In the Arc Spray Process pair of electrically conductive wires are melted by means of an electric arc. The molten material is atomized by compressed air and propelled towards the substrate surface. The impacting molten particles on the substrate rapidly solidify to form a coating. This arc spray process carried out correctly is called a "cold process" (relative to the substrate material being coated) as the substrate temperature can be kept low during processing avoiding damage, metallurgical changes and distortion to the substrate material.
สําหรับระบบ Arc spray เปนระบบที่ใชการอารคกันของลวดโลหะสองเสนที่มีกระแสไฟฟาไหลผานทําใหลวดโลหะทั้งสองเสน เกิดการหลอมละลายพรอมกัน และจะมี Pressure air ประมาณ 60 PSI มาชวยทําใหลวดที่หลอมละลายแตกตัวเปนฝอยละอองน้ําโลหะหลอมเหลว พุงเขาชนชิ้นงานดวยความเร็วสูงและปะทะกับผิวช้ินงาน เกิดเปนผิว Coating ทั้งนี้สามารถพนพอกวัสดุโลหะและโลหะผสมไดเกือบทุกชนิด

This process has been developed to produce extremely high spray velocity. The method is basically a high pressure, fuel (kerosene, acetylene, propylene and hydrogen) and oxygen are fed into the chamber, combustion produces a hot high pressure flame which is forced down a nozzle increasing its velocity. Powder may be fed axially into the HVOF combustion chamber under high pressure or fed through the side of larval type nozzle. Typical characteristics of HVOF coatings include bond strengths in excess of 10,000 psi, hardness in the 55 - 72 Rc range, high density, and excellent resistance to reciprocating wear and fretting.

Spray and Fuse (also known as Spray welding or Hard facing) is one of the thermal spray process that Associated Wear Coatings has specialized in since the company opened it's doors. The Spray and Fuse process consists of spraying a powdered alloy (nickel or cobalt based) on a part and then the sprayed overlay is fused to the base metal by torch or furnace heat.
