After many months of preparation, the school PBL team are incorporating new ideas into our current PBL program. Thank you to Mr Pettitt and the PBL team for leading this change. Nicole Osborne Assistant Principal POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOR LEARNING (PBL) RELAUNCH: We are proud to announce the launch of three new school values and expectations. The three values will replace the current values of Be Safe, Be Cooperative, Be Polite and Be Fair. Commencing today we launch: The three values are the result of over two years of hard work by the staff at Westport Public School where we have realigned our values to match the school s philosophy, valuing the 21 st Century learner. At Westport Public School we deliver excellence in a welcoming, inclusive and caring environment. Our school values ensure that all students and staff are respected, safe and happy. Supportive staff challenge, inspire and promote learning as a lifelong endeavour, where students are provided with opportunities to excel and achieve their full potential as they explore 21 st Century initiatives. As part of our new values launch, we welcome the inclusion of a new logo which will appear on all PBL signs, certificates, classroom posters and reward systems throughout our school. The dolphin was created by a professional graphic artist after a ‘Design a Dolphin’ competition was held last term. The two finalists, Leif and Hallie, had their designs sent to Kristyn Jenkins, the Creative Director from Le Group Creative who generously donated her time and expertise. Westport Public School congratulates our student finalists and thank Kristyn Jenkins for her hard work. Students will now be awarded with a Dolphin Point when they are observed by teachers displaying the three new values throughout the school day. Once awarded, students will deliver their Dolphin Point to a House Point Box to receive house points. Each Tuesday, two students will be drawn from each box and awarded a Dolphin Dollar which can be spent at our school canteen. Throughout 2018, students will participate in a series of lessons based on the behavioural expectations of each value within our school settings and environments.

POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOR LEARNING (PBL)

RELAUNCH:

We are proud to announce the launch of three new school

values and expectations. The three values will replace the

current values of Be Safe, Be Cooperative, Be Polite and Be

Fair. Commencing today we launch:

The three values are the result of over two years of hard work

by the staff at Westport Public School where we have

realigned our values to match the school’s philosophy,

valuing the 21st Century learner.

At Westport Public School we deliver excellence in

a welcoming, inclusive and caring environment.

Our school values ensure that all students and staff

are respected, safe and happy. Supportive staff

challenge, inspire and promote learning as a

lifelong endeavour, where students are provided

with opportunities to excel and achieve their full

potential as they explore 21st Century initiatives.

As part of our new values launch, we welcome the inclusion

of a new logo which will appear on all PBL signs, certificates,

classroom posters and reward systems throughout our

school. The dolphin was created by a professional graphic

artist after a ‘Design a Dolphin’ competition was held last

term. The two finalists, Leif and Hallie, had their designs sent

to Kristyn Jenkins, the Creative Director from Le Group

Creative who generously donated her time and expertise.

Westport Public School congratulates our student finalists

and thank Kristyn Jenkins for her hard work.

Students will now be awarded with a

Dolphin Point when they are observed by

teachers displaying the three new values

throughout the school day. Once

awarded, students will deliver their

Dolphin Point to a House Point Box to

receive house points. Each Tuesday, two

students will be drawn from each box and awarded a Dolphin

Dollar which can be spent at our school canteen.

Throughout 2018, students will participate in a series of

lessons based on the behavioural expectations of each value

within our school settings and environments.

Tuesday our Stage 3 students walk down to Town Beach

where they learnt about beach and surf safety and they

were even able to use there new knowledge in and out of

the water.

TOWN BEACH On Tuesday all of Stage Three walked to Town Beach by the shimering water. On the walk we saw dolphins going up the river towards Westport Park along the breakwall. The painted rocks were beautiful to see and it took my mind off my sore feet and how I couldn’t wait to release them. As soon as we got there I took my shoes off and had a hugh sip of my water. I went to set up my towel under a shady tree with Maddie and Georgia. We began to pull the goodness out of our lunchboxes, that we had been waiting for. After lunch we got into our classes and went to our rotations to “flags” where we had to laydown on our chins and quickly get up, turn around and get a flag. The person that didn’t have one would be eliminated and would watch. Next my class went to the water between the flags and did relays in groups, we also used rescue tubes and basically did some acting. Then we walked up stiffly to have a talk with the head lifesavers about sun safety and sea creatures to be aware of when at the beach. After the activities we had free time on the sand or we could sit and talk in the shade like I did. We talked about how much fun we had that day. Then before we could even count to five it was time to pack up, get changed and line up to catch the bus back to school. But first I had to walk up the steepest hill in my life! Michaela- Year 6
