13. Verification of PON Redundancy with Card level protection

PON Redundancy for Card Level Protection is not available.

14. Verification of PON Redundancy with Port level protection

Procedure: The PON Redundancy is called PON Protection. Here we can perform the redundancy test for the same card for PORT 1 & PORT 2, PORT 3 & PORT 4, not for any other combinations. Connect the 2 redundant ports to the 2x4 splitter, Take the O/P of the splitter to the ONU. Please do the below configuration in OLT.

Make the Gigal-Ethernet Port Administratively Up and check the Power readings with 1550nm power meter. The sample readings are given below

Specification: - 4.5dbm to 1.5dbm at 1550 nm for 1000 Base Lx module.

3) Measure the RX Power at the Uplink port(Backhaul) of the switch card (B Port) 1Gb

Connect the Attenuator between RPR Switch and GEM Card and vary the attenuation as per below power levels

Checked at -23 dBM – All services OK. Checked at -3.25 dbm all services OK

Specification: -3dbm to –22dbm

4) Measure the Tx power at the Uplink(Backhaul) Port of the Switch card ( A Port) 10Gb if equipped

3) Measure Tx Power of the Result Specification: Nominal +1.3dbm(+4dbm to -1dbm)

4) Introduce variable optical attenuator for ONT Verify the lower threshold point and Check all the services at lower threshold point

Introduce a variable optical attenuator between EPM card and ONU and pls do the above configuration for adding and activating ONU, and check the ONU registration for below specification of Power Levels. Result : working up to -33.3 dbm

Specification : -25.5dbm

06. 1. Downstream for 1490. Power budget for Physical length of 20KM between OLT &ONT

1. Login into EMS Server thru EMS client.

2. Add an OLT into the EMS Topology and double click the OLT icon to Open Device Manager.

3. Add an ONT (Search and Register)

4. Installation and configuration of EPM card/GPON ports/ONT’s created per port should be available in graphical view in EMS

5. Access the ONT by clicking on the ONT from CPE Management Menu of OLT Device Manager.

6. Delete an ONT from OLT Device Manager(De-register)

Completed the Test as per above procedure & found OK.

3. Search, register and activate an ONT.

19 c. 1. From EMS Topology, Double click the OLT icon to Open Device Manager

2. Select ONU Configuration tab from ONU ONU Configuration, now select the ONT and click Modify.

3. Enable/disable the FEC Mode and Apply.Completed the Test as per above procedure & found OK.

19 d. 1. Add and activate ONT’s

2. Pull of the fiber at the ONT

3. LoS ONU alarm will be reported at the EMS

4. Insert the fiber back into the ONT

5. LoS ONU Clear alarm will be reported at the EMS

3. Check in the EMS the green color link (in ONU Topology view.) for the ONT since it is up

4. Power off the ONT

5. Power Switch off alarm will be reported from ONT and PON ONT Link turns yellow in ONU Topology view.

6. Power ON the ONT and same alarm will clear after ONT is UP; Link again turns green in (in ONU Topology view).

1. From EMS Topology, Double click the OLT icon to Open Device Manager

and OPEN ONU Device Manager

2. Select the ONT and click Device Manager to open ONT Device Manager.

2. Click Refresh button to see the updations in various performance counters for OLT and ONT.

5. Create performance report manually at any time and see/export/print
