COURSE PROGRAMMESNEW FOR 2017 REAL SNOW FUN

Mixing snow with science, this year we are launching our new computer science workshops at Chill Factore in partnership with “Computing at School”, a new DofE funded scheme to provide leadership and strategic guidance to staff involved in Computing Education in schools.

What could be more fun for kids than learning to ski or snowboard? With friendly and experienced instructors, the children will be monitored closely and expertly taught. Our aim is to make snow sports fun, accessible to all children and to develop young talent where possible.

During these half day sessions, you andyour class will explore exercises such as:

Programming Minecraft in Pythony y y

Learning programming with the Raspberry Pi y y y

Using human programming to learn set instructions.

During these sessions, snow will be used to activate the games. This 3 hour package will consist of a 2 hour “Computing at School” workshop plus 1 hour in the SnowPark – our real snow wonderland with sledges, iceand snow luges and downhill donuts.

We have just 5 dates available next year so make sure to reserve your booking ASAP. Sessions are booked in groupsizes of 12 or 24 per half day or why not bring 4 groupsfrom your school for a discounted full day rate of £800.00for 48 students with an additional saving of 10% off.

KS2 Forces in ActionDiscovery BoxIn this box you will find stopwatches,measuring wheels and calculators to record your movements on the snow. You will explore speed, velocity, acceleration, mass and friction

Whilst on the snow you will:

Test out our 3 sledge designs and recordyour own speed on the snow by measuringthe distance and timey y y

Analyse the impact of mass and friction on movement through rolling different sizeballs down our beginner’s slope

You will also get some tasks to take back tothe classroom around aerodynamics andtraction, looking at how to design aDog Sled and Bobsleigh.

The box must be hired in conjunction with a group visit toeither Mini-Mooseland for 1 hour or Snowpark for 1 hour. Recommended group sizes of 20 for Mini-Mooseland and 40for the Snowpark. Additional time may be required forgroups 40+. This is a self-led product with teaching aidsand syllabus based activities on the snow.

Gingerbread House 2017From 11th Nov to the 24th Dec 2017 we will be transforming Chill Factore into a magical snow kingdom. In 2017, the theme will be the story of the “Ginger Bread Man” with on our snow based grotto going up from the 11th November, for on sites visits until 7.30pm each day in December to meet Santa Claus.

We will be combining visits to the Snowpark and Mini-Mooseland with a visit to meet Santa Claus in our own on site Grotto.
