EDITORIAL COLUMN

We have hitherto released two issues of ASTROVISION, E-Journal, continuously.

We are extremely elated at the overwhelming response and encouragements received from various quarters. The response by article-writers also has become more prominent and important. It shall be our sincere endeavours to bring about more and more articles in various Astro sytems such as KP, Vedic, Jaimini, Western, and other allied subjects like Palmistry, Numerology, Astro-Numerology, Reikhi, Hindu Mythology, Yoga, etc., besides inculcating the culture of continues and flawless improvements. The E-Journal would like to go in greater heights and will strive for bringing out the hard copy, for which the E-Journal may have to be made a “pay nominal fee” type. When coming to the current events, as a part of the political process, the US Presidential primaries are underway in a great way in USA, the most powerful country of the world. The current and the 43rd US President, George Walker Bush belongs to Republican party, was in power for the last two terms, and will leave office on 20th January 2009. Many political pundits feel that this time when elections are held in November 2008, the next President will be from Democratic party. In the Republican side of primaries war veteran and one time PoW, Sen. John McCain is much ahead, and is likely to win the nomination of his party. Whereas in the Democratic side, fight between former first lady and New York Senator Mrs. Hillary Clinton and Illinois Senator Barack Obama is a neck-to-neck affair until the time of writing this editorial. Either of the remaining Democratic party’s contestants such as Mrs. Hillary Clinton or Mr. Barack Obama, if elected to the White House during November 2008 Presidential Elections, will not only be the 44th US President, but also will create history. Barak Obama will create history for the reasons that he will be the first African-American President and Hillary Clinton, for the reason that she will be the first woman President in the history of USA. Mrs. Clinton will also make history for another reason that she will become the first husband and wife pair to become the President, since her husband William “Bill” Jefferson Clinton was the 42nd President of USA. We have added a new item this time in ASTROVISION called “QUESTION HOUR” and in this issue. We are asking a question to the readers as to whether Mr. Barack Obama will be nominated as Democratic party’s candidate as well as be elected as the 44th President of USA.

ASTROLOGY AND ITS APPLICATIONS – PART I

Astrology is a noble and highly respected science, and not a mere guess work. It is as old as

the ages of the Vedas. It depends on the position of the planets ascertained astronomically. It

explains the celestial phenomena and the corresponding terrestrial events. True meaning of

astrology is the “message of the stars”. By using salient principles of astrology, one can

forecast events for the benefit of all and as such it is a useful science for interpreting nature.

The Astrologer, by his correct prediction, gives the knowledge of the dark future.

Some say that astrology is an idle-dream / illusion / superstition and contemplate with pity.

Those who have no disappointment / difficulties in life take pride and say they have no faith in

astrology and ridicule both the ASTROLOGER AND THE SCIENCE. It is for the present day

scientific astrologers to dispel the above notions of the cynics and prove that astrology is a

science and it can render very useful service to one and all and create faith even in the skeptic

(by acquiring the knowledge about the history of astrology and the illustrious and eminent

sages who practiced astrology would give a better appreciation of the science).

As years passed by, for various reasons this science has remained “static” without any

advancement (research and development). As compared to the tremendous advancement viz.

medical / engg. subjects, not even a fraction of encouragement is given by way of R & D.

Students of Astrology should be encouraged to get higher knowledge. There should be

foolproof methods to predict accurate results. Doubts should be cleared. The present position

of astrology, in the hands of some incompetent astrologers is really deplorable, with

unsatisfactory results (just like never two watches agree), offering different opinions confusing

the already depressed consultants.

Coaching / training of students is absolutely necessary to have the same (uniform) school of

thought. Encouragement is a must for Research & Development in different branches of

Astrology. Specialization should be introduced (viz. medical – Astrology / Astro–Meteorology –

Weather forecast, natural calamities, judicial / political Astrology, Natal Astrology / Horary /

Electional Astrology.

To get feed back information and to have study-Circle and do research. Correct knowledge of

astrology does afford mental strength to the feeble / weak minded, solace to the depressed,

peace to the anxious and worried – steadiness to the wavering mind. A fullfledged astrologer

helps in no small measure to dispel the fears in the queriest’s mind and braces him up to face

the future with confidence and hope. The knowledge of future prompts one to render help to

those who are in need, banish evil thoughts from the mind and make efforts to lead a simple

honest life.

The basic aim of astrology is to give a correct prediction be it through Natal or Horary method,

traditional or Krishnamurti paddhati. The simpler and easier the method followed the better.

Study of astrology by traditional system requires sound knowledge of Vedic / Sanskrit

involving complicated rules – may sometimes be contradicting. Since Astrology is not

remunerative, now-a-days it is rare to see anyone volunteering to study the subject.

KRISHNAMURTI PADDHATHI (KP)

Late Prof. KS Krishnamuri, who initially started with traditional astrology found inadequacy, no

coherence, confusion and contradiction in predictions, especially in respect of “TWINS and

TRIPLETS”, born within a difference of few minutes (between A, B & C) the month, day, thithi,

nakshatra and Lagna / Rashi being the same. What is it, which is causing vast difference and

diametrically opposite results amongst the twins / triplets in such a minute interval of times?

This mystery compelled the late Prof. to take up in-depth study and conduct research in

respect of birth of twins / triplets throughout the country and through research for about two

decades. As a result of his research, certain methods / theories were evolved which are

simple, clear, convincing and scientific explaining the nature of the events to the satisfaction

of the queirist and the Astrologer. The theory / discovery propagated by the Prof. were

popularly known by his name as KP.

The subject (KP) – Advanced Stellar Astrology has been written / explained in simple English

without bringing in the complicated Sanskrit slokas – no technical jugglery. Even an ordinary

student with the knowledge of Xth standard mathematics can study and learn. Elaborate and

complicated calculations are avoided by providing suitable ready reference tables.

KP’s THEORY / FINDINGS.

Each planet governs through zones in the zodiac.

SIGN STAR OR CONSTELLATION SUB

The Ascendant and the cusps (Bhava) of the houses move faster than the planets, and it is

these two rapid changes though the relative positions among the planets and their occupation

of the star and sub also remain the same.

SUB: According to KP each constellation is sub-divided into nine parts. They are not equal in

the longitude, but the longitude of each sub is in the proportion in which they are allotted the

total number of years in Vimshottari dasa system.

Just like in any dasa, the first sub period (Bhukti) is ruled by the dasa lord. Then in the same

cyclic order the sub will be ruled as in the Bhuktis. Therefore, the sign lord, the star lord and

the sub lord redice the number of probabilities to be chosen for prediction. Hence, even

though a constellation may indicate many results, it is the SUB which decides which of them

applies to an individual.

PLANET CONSTELLATION SUB

A constellation extends by 13 deg 20 min 20 seconds whereas a SUB extends by 0 deg. 40

min to 2 deg. 13 min 20 seconds.

KCR AND TELANGANA STATE – KP ANALYSIS

Mr. K. Chandrasekhara Rao, or KCR as fondly addressed, is the founder President of Telangana

Rashtra Samiti (TRS), a political party, formed for the formation of Telangana State.

The ruling UPA alliance at the Central Government had included the formation of Telangana

State, carved out from Andhra Pradesh, in their Common Minimum Programme (CMP). Earlier

KCR was a member of the Union Cabinet, holding the Shipping portfolio before resigning from

the Ministry.

KCR was born on 17-Feb-1954 at 10-30 a.m. Siddipet, Medak Dist, A.P. (78°51'E 18°06'N KP

KP Reader VI, page no. 321, illustrates the following question and relevant rule: Can I

become Premier? If the star lord of 11th cusp’s sub lord is the significator of 9, 10, 11 and

who is in any manner connected with Mars and Jupiter, you can become Premier. This rule is

applicable to get any position, which one wants to have. We have to take that the 9th house

represents kingdom. Mars and Jupiter indicate a high political power and the 11th house shows

that the ambition will be realized. Service to people is motivated by Saturn and his good

disposition.

11th CSL is Venus. Venus is posited in Rahu star. Rahu is posited in 9th house. Rahu is

aspected by Saturn and thus acts as an agent of Rahu. Saturn is lord of 10 and 11. 11th Cusp

Sub lord Venus is also posited in 11th house. Rahu in Sagittarius and hence signifies Jupiter.

Rahu is in sub of Mars. Hence all the conditions are fulfilled to become a Premier.

At present KCR is running Rahu Mahadasa from 23-July 2006 whereas Rahu is a giver while

Ketu is a taker. The most favourable position for Rahu is Aries, Taurus, Virgo, Sagittarius and

Capricorn.

Rahu, in his chart, is posited in Sagittarius. Rahu in Sagittarius signifies acquisition of wealth,

sudden and unexpected gain without effort. Great success in any undertaking, mental unrest,

etc,.

Jupiter Bhukti is starting from 05-April 2009. His Jupiter is posited in Taurus. According to BV

Raman, Jupiter in Taurus:- If a King or a President—access to new territory, fresh treaties and

pacts, if an ordinary person, acquisition of wealth, establishment of business on a firm

foundation, gains in trade and agriculture, increase in land and cattle, respect from friends and

foes. Ref.: page no. 155, Hindu Predictive Astrology.

His western Sun sign is Aquarius. His Chinese animal sign is horse. Aquarius / horse --

dreamers and plotters of vast plans that can take a life time to realize. Not to worry. The

Aquarius / horse will carry out his plan in his own free time – preferably with his own hands.

Vast scope doe not faze this valiant subject. He knows he can work it in detail all alone. All

he asks for is a little cooperation. And, of course money. Reference: Page 612 / 613, the

“New Astrology” written by “Suzanne White”, where she blends 12 western Sun signs and 12

Chinese animal signs and makes 144 new signs to understand human behavoiur.

Jerryl L Keane gives readings of each degree of the zodiac in his book “Practical Astrology” to

give much much more understanding of the factors involved in the chart.

Jupiter is at 23 deg. 22 min in Taurus : denotes a good politician and / or a statesman. Lenin

had his Jupiter in the same degree (i.e., between 23 deg to 24 deg in Taurus).

Saturn is in 16 deg 13 min in Libra : denotes one who takes theological matters seriously

either through acceptance or rejection. Churchill had his Mars in the same degree (i.e.,

between 16 deg to 17 deg. in Libra).

Sun is at 4 deg 52 min in Aquarius. The work that these natives accomplish may be far-

reaching in effect. If the native is ambitious and conscientious, succeeding generations may

remember him. Gandhiji had his Ketu and Joseph Addison had his Neptune in the same

degree (i.e., between 4 deg. to 5 deg in Aquarius).

Venus is at 9 deg. 16 min in Aquarius: denotes one whose work and life is spent largely in the

public eye. Churchill had his Saturn in the same degree (i.e., between 9 deg to 10 deg in

Aquarius.

Mercury is at 22 deg. 11 min. in Aquarius denotes one who is not afraid of his ideas nor is he

afraid to offer them up for examination and criticism from others. Edison had his Sun in the

same degree (i.e., between 22 deg. to 23 deg. in Aquarius).

Next assembly elections are slated approx. by April / May 2009 when the present YS

Rajasekhara Reddy government completes its 5-year term in Andhra Pradesh, and the chances

of forming a separate Telangana State is foreseen during this period in the light of the above

rules. If so, simultaneous elections could be held for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State.

Hence it is opined that KCR would be elected as the first Chief Minister of Telangana State

when elections are held in A.P. in April / May 2009.

Will Taslima Nasreen out from home confinement? If so when?

Ms. Taslima Nasreen, born in August 1962 in Bangladesh, is a prominent writer who now lives

in exile in India. Because of continuous threat to her life, she lives away from public life in

India.

Prior to her exiled life in Kolkata and elsewhere in

India, she was been living in exile in Europe. She

has written twenty eight books of poetry, essays,

novels, and short stories in her native language of

Bengali. Many have been translated into twenty

different languages.

"I am not happy. I am living in stress. But I want to live in India and return to Kolkata. So I am bearing it all."

After reading this news, I asked question myself

and tried to analyze her confinement by my own

using a new rule as demonstrated below.

Rules:1:

One can be free from House confinement if 2nd (freedom) signifies 2 (freedom), 4 (change of

environment, home), 11 (fulfillment of desire).

Rules: 2:

One can be free from House confinement if 12th (any kind of confinement) signifies

2(Freedom), 4 (Change of environment, Home), 11 (fulfillment of desire).

being lord of 1,4. No planet is posited in the star of Jupiter. Jupiter is the sub lord of 2,3,9.

Venus is in 1, being lord of 6 and 11. Rahu is in 2nd cusp. No planet is in the star of Rahu, and

Rahu is sub lord of 8. Sun is conjoined with Rahu. Sun is in 2, being lord of 9.

desire). So it is sure that she will be free from house confinement.

12th Cusp Sub lord is Mercury. Mercury is in the star of Moon and sub of Saturn. Mercury is in

2, being lord of 7,10. Moon is in 5, lord of 8. Saturn is in 8, lord of 2, 3. No planet in the star

of Saturn and Saturn is sub lord of cusp 5,6,7,11.

Sub lord of 12th signifies 2 (freedom), 11 (fulfillment of desire). So it is sure that she will be

free from House confinement.

DASA / BHUKTI / ANTARA

Running dasa is Sun. Sun is in the star of Mars and sub of Mercury. Sun is in 2, lord of 9. Mara

is in 6, lord of 5,12. Mercury is in 2, lord of 7,10. So, Dasa lord Sun signifies 2 (freedom).

Bhukti lord is Mercury up to 6 Dec 2008. We have already discussed Mercury, who signifies 2

(freedom), 11 (fulfillment of desire). So Bhukti lord Mercury also agrees.

Running Antara is of Mercury. So we shall check next, which is Ketu Antara from 13 March to

1 April 2008. Ketu is in own star and sub of Moon. Ketu is in 8, conjoined with Saturn and

aspected by Jupiter. Saturn is in 8th house, being lord of 2,3. No planet in the star of Saturn

and Saturn is sub lord of cusp 5,6,7,11. Jupiter is in 1st house, lord of 1,4. No planet in the

star of Jupiter. Jupiter is sub lord of 2,3,9. Moon is in 5 lord of 8.

Ketu bhukti signifies 2 (freedom), 4 (change of environment, home), 11 (fulfillment of desire). In my opinion she will go out of home confinement during the period from 13 March 2008 to 01 April 2008.

Special Note: as always, I do not consider retro effect and rotated 9th cusp for an unknown person.

As per KP system, a correct birth time is inevitable for arriving at right cuspal sub lords for

accurate prediction.

During the KPAF, Hyderabad, fortnightly meeting conducted on 09-Sept-2007 one participant

of the Meeting reported a case study of twin births; viz. dob 27-Sept-2004, tob 11.38 (first)

and 11.39 (second) pob: Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. When a doubt was raised about the

one minute difference in birth time of the above twins, Sri Rajendra Nimje, IAS. President of

KPA Forum has informed the participants that it is possible as per the medical history.

I analyzed those two charts of the Twin Births (appended herewith). The gentleman who

reported the twin births said that the second child was keeping good health and first child is

not so, and he wanted to know reason for the same through KP principle in these charts.

On analysis it was found that the 1st cuspal sub lord of first child is Mars who is lord of 1st and

6th for Scorpio Ascendant and not well since birth.

Mars is 1st & 10th Cuspal Sub lord (no planet is tenated in its star) is in Sun’s star (10th) and

sub of Kethu in Rahu star who is in conj. to 6th cusp signifies 1st, 6th (vacant), 10 indicates

CAREER IN MEDICINE

The most sought after education in all times across the globe is Medicine. Even after

Information Technology making its stride, the craze for medicine has not come down. Many

students aspire for career in different fields of medicine. This is the most costliest course and

as well time consuming. After 12 years of formal school education, a student has to put up

another 6 to 8 years of education to acquire a degree in Post graduation and get specialized.

6th house indicates recovery of the lost property (12th to 7th). 5th house (11th to 7th)

signifies gain to the thief. 8th house signifies (2nd from 7th) stolen property. 12th house

signifies gain to the thief (6th from 7th). For recovery of lost article, 11th house should be

connected to 2nd and 6th houses. 11th CSL is Rahu, an agent of Mars. Rahu occupies 6th house.

When Mars connected with Asc or atleast lord of Asc, one will be arrogant. When mars has no

connection, he will be neither arrogant nor has egoism. If Mars is in Saturn sub one will be

unassuming and simple. Here Mars is in Sat Sub, he will not have any vices.

In this case Mars is the Asc lord and is in Jupiter star and Saturn sub. In this case the native

should be arrogant and equally unassuming since Mars is in Saturn sub.

5th house denotes initiation. It is unoccupied by Mars. 5th house owned by Jupiter. Mars is in

At this juncture, let us remember the GULBARGA THEORY, which says. “ If the sub lord of the

number furnished by the querient is also either the star lord of the lagna or of the Moon

among the ruling planets, then the query is to be answered positive, otherwise negative”. At

present in the chart made out of KP No. 189 / 249, the sub lord of the given number is Rahu.

The star lord of the lagna (Astd. for RP 235-56) is Mercury. The star lord of the Moon is

Jupiter. All the three are in three different ways. So immediately I predicted the Negative

(i.e.,) that the querient will not get through the Examinations.

(1) The sub lord of the 4th cusp is Saturn. He is not all signifying either 4th or 11th. Of course

he is not in the star of a retrograde planet. (2) He is in the constellation of Ketu who is at 8th.

So he becomes a strong significator of 8th. He is stationed in Leo (a barren sign) and very

close to the 8th cusp. (Saturn=3-10-49 and VIII Cusp=3-38-49). All the co-rulers of Saturn

(i.e) Sun / Ketu / Sun / Rahu are well connected to the barren signs. So the negative results

may be expected. (3) As the sub lord of the 11th cusp Venus is in retrograde motion, the

querient’s ambition (i.e) passing of Examinations cannot be realized. (4) The sub lord of the

11th cusp Venus® is not at all in anyway signifying the first house. Moreover he is the first

grade significator for 8th.

Jataka Parijatha Vidyanata says one can become a minister if Sun, Mars, Mercury and Saturn

are conjoined.”

Prof KSK, the inventor of stellar astrology modifies this rule and says that Sun in Sat-Mar-Mer

or Mercury in Saturn Mars Sun or Mars-Saturn-Sun or Mercury at the time of birth can make

the native a minister in a suitable dasa period i.e. Inter-relation of the planets Sun, Mars,

Mercury and Saturn and significations of 1, 6,9,10 &11 will decide the question.

4 and 5 at 12. There are no occupants in the stars of Saturn as such Saturn is full significator

of houses 4, 5, and 12.

strikes to me that the native will have to share power to be in power.

If the headache is coming on every 7th day, use sanguinaria 30.

If the headache is following the course of Sun, i.e., from increasing and decreasing from

Sunrise to Sunset, use Kalmia 30.

The above remedies should be used in repeated dose depending upon their severity.

Stammering is recorded in patients in whose horoscope Sun is afflicted. For stammering, use

any of the following medicines:

Stramonium 30

Cannabis Indica 30

Cannabis Sativa 30

If stammering is very severe, use cannabis indica or cannabis sativa in higher potencies, but

30 potency is always safe and can be repeated more frequently in a day.

All the above ailments mentioned are common with person born on Sunday or on any day

between 10.30 a.m. to 01.30 pm. The above remedies will bring about complete cure.

When day and time of birth is not known for a person, we can also give the above remedies,

ASTROLOGICAL INDICATIONS FOR ASTHMA

As per Guruji Prof. KSK, the Ascendant and the significators of Ascendant will indicate whether

one can maintain good health or suffer from any disease or will have rapid or slow recovery

from ailments or succumb to it.

1) If a person is born with the cusp of ascendant in the constellation of lord of 6th or 8th, he

will not have sufficient immunity or resistance or infectious diseases.

2) Again if the sub lord of the Ascendant is in the constellation of significators of 6th house,

then the person will be sickly.

3) Therefore, if the ascendant and the lord of ascendant and the sub lord are in the

constellation of planets, who are significators of houses other than 6 or 8 or 12, the native will

live long period and good health will be maintained.

4) A strong and un-afflicted Sun and Moon are the assets of the health in a horoscope. Strong

Moon ensures sound mind and good thinking power.

Now we shall discuss about the Asthma and the astrological indications.

There are three types of asthmas:

A) Cardiac Asthma (originates from heart disease)

B) Renal Asthma (which is accompanied with kidney disease)

C) Bronchial Asthma (in which difficulty in respiration due to spasms of the muscle fibers

of bronchial tubes).

Out of the three, bronchial asthma is very acute and common with lot of suffering when attack

In this complaint we observe breathing difficulty, suffocation, restlessness, fainting by the

patient, bending forward, spell of coughing, emitting mucous, expectoration with phlem.

In Astrological parlance, all the above symptoms caused by different planets, which are

explained as under:

In Asthma the patient is suddenly seized with a difficulty in breathing or suffocation (denoted

by Saturn and Rahu). The main symptom of difficulty (denoted by Saturn) while breathing is

(denoted by Rahu).

The patient moves about restlessly (denoted by Mars) and now sits (denoted by Saturn) on

the chair with the head (Mars) bent forward and arms (Mercury and Rahu) outstretched.

In Asthma breathing becomes more and more laboured (Saturn) and the patient becomes

restless (Mars). Thirst for small quantity of hot water (Sun and Moon) at interval is noticed.

After some time the attack (Saturn and Mars / Rahu) comes to close after a spell of coughing

(Moon) which brings up some mucous expectorate on (Saturn and Moon) or disturbed phlegm.

As this is a lingering disease, Saturn plays an important role. Collar bone and rectorial

muscles (Mercury and Saturn) and ribs (Moon and Saturn) are predominantly visible during

breathing, besides collar bones where the fourth house rules lungs, chest and ribs.

Basic Preliminaries for Following Muhammad Ali’s Chart Assessments:

• Both Geocentric and Heliocentric Charts are used for analysis in Magi delineation – to

Geocentric Natal Chart: Longitudinal and Declinational Charts Magi Assessment of Muhammad Ali’s Natal Gifts and Talents:

Stretching the orb to four degrees strictly for the purpose of determining whether any

Dynamical Symmetrical Planetary Geometry is present, the Focus of Mohammad Ali’s

chart is the Grand Trine involving the Sun, Uranus, and Neptune. The Grand Trine is

composed of two Super Aspects; the bi-directional Sun enhancement to Uranus, his Focus Aspect, and bi-directional Sun applying enhancement to Neptune.

The Sun-Uranus is highly descriptive of an individual who prefers to be a little different in his

approaches to life, rather than adhering to the norm. This certainly describes Mohammad Ali.

He was not only revolutionary in his approaches, but Ali was also a master of public relations,

which was absolutely fundamental for attracting both audiences and media recognition. At the

press conferences, the reporters were frequently sullen. Ali would turn on them. “Why ain’t

you taking notice?” Or “Why ain’t you laughing?” 1 He was very gifted in his boxing career,

with talents that involved a high degree of skill in balance, hand-eye co-ordination, and depth

perception.

Adding Neptune to the mix, we find a highly creative and revolutionary public figure, who

knew exactly how to work both the media and the public to become a famous figure, and

whom was also highly entertaining in his chosen field.

Mohammad Ali’s declinational Focus Aspect is his Venus applying contra-parallel Chiron, a

Super Aspect, and a Magical Romantic Cinderella enhancement. This speaks to money

from a charismatic career and noteworthy public image. His boxing career had him dancing in

the boxing ring like no other. “Ali brought beauty and grace to the most uncompromising of

sports.” 2

Next we see a declinational Super Aspect involving Sun contra-parallel Jupiter, while Jupiter

is EXDEK (posited in extreme declination). This is considered a Wisdom Aspect (Jupiter/Sun

enhancement alignment), and this declinational aspect suggests that he possessed Judeo-

Christian values, and was willing to fight to the end, even willing to die, for a cause he

believed in.

Longitudinal double retrograde Venus square Saturn is quite telling of what made Mohammad

Ali so ambitious and full of self-love. This aspect speaks so well to his notorious phrase, “I AM

THE GREATEST”, and also addresses the difficulty he had with timely resigning because he

absolutely loved the sport. This alignment also addresses his love (Venus) of the control

(Saturn) and happiness that this desire afforded him when he was participating. Coaxed into

fight by his managers long after he should have retired, and perhaps because he loved the

sport too much to leave it, Ali ended up being punished by the likes of Leon Spinks and Larry

entertaining manner unique to him, is what helped lead him to his revolutionary fame,

success, and charismatic career. This also addresses his developed reflexes, co-ordination,

balance, and ability to respond and adjust quickly to changes in motion, along with being

gifted with hand-eye coordination. He was a famed leader in the sport of boxing. Ali was asked

on a television show what he would have done with his life, given a choice. After an awkward

pause – a rare thing, indeed, he admitted he couldn’t think of anything other than boxing. 5

Mars applying bi-directional square to Pluto is a Male Super Sexual Aspect and speaks to his antagonistic mannerisms. He enjoyed both power and disruption. In his boyhood, he was ever

of the world three times. He began boxing professionally on 10/29/1960 and became world

champ in 1964 by knocking out Sonny Liston. His title was declared vacant after he refused

military obligation as a Muslim and a conscientious objector. He later changed his name and

A native with the following birth details, asked me, when he will get a job. He was attempting

to get a job since 1st week of Sep 2007 and it is now end of Sep 2007 and he did not find a

suitable job, hence the question. You have provided the following birth details, which I have

How our personal Zodiac works As we all are aware Sun and Moon are two luminaries and they are connected with our Ida

and Pingala nadis. When we are inhaling the breath, along with oxygen, we are inhaling the

life force from Sun and Moon. From Sun we receive the real life force containing the Pran

Tatva directly and from Moon we receive the cosmic force interacted with all other

planets. After inhalation the Oxygen is going to the lungs and thereby to the unpurified blood

for purification whereas the cosmic force of different planets inhaled is going to the seven

chakras in our body situated within Nadis in the spinal cord through Medulla Oblongata.

All the seven chakras are controlled by main 7 planets and the inhaled cosmic force is

distributed amongst these Chakras. The lowest chakra of red colour called Mooladhar chakra is

beneath the spinal cord and above the sex organ, is controlled by Mercury. The second orange

chakra called Swadhisthan is between the first Mooladhar chakra and the third Manipur

chakra. This is controlled by Venus. The third Manipur chakra having its yellow colour is at

the naval point and ruled by Sun himself where Sun’s life force is attracted after inhalation. It

is generating electricity, heat and energy to our different systems of the body to run the life.

Sun is at the center point and the lower two planets Mercury and Venus are inner planets in

the sky. They are controlling our five senses viz. Roop, Ras, Sparsh, Gandh and Swaad. Unless

and until the Kundalini is reached to this third Manipur chakra, a person cannot enjoy the real

peace of Atman or Brahma. A meditation will uplift the Kundalini towards this chakra to get

the solar power and once it is reached to this chakra, the person will be attracted towards

Meditation practice permanently after enjoying the real calm there.

The fourth green chakra is called as Anahat Chakra ruled by Moon herself. This is the chakra

situated at heart position and all the feelings, love, hatred, liking, disliking, calmness,

selfishness, anger, emotions etc lying here under direct control of Moon. A man can weep

from here, laugh from here, enjoy from here and meditate the God here on the lotus petals.

Yes, this is the main center where mind is interacting with outer forces inhaled through

Moon. This is called as kshetra, the seat of God described in Bhagvad Gita.This chakra is

within the Cancer sign whereas lower third Manipur is within the jurisdiction of Leo sign. The

remaining cosmic force will be attracted at different chakras by different planets.

Other three are fifth Vishuddha chakra of blue colour controlled by Mars at the throat location

in the body, sixth indigo coloured Agnya chakra ruled by Jupiter between the two eyes but

back side within Aquarius and the seventh violet coloured Sahasrar Chakra ruled by the great

renunciated and detached planet Saturn at Pisces location. Jupiter and Saturn are outer

planets and pushing the soul towards the ultimate goal of an individual, the Moksha. Mars,

though outer planet, is giving current from Aries remaining at Medulla Oblongata in the head

to activate the whole respiration system through the first upper chakra at throat portion.

The cosmic force is entering through gateway of Medulla Oblongata during inhalation and

thereby going to Nadis and chakras. Neurons in the brain will interact with these forces

through our nerves well connected with all the chakras and this way different ideas and

desires are produced which are creating psychic energy constantly in our mind or chitta, a

Sanskrit word of Patanjali Yoga.

Please remember that our Moon is signifying our mind. Our personal Moon controls the

complete network of chakras and neurons. Strong Moon at the birth time will response

differently with the outer forces than Weak Moon. Sun and Moon can go through all the seven

chakras and interact with all the different forces of the planets stored in the concerned

chakras.

From Mooladhar Chakra to that Sahasrar Chakra the complete zodiac of the sky is fixed in

our body and all the Signs and stars are distributed within these Nadis or seven chakras zone

at the time of one’s birth. This personal zodiac controls all the systems of the physical body.

This personal zodiac designed at the time of a birth, controls the secretion of different

hormones from the glands in the body.

It will be interesting to know that all the planets are distributed between Rahu and Ketu. Rahu

is placed at bottom in the first Mooladhar Chakra, under the control of Mercury, the planet of

move freely over the personal zodiac like Sun and Moon, with his analytical mind and intellect

to understand the cosmic forces. Rahu is reaching up to second chakra to meet Venus and

dwelling there up to the 16th year of one’s age. Rahu is coming in touch with two other

senses of Roop, the beauty of the world and Ras, the worldly pleasures including sex impulses

there. This way Mercury and Venus are the best friends of Rahu who are giving sensual

pleasure to Rahu.

These two chakras are the hot seats of Rahu and he remains there for years to enjoy the life

with the company of Mercury and Venus and generally does not allow the person to go to

Manipur Chakra as Sun is his Great enemy but if a person is reached to this Manipur chakra of

Sun by grace of God or by his Karmic force or by Meditation, the

individual will try to relieve himself from this Moha and Maya of Rahu. The story is very

different for Ketu who is located at the top and last chakra i.e. Sahasrar Chakra above the

brain center beneath Shikha ruled by Saturn. Rahu is giving birth or entry in the world of

desires and worldly pleasures, whereas Ketu gives us liberation from the birth chain if the

soul is awakened and Kundalini is reached upto this last chakra.

At the conclusion, we will also understand that there is one more Nadi except Ida and Pingala

and that is Sushumna Nadi. This Nadi is ruled by Sun and Moon only and these two planets

are freely moving in this Nadi when this Nadi is operated while inhaling. When both the nadis

and nostrils are operating while the respiration, it means that Sushumna Nadi is on and Sun

and Moon are interacting with all the chakras as well as the cosmic forces stored there in.

All the chakras are situated in the Ida / Pingala Nadis zone. The Pingala Nadi ruled by Sun

running through right nostril is at the start of Medulla Oblongata at 00 of Aries beneath the

Sahasrar Chakra and ends at 29* of Virgo where Mooladhar Chakra is located at the end

portion of spinal cord. The Ida Nadi ruled by Moon running through left nostril is starting from

0* of Libra and ending at 29* of Pisces, the sign of liberation of the soul at Sahasrar Chakra.

Rahu is dwelling at Virgo/Libra junction where Mooladhar chakra is located. Repeatedly we are

mentioning Rahu here because there is an important role of Rahu to bind the Sun and the

Moon of an individual in this world for rebirth.

After entering in the Virgo zone, Sun is coming in the contact of Rahu and thereby entering

Pitru Lok and we are doing Shraddha karma in Bhadrapad Month. At the entry of Virgo we are

also worshiping Lord Ganesh in this month at first Chaturthi as Lord Ganesh is residing at

Mooladhar to protect us. We are worshipping Goddess Durga to relieve ourselves from the

Moha and Maya extended by Rahu in Virgo/Libra in Navratri days.

Ultimately on Dipavali night we are enlightening the Deepmala to free ourselves from

Tamas or Darkness of Libra zone where Sun and Moon both are bound in Swati star of Rahu

on this day when Sun is at his debilitated position and Moon is also weak due to close

conjunction with weak Sun. From Cancer to Libra is the zone of four lower chakras of worldly

affairs and entry of the Sun towards these chakras is called the Chaturmaas period.

Still we can go very deep in this subject to understand the real philosophy of Karma Theory.

This much introduction is enough to understand our personal zodiac wherein our own Moon is

traveling. This personal Moon is leading us rightly or wrongly as per the pressure of our past

Some Basics of Astrology Revisited - I After I started learning Astrology, I came across many assumptions like twelve signs and what

they represent in our lives and their classification, nine planets, their properties and how they

affect our lives etc. But, there was no real reference to explain why 12 houses represent what

they represent and why these planets affect us the way they affect us. The general belief is

that this is the knowledge handed over to us by our sages and we follow them. And, this

knowledge was handed over to our sages by none other than Brahma himself. All that is fine.

But, my problem was that I could not find the basis for all these assumptions on the physical

plane. As these planets affect us on the physical plane, there should be some way to explain

their properties on the physical plane. Because, everything that exists in this universe – stars,

planets, us, all objects… are all energy forms and energy forms constantly interact with each

other in this universe through radiation. Each and every object in this universe emits

radiation. There should be a logical method to explain the effect of planets on us. Only, we

don’t know it very well today. It is a humungous task to find plausible explanation of each and

every assumption that we make in Astrology. It could consume the time of many over many

births to find all answers. Nevertheless, I wanted to make a start and see what is that I can

discover during my lifetime.

In Astrology, we classify planets into various categories such as Satvik, Rajasik and Tamasik

based on tri-gunas. We also classify them into natural benefics and natural malefics. In

addition, we also have for any given planet some planets are considered friends and some

other planets considered as enemies. We have many mythological stories from ancient times

to help us remember their gunas, friendships etc. in an easy manner. I applaud our ancestors

for developing such a wonderful system for helping everyone, especially astrologers to easily

recall a story and then attribute certain properties to planets. These are juicy stories that stay

in memory and hence easy to recall. But, what is the real basis behind such classification? This

question always haunted me from the very beginning of my astrological journey. If you ask

any astrologer why Jupiter is classified as satvik, he would easily quote references from

mythology. He would say that Jupiter is none other than Brishaspathi, the Guru of Gods – a

satvik person and hence Jupiter is considered a satvik planet. But, what I wanted to know

was, why the planet Jupiter, a physical body, found in our Solar system is capable of inducing

satvik thoughts in us?

As per Indian Astrology, Sun, Moon, Jupiter, Mars and Ketu are classified as Satvik planets,

Mercury and Venus as Rajasik planets, Saturn and Rahu are known as tamasik planets. In

another classification Jupiter, Venus, Mercury and Moon are classified as natural benefics and

Sun, Mars, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu are classified as natural malefics. I always wondered about

the basis of this classification. As I believe that the planets affect us on the physical plane,

there should be some physical properties of these planets based on which we could explain the

classification as used in Astrology.

I looked at different properties of the planets like what they are made up of, how big they are

and how far are they from earth to get a clue on their classification. But, none gave any clue.

Finally, I found one correlation to build a bridge between what is assumed in astrology and

what we could find on the physical plane. I didn’t know that what I learnt in my primary school

would help me out here. It is VIBGYOR! Yes, it is the spectrum of light and the sequential

arrangement of different colours in the spectrum that holds the key! First list these colours in

the right order and mark the planets associated with these colours against respective colours,

you will observe some pattern:

Blue Venus Orange Sun

Green Mercury Red Mars

I would give a pale yellow or off-white colour to Moon and hence place him between Jupiter

and Mercury. To make the picture more complete, let us add the invisible radiation also to

accommodate both Rahu and Ketu:

We have four groups of planets here, the top and bottom being Tamasik, second being Rajasik

and the third being Satvik.

It is clear that such a planet classification has some meaning on the physical plane also. Let us

see more closely what the arrangement of VIBGYOR represent. It would not be wrong to

assume that the radiation of each of the planet is very similar in wavelengths of the colours

they represent in Astrolgy. Look at the following picture [1]:

We can draw the following conclusions based the spectrum diagram and the colour that each

planet represents:

1) The electromagnetic radiation of all physical planets in the solar system is mostly in the

visible spectrum range (between 400 to 700 nanometers - nm)

2) Rahu (ultraviolet, 10 to 400 nm) and Ketu (infrared, between 700 nm to 1mm) radiations

are beyond the visible range.

3) Within the range between Rahu and Ketu, planets emitting in higher wavelengths (above

540 nm) seem to be friendly to each other and planets emitting in lower wavelengths (below

540 nm) seem to be friendly to each other.

4) Planets emitting radiation in higher wavelengths and lower wavelengths seem to be not in

harmony with each other.

5) The radiation that is considered as benefic to us is small range of wavelengths between 440

to 580 nm.

6) In general, the radiation wavelengths of Tamasik planets will be either lower than 440 nm

or higher than 620 nm.

7) In general, radiation wavelengths of Rajasik planets would be in the range of 440-540 nm.

8) In general, the radiation wavelengths of Satvik planets would be between 540-620 nm.

It is now evident that the wavelength of the radiation of a planet determines its basic

characteristic and the nature of influence on us. Probably, we could generalize saying that any

radiation from any object in the specified range (as discussed above) would have similar effect

on us.

THE QUESTION OF AYANAMSHA

Unlike Western astrology that is based on the Tropical zodiac, the Vedic system of astrology

(jyotish) employs the Sidereal (or true) position of the planets. The difference between the

two, due to the precession of equinox, is called the "Ayanamsha".

It's a natural response for those not familiar with either system to shake their head in disbelief

and refuse to accept the fact that their Cancer sun sign (for instance) is now a Gemini sun

sign. They protest that there can only be one zodiac, and of course they're correct ~ there is

only one zodiac!

However the apparent position of the planets (including Sun) in relation to the constellations is

subject to this precession of the equinox which, basically, is the earth's slight backward

movement through the constellations (aprox. 50.25 seconds per year) as it wobbles on it's

axis. There are several different Ayanamsha in use today but the one most widely used by

traditional astrologers is the Lahiri ayanamsha which is sanctioned by the Indian government.

This puts the degree of precession for (Oct) 2002 at approximately 23:53:26.

One of the greatest controversy's within the jyotish community is the question of which is the

correct Ayanamsha. Many well-known and knowledgeable astrologers use different Ayanamsha

values and all swear by their results. I believe the main reason for this is the tendency to

correct the Ayanamsha rather than the T.O.B. which is very rarely 100% reliable ~ even with

hospital records!

The date of coincidence of the Tropical and the Sidereal zodiacs was found to be 285 AD and

the Ayanamsa (precessional distance) was called Lahiri's Ayanamsa. Different scholars gave

different dates but the Indian Govt in order to standardise the Ayanamsa value took the initial

point of the zodiac as the point in the ecliptic opposite the star Chitra (Alpha Virginis) which

was the vernal equinoctial point on the Vernal Equinox day of 285 AD. The rate of precession

of the Vernal Equinox was taken as 50.3 seconds per sidereal year.

In Vedic Astrology, Ayanamsa value is deducted from the Tropical longitudes of planets to get

the Sidereal longitudes. Hence the longitudes of planets in Western astrology (Tropical) and

Vedic astrology differ by (aprox) 50.25 seconds per year. Obviously Natal charts cast in these

2 systems will not be the same!

The Tropicalists (Western astrologers) maintain that the Vernal Point is presently in the 6th

degree of Pisces whilst Siderealists (Vedic astrologers) maintain that the Sidereal starting

point remains to be 0 degrees Beta Arietis (Aswini) and that the Sidereal zodiac doesn't

change ~ What IS changing is simply the degree of precession.

The important thing to remember is that the majority of traditional jyotish pundits use Lahiri,

the ayanamsha that has been sanctioned by the Calendars Reforms Committee (Indian

government) since 1954. Lahiri being the name of one of the major signatories.

It's an undeniable fact that the intellect will invariably find a way to fit a square peg into a

round hole. If the peg has to be altered to make it fit, then so be it ~ and so it is with the

Ayanamsha! If the events of life don't fit, usually due to wrong birth details or the

inexperience of the astrologer, then why not change the Ayanamsha to make it fit.

Lahiri is the Ayanamsha I use, it's approved by the government of India and is the preferred

Ayanamsha for the majority of traditional astrologers.

A colleague of mine while on discussions in office informed me on 31-Jan-2008 at around 4-39

p.m. at Hyderabad, India, that a relative of him is suffering from some heart problems. The

day was Thursday ruled by Jupiter.

The Doctors were trying to avoid an open-heart surgery using some medicinal methods as well

as removing the blockades by angioplasty.

Since there was not much time to erect a KP horary no. chart, I opted for a horary chart on

Whenever Asc / Asc lord / star lord is connected with 6th house there will be illness. 12th house

signifies hospital. 8th house signifies impediments and obstacles including danger. Mars signify

injury or surgery. 5th and 11th (which are negation to 6 and 12 respectively) will signify

recovery from illnesses. 4th house and Sun will signify heart of the native.

Moon is the reflector of the mind, and is placed in Jupiter star in Scorpio, a sign owned by

Mars. The star lord of the Moon is Jupiter who gets the aspect of Mars, the 6th lord. Asc star

lord Jupiter is also conjoined with Venus, who signifies 12th house. This indicates that the

nature of the query justified with 6th connection (diseases) and 12th (hospital).

The Asc is rising at Jupiter star in Gemini. Jupiter is placed in Venus star in Sagittarius,

conjoined with 6th and 12th lord Venus. Both Jupiter and Venus are aspected by 6th lord Mars.

4th lord Mercury is conjoined with Sun, both are significators of heart. Mercury is in Mars star

and Mars is lord of 6th house indicating illness. Besides Mars aspects Sun and Mercury. Hence

disease is connected to heart.

Since Jupiter, Mercury and Sun are connected with Mars, it was declared that there will be

surgery for the person signaling that the method adopted by Doctors such as medication and

attempt to remove the blockade, etc. will not work out. But recovery is seen since 5th lord

Venus and 11th lord Mars are connected with Jupiter and Mercury.

On 04-Feb-2008 while again on discussion the colleague informed me that the Doctors were

trying to use angioplasty to remove the blockade on Friday, 01-Feb-2008, but it did not

succeed. Therefore, the Doctors decided to go in for heart surgery, which was predicted by me

earlier.

I once again declared to him that there will be recovery as I said earlier. Moon is in Jupiter

star. The VMD going on is Jupiter-Mars. Mars signifies 6th, 11th and 12th too. The native will

be in and out of hospital during this period. The complete recovery period is indicated in

Jupiter Antara in March and thereafter in Mercury Antara in May 2008.

AN APPEAL TO ALL DIVINATORS AND ASTROLOGERS!

Once I wrote a poem:

ILLUSION and GROWTH

All that which we call 'human experience',

that’s all ’tis about ...

a perceptional mish-mash

of sensory and extrasensory imageries

(interspersed with grains of reason and logic)

evolving forever ...

so real, one can almost touch these,

yet so fleeting -- so diaphanous.

Pain and joy ...

lasting only while we open our souls to really experience these;

forgotten the moment that another leaf turns over in life,

and our sense of reality shifts subtly

or not so subtly oft times!

The more energy we feed into each short-lived experience

that we obstinately call slices of ‘life’,

the more lively it becomes, the more it gains

the illusion of magnitude and permanence ...

Eventually we all must 'wake' up

to but the next – another level of reality

and lament over time that seemingly was wasted in past

a period that seems so superficial, so trivial, as we look back ...

BUT ask the Ph.D. where she might be today ... had she never experienced ‘kindergarten’?

Due to widely prevailing misconceptions – some actually promoted by those who become the

current keepers of the keys to the hallowed ‘divine’ gates of astrology – astrology is expected

to answer many questions today that are probably beyond its domain or at least were not in

its primary mandate. Human life is becoming increasingly complex, certainly much more than

earlier times, where the framework of classical astrology as we know it was set in. Despite

many attempts at simplifying our milieu, the fact remains that quite a few of us would

continue to lead extremely complex lives, purely out of personal choice, of course. Astrology,

to remain true to the reality of human lives, must reflect such complexity. Some of the

symbolism would need to be reinterpreted and perhaps additional factors incorporated to

increase its modern relevance. Conflicts abound aplenty in modern spiritually-leaning minds,

regarding the relative role of Destiny vs Personal choice, Ability vs Achievements, even Right

vs Wrong, relatively speaking. At least some of the old norms and values serve us no long

and perhaps must not be imposed on the rest by those few that consider themselves to be

more pious amongst us through self-

denial and austere devotion to archaic and arcane lifestyles. That cannot be the path for most

of us who must, of necessity and at least for a certain portion of our lives, live in(or between!)

two realities, that of the external majority while maintaining the other less well-defined one

chosen and dictated by our innersource.

Uncertainties arise also due to the (hopefully unintentional) confounding influences of the

spiritually-advanced but not necessarily fully self-aware astrologers blessed with a somewhat

fine-tuned internal sensory-predictive system that uses astrology as a launching pad, which

then is justified rationally sometimes using incorrect reference points. This leads to

misconceptions in the multitude of readers many of whom eventually become disillusioned as

the acid of time eats away the superficial glitter and dazzle surrounding these misconceptions.

Many a disillusioned ones, sadly, also give up on astrology and turn into some of its vehement

critics, causing delay if not detriment for others.

Misconceptions abound regarding karma – as if it were a rigid coda of rules and

incontrovertible list of panaceas aimed at catering to the priestly remnants of dying

civilizations that are seen everywhere as cloistered heaps of piety in modern society. I shall

leave it at that and to each individual’s personal reflection, hopefully uninfluenced by strong

voices of 2-dimensional morality.

PLEASE do not over-glorify astrology! Treat it merely as a tool for gaining perspective and

understanding of what we are, what our lives are about, what happens to us beyond the

tangible birth to death existence we experience and to know a bit more clearly about. Do not

treat it as some magical mirror that would reveal all that is hidden, instantaneously or one

that would allow us to take a short-cut into the domains of heaven or for the less ambitious

amongst us, would allow us to amass wealth without working hard at it or to get that ideal

soul-mate or life-mate or to make it possible for us to never having to face all that is negative

in life. Pipe dreams! Neither gems nor mantras and amulets will make that happen for all of

us, indiscriminately – not even alms given with an ulterior motive would! Please do not trade

the illusion that mundane life is, for this other astro-magical super-illusion that is even more

illusory than mundane reality!

So what is this proponent of astrology really saying? Only that do not over-inflate your balloon

of expectations as you embark upon the self-navigated path of ‘deductive’ astrology as you

proceed to discover yourself and rediscover others. Avoid the superstition aggressively,

including all the fear-mongering that some modern teachers propagate. They are only fulfilling

their roles and perhaps generating karma. Never forget that they are ALL human and clearly

display human deficiencies. Honey mixed with beeswax! Use the appropriate sieve so as not to

lose the sweetness and to totally avoid the tasteless waxy bits of human weakness that

coexist with the sugar molecules.

The right and left eyes are relegated to the 2nd and 12th houses, they obviously look (cross-

eyed!) at the 6th and 8th and much of the pain in life seems to be focused on these two

houses, sicknesses, enemies, obstacles, death, and all that which is hidden. Symbolism such

as this is what much of the astroLOGIC is made up of, and must not be lost sight of. The most

hidden house is not the 8th, commonly deemed to be so in astrological parlance, but the very

house that sees it all! The first house, obviously! Isn’t it paradoxical? The very house that is so

well-studied in a horoscope, so much emphasized, the first one to get an astrologer’s attention

– is the one that holds the biggest secrets of and for an individual! A popular Hindi saying

goes, “deepak taley andhera”, the shadow lies beneath the lit lamp! How true!!

Further complicating the matter is the fact that there is not ONE single first house or

ascendant! I have written an article on personal indicators some time ago. These all have the

qualities and attributes of the first house, the personal symbolism in each horoscope, the first

person singular!

Narasimha Rao and Sanjay Rath, the jyotishi Sishya-Guru pair who have revealed some

important pointers in modern times have given clues to a very important indicator regarding

that which is desired (lagna) and that which is viewed by others (arudha). It works out in

many cases, thanks to the disconnected and disparate realities most of us tend to live in and

all the denial that we painstakingly incorporate into our lives and mundane existence.

The illusions narrow down as lagna comes closer to arudha and as these indicators and others

move even closer to each other, join and life begins to take on a coherent character, an

increased synergy, a more resonant existence ensues. The reality of the soul becomes

increasingly indistinguishable from that of mundane existence. Such individuals would not

need to resort to game-playing because they tend to be more WYSIWYG (what you see is

what you get) individuals. Such individuals would tend to be less swayed by ego trips and

would have less room for vanity in their lives.

The saptavimshamsha chart (D-27, V-27, nakshatramsha, 27th part of a rashi, etc.) is one that

is examined to gauge the true intrinsic strength and solidarity of an individual. The arudha of

the lagna in this chart gives a closer sense of the true state of the level of illusion in the

carnate individual.

The vimshamsha (V-20, D-20, 1/20th of rashi) is a chart that indicates the spiritual level and

aspirations of the individual. It also holds the key to ones leanings and the spiritual path to be

followed during this lifetime. Again, if the lagna and arudha in this charts are consonant and

mutually agreeable, the path is easier to follow and a strong connection with the 5th and 9th in

this chart would indicate one who will have a stronger focus on self-development and getting

on in life with what is more important and permanent.

Grace, in part emanating from past deeds that represent good karma is indicating in charts

through the combination of the angles and trines, particularly the 10th and 9th houses. It must

be studied from each house in the horoscope and not just from the primary orientation point –

the ascendant.

A tendency that seems to plague astrology is individuals, generally beginners who try to tackle

its multifactorial wholistic framework by taking things piece-meal. These are the ones who ask

questions such as, “What does sun in my seventh house mean?”. Invariably, they get an

answer and sometimes it clicks but at other times it does not! The luck of the draw! It is a

catch-22. The way to learn is to do so linearly, one brick at a time. And that is fine, as long as

the builder remembers that ultimately he was trying to raise a wall!

Life is a Sine Wave

Life traverses the path of sine wave having crests and troughs at appropriate intervals. This

concept of Physics applies perfectly in the realm of human life. Life is full of opposites:

pleasure and pain, love and hate, laughter and cry etc. Every pleasurable moment of life is

inevitably followed by the moment of pain in equal measure. Probably Newton got the raw

material for his Third Law of Force from such patterns of life-wave. The incoming pleasure

increases by degrees and touches the crest and then dwindles smoothly before coming to

equi-line. Following the laws of nature, the other half cycle of the sine wave starts. This half

embodies the pain which reaches at its highest intensity at the lowest point of trough and then

begins to disappear slowly and slowly before touching the equi-line. What a beautiful

depiction of "Sukh" and "Dukh" by this scientific concept. This life-wave can be looked upon in

more than one ways. Looking at sine wave. one can say, " Life is beautiful but it has troughs

of pains", or "In spite of troughs of pains, life is beautiful". Both the views are all right

because they are based on facts. The earlier interpretation is complaining way of looking at life

while the later one is a positive way of looking at it. Again, the thinking pattern too follows the

rule of sine wave. A man may have crestful thinking at one moment while troughful thinking

at another moment.

The sine wave is also the manifestation of trinity of God - Brahma, Vishnu & Mahesh. Creation,

preservation and destruction are represented by crest, equi-line and trough respectively.

Nature too follows sine wave. The moon waxes, becomes a full moon, wanes, disappears, but

always returns, Winter is followed by spring, then summer, then fall and after another winter,

the cycle begins anew. And animals are aware of this, too!

The wavelength of sine wave of each individual is different. We all experience it but we do not

know. This wavelength depends upon the good Karmas of present and past births. However,

we try to manipulate so that the same experience of crest i.e. "Ananda" comes to us again.

But the same thing does not come a second time. We go on manipulating the world but it

does not work. God alone knows when we will be happy again. You can also know if you are

able to measure the wavelength by awakening the consciousness.

But this happiness will be followed by unhappiness. So what a common man should strive for?

He must try to be near to equi-line. In the second Chapter of our Holy Gita, Lord Krishna

advised Arjuna to engage in the battle treating alike pleasure and pain, gain and loss, victory

and defeat. Similarly, one should not perform an action for pleasure and refrain from another

for fear of its pain. Our aim must be to discharge our duty by treating the agreeable and

disagreeable alike. We should not become a prey to the polarities of pleasure and pain, good

and evil, love and hatred, the permanent and the transient. Caught in these opposites, man

feels the need of a personal divinity (the state of equi-line on sine wave), who is supreme,

unaffected by afflictions, untouched by actions and reactions, and free from the experience of

joy and sorrow. The equi-line reflects the true yogic state which brings an incoherent and

scattered mind to a reflective and coherent state. It is the communion of the self with the

Universal Self. In this Fundamental quest of touching equi-line (realization of eternal being)

man must devise a code of conduct whereby he could live in peace and harmony with nature,

his fellow beings and himself. Let we have our mind steady by refusing to be affected by

favorable (crests) and unfavorable (troughs) circumstances by remaining close to the equi-line

of the sine wave.
