens are stacked at 4-9nch intervals one above the other, with the final product through the 26m passing down the sluice-box.
The sluice-box is 7 ft. long and 8 in. wide, and is lined with rubber waffling matting.
2.
The volume of watter passing through the unit is controlled, as well as the slope of the sluice-box adjusted, so as to give maximum riffling effect.
PROCESSING PROCEDURE
Each sample was washed through the screens; a hand is used to facilitate the breaking-up of any semi-consolidated material and to speed up the passage through a specific screen. , Care is taken not to overload the screens or the riffle-matting. As the sample is washed through the screen, a lookout is maintained for mineralized clasts. A watch is also kept for evidence of visible gold on the riffle-matting.
Riffling is continued until the sample has been reduced to approximately two ounces of concentrates. In some cases, hand- panning is resorted to to reduce the sample to this size. The sample is then dried and the magnetite content removed by a hand-magnet. After this, the remaining concentrate is briefly examined under the microscope for any build-up in sulphides and of gold grains. It is then submitted for a total gold assay.
PROGRAMME fit RESULTS
In the Fall of 1983, backhoe pitting on magnetic highs located till below varved clays in one pit, - namely 83-B1. The presence of till came as a surprise as it was not considered likely so close to the surface in the area.
A radiometric survey (ref. 4) indicated a low-lying area, in the northwest corner of L613379 and southwest corner of L613378 claims, was two to three times more radioactive than normal for a swamp. This tended to indicate that a few boulder erratics occuring in this area and previously noted in ref. l was not underlain by varved clays so characteristic of the area as a whole but probably by a till. For this reason, a programme of backhoe pitting and till sampling was initiated.
A total of 15 pits was dug in the Fall of 1984, and of these six encountered a till. Counting a pit dug in 1983, - 83-Bl, this gave a total of
seven pits giving till samples. All of these seven pits fell in the area suggested as different by the radiometric survey.
The till encountered in all the pits was loosely consolidated, grey to tan -coloured, with a mixture of relatively small pebbles and occasionally a large (several feet in diameter) boulder erratic. There was no evidence of bedding or sorting to suggest it was an outwas.-h. type deposit. Likewise it did not resemble a true basal type in that it was not a hard consolidated type with a mix of variously sized and shaped pebbles, cobbles, etc. The milky discharge from the processing unit indicated it had a significant rock-flour content.
The pebbles, etc. , were a mix of greenstones, granites and gneisses. No mineralized or diagnostically altered types were noted. Muscovite was an obvious constituent of the granites and gneiss pebbles and also in the sand fraction.
During the processing, no gold grains were noted on the riffle iats, and also none during the microscopic examination of the concenti trace of sulphides was noted in the concentrates of all samples.
The assay results as given by the assay laboratories are attached as Appendices 3 and 4. These results are summarized in Appendix 5. As indicated in the latter, a distinctly measurable amount of gold up to 0. 04 oz. per ton was present in the concentrates; however, when redistributed to the total sample, the amount present in them is small.
In summary, the programme indicated the presence of measurable amounts of gold in the concentrates from till samples taken from the pits on the claims. The total goldiruthe till is probably not more than that normally present. The evidence also suggests the till is not a true basal type but a ground moraine type deposited by a retreating glacier.

Enclosed are two copies of a Notice of Intent with statements listing a reduced rate of assessment work credits to be allowed for a technical survey. Please forward one copy to the recorded holder of the claims and retain the other. In approximately fifteen days from the above date, a final letter of approval of these credits will be sent to you. On receipt of the approval letter, you may then change the work entries on the claim record sheets. For further information, if required, please contact Mr. R.J. Pichette at 416/965-4888.

Notice of Intent
for Technical Reports
1985 09 03
2.8342/284
An examination of your survey report indicates that the requirements of The Ontario Mining Act have not been fully met to warrant maximum assessment work credits. This notice is merely a warning that yotj will not be allowed the number of assessment work days credits that you expected and also that in approximately 15 days from the above date, the mining recorder will be authorized to change the entries on his record sheets to agree with the enclosed statement. Please note that until such time as the recorder actually changes the entry on the record sheet, the status of the claim remains unchanged.
If you are of the opinion that these changes by the mining recorder will jeopardize your claims, you may during the next fifteen days apply to the Mining and Lands Commissioner for an extension of time. Abstracts should be sent with your application.
If the reduced rate of credits does not jeopardize the status of the claims then you need not seek relief from the Mining and Lands Commissioner and this Notice of Intent may be disregarded.
If your survey was submitted and assessed under the "Special Provision-Performance and Coverage" method and you are of the opinion that a re-appraisal under the "Man-days" method would result in the approval of a greater number of days credit per claim, you may, within the said fifteen day period, submit assessment work breakdowns listing the employees names, addresses and the dates and hours they worked. The new work breakdowns should be submitted direct to the Land Management Branch, Toronto. The report will be re-assessed and a new statement of credits based on actual days worked will be .issued.
