Space : a Human adventure
Going into space is the dream of mankind Icarus, Leonardo da Vinci, Lielienthal = dream of aeronautic Jules Verne, Hergé = dream of flying to the moon
Yuri Gagarin: around the earth on April 12, 1961 Frank Borman, James Lowell and William Anders: Moon tour on
December 24, 1964 Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin: first Moon walk on July 20, 1969 Eugene Cernan: last Moon walk on 19 December, 1972
But only 500 people (including 1% “tourists”) could go in Space up to now…

Astrium Space Plane Concept
4 PAX + 1 pilot in a vehicle “business jet like”, equipped with rocket engine: Wide cabin offering excellent
comfort and numerous large windows
2 business jet standard aero engines
Lox Methane environment friendly Astrium developed rocket propulsion
Space Plane scheduled for minimum 10 years of operation, 1 flight per week, with regular exchange of the rocket engine every 30 flights
The development and production activity will involve the European sites of Astrium, of the EADS group and other industrial partners

Competitive advantages
Comfort Cabin and seat specific design, large cabin volume, numerous large windows Attractive cabin by Marc Newson famous designer
Safety Safe concept: back-off provided at all points of trajectory
Safe descent / landing thanks to high aerodynamic performances and re-ignited turbofans
Safe design by experienced aerospace group EADS, careful and extensive flight testing scheduled
Low Operation Cost Business jet + regular exchange of Rocket Engine

Business aspects
Increasing suborbital Space Tourism Market Several thousands of passengers per year in the world in 2020
Steady production of several vehicles per year to satisfy the market
Innovative funding solutions for a space project… Mainly Private funding (Private financial partners, Industrial Risk sharing
partners) with payback coming from commercial operations Other funding as a complement (regions, Innovation agencies …), based
on technological activities and local development interest

What can this project bring?
Credible business growth opportunity New funding for Space development, not taping institutional space funding Regular Production activity
Birth of a new business Growth potential towards number of spin off missions (scientific, homeland
security…) Big step toward future transportation systems (high speed transportation, quick
access to space)
Enhance technological knowledge Reusable propulsion, progress toward environment friendly clean transportation
vehicle light structures, light avionics…
And… bring Space closer to people
