Children and their families are invited to join this classical duo for the magic of piano and violin.

Award-winning performers Tatiana Shustova and Aaron Jacobs are both doctoral candidates at the University of Illinois and have performed at regional, national, and international venues. The Urbana Free Library would like to thank 20 Fingers & 4 Hands for generously sharing their talents with the library community.

Prairie Breezes concerts are family friendly and take place on the second Friday of most months.

Almost “A” Quintet features some of the most talented and in-demand performers in the area. With a strong and diverse background in classical, contemporary art music, jazz, Latin jazz with folk, gypsy, gypsy jazz, tango, and klezmer, their music will brighten your day.

The talented artists of the Almost “A” Quintet include Chris Reyman (accordion), George Turner (guitar), Dorothy Martirano (violin), Armand Beaudoin (bass), and Ricardo Flores (percussion).

Children ages 2 and up (and their families) are invited to bring one of their plush toys or dolls for a story time on Friday afternoon and tuck it in for an overnight stay at the library. On Saturday morning we’ll enjoy a pancake breakfast and you can find out what adventures your stuffy had during its sleepover.

The Friends hold massive sales of great used books in April, August, and November, but you also can browse a selection of gently used books year-round at The Urbana Free Library Cafe and Friends Book Shop.

Proceeds from book sales and the book shop support the purchase of library materials and library programs.

The November book sale will include the final selection of library books from the Better World Books shipment. Adult Services librarians have completed the careful re-evaluation of titles and selection of items to be returned to the collection. If all goes as hoped and the library has a team of volunteers to assist, items not purchased at the fall book sale will be boxed and shipped to Better World Books. If plans fall through and volunteers are not available, items not purchased at the fall book sale will be transferred to the Recycle Center at the University of Illinois.
