Thank you for your support and attendanceof the Alabama Trucking Association’s73rd Annual Convention and Meeting.

We have an outstanding program planned, andI’m looking forward to being a part of this impor-tant industry event.

Our Convention offers a mix of business andpleasure to help you better network with industrycolleagues and stakeholders.

As the owner of a truck and equipment dealer-ship, I know firsthand how tough conditions arefor businesses across Alabama – and beyond. Thegood news is things are turning around, andtrucking appears to be on the cusp of recovery. Ofcourse, we still face many obstacles such as grow-ing operational costs and proposed changes to keyregulations that threaten our ability to remainprofitable.

Hopefully, your time at our meeting will spuryou to build a stronger and safer trucking industryfor Alabama. We have enlisted the best and bright-est minds in the business to share their thoughtsfor what lies ahead for trucking.

Here are the highlights: On Thursday evening, please join us as we kick

things off at a welcome reception, which includesfellowship with your colleagues, family andfriends; a superb dinner; and a spectacular fire-works display over the beach. You will not want tomiss this, I promise!

Then Friday morning we get things going withour annual business meeting to discuss the obsta-cles that face our industry. The program includesan expert panel discussion on how to best copewith rising fuel costs. Representatives from severaloriginal equipment manufacturers will discusswhat their respective organizations are developingto help truckers get the best fuel economy possible.

The rest of the afternoon is yours to visit thebeach, the surrounding Sandestin grounds, or havecartoonist Deano Minton draw a caricature of youand your family – he’ll be set up from 2 – 4 p.m.at the hotel pool area.

Whatever you chose to do with your free time,

make sure you make it back Friday evening to joinATA Workers’ Comp Fund and Avizent for heavyhors d’oeuvres and cocktails (This event is open toall convention attendees).

Saturday morning, American TruckingAssociations Chairman Barbara Windsor willaddress our group with updates from the nationalorganizations. Afterwards, we will hold ourConvention golf tournament at the BaytowneGolf Club. To register, simply visit the ATA con-vention registration booth or ask an ATA staffmember for more info.

Later that evening, we will celebrate the leader-ship of current ATA Chairman of the Board GailCooper.

Gail has been a hands-on leader, leading ourAssociation with grace, dignity and a dedication tomaking the industry better, stronger and safer.During the program, we will honor our currentAlabama Truck Driver of the Year Louie Haynesand will announce this year’s winner of the H.Chester Webb Award, which is this Association’shighest honor for a member. Wrapping up theevening’s festivities, we will raffle a weekend get-away package at the Sandestin Grand Hotel – butyou must be present to win!

Finally, I thank our many Convention sponsorsthis year. This has been one of best years we’ve hadin terms of membership support and sponsorship. As you look through the pages of this publication, please make special note of the businesses thatsupported your Convention. Their generosity andcommitment to trucking is strong, and they’re thereason this Association can produce such a worth-while event.

I look forward to seeing you this weekend. Ifyou have suggestions on how we can improve ourmeeting, please let me know.

SESSION I:The recent upward trend of diesel costs has been a blow for trucking companies as the nation’s

economy continues to feel the effects of the worst downturn in a generation. As of the first week onApril, diesel rose for the 17th time 18 weeks, gaining 4.4 cents to a national average $3.976 per gal-lon, according to the Department of Energy. Energy experts say that trucking’s main fuel has risen81.2 cents since last Thanksgiving and is 96.1 cents higher than this time last year.

For trucking companies, the run-up in fuel comes at a time when most would otherwise be gear-ing up for an economic turnaround. In addition, many still are recovering from pricey expendituresto meet clean-air rules. Many companies pass on costs to customers with fuel surcharges, but forothers that’s not an option. During the opening session of Friday’s business meeting, several repre-sentatives from leading truck and engine manufacturers will discuss and answer questions on howfleets can achieve maximum fuel efficiency. Our expert panel is composed of the following:

Alabama Trucking Association

Workers’ Compensation Fund Members

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen:

Enclosed you will find a copy of the Summarized Audited Financial Statements of the Alabama Trucking

Association Workers’ Compensation Fund for the year ended December 31, 2010.

The Auditors conducted their

audit in accordance with U.S. generally accepted auditing standards. Those standards require

the Auditors to plan

and perform the audit to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the fin

ancial statements are free of material

misstatement. Upon the completion of all necessary examination of the eviden

ce supporting the amounts included

in these financial statements and assessing the accounting principles used and significant estimates made by manage-

ment, the Auditors determined that their a

udit provided a reasonable basis for

issuing their opinion. Their opinion

concluded that these financial statements present fairly, in all material respect

s, the financial position of the

Alabama Trucking Association Worker’s Compensation Self Insurance Fund as of December 31, 2010.

These financial statements reflect the Fund has accumulated total p

rofits, net of distributions, of $18,685

,660 set

aside for future retrospectiv

e credits to be refunded as directe

d by State Requirements of the Alabama Department

of Industrial Relations. The total amount of retrospective credits pre

viously distributed back to

participating mem-

bers, since inception of the Fund, is $39,217,318. In addition, the Fund will distribute b

ack $5,684,077 on January

1, 2011 to respective partic

ipating members with their 2011 calendar year renewals.

This report includes the overall operation

s of the Fund which consists of both our Alabama and Cross Border pro-

grams. The claims losses reflected in the Consolidated Stat

ement of Income and Deductions includes loss reserves

which are required to pay incurred but not reported (I

BNR) losses as determined by the Fun

d’s independent

Actuarial firm. In our reserving practices, the Board of Trustees maintains a very conservative appr

oach so that the

Fund is protected from the effects of

irregular occurring claims losses. After having made these year

-end adjust-

ments, the combined overall operating profit for th

e year ended December 31, 2010 is $3,512,920

. With the con-

clusion of the 2010 calendar year, the B

oard of Trustees is pleased to report

that we have continued our long stand-

ing profitable operating performance. The Board wishes to emphasize that i

ts primary goals still remain to protect

the financial integrity of the Fund while returning profits to pa

rticipating members.

In closing, we always wish to take the opportunity to reinforce our loss

control emphasis where we believe the best

approach to curbing increases in your company’s operating expenses is to strive

to maximize your company’s empha-

sis on loss control. To support you in obtaining this goal, w

e have four loss control engineers working in the field,

and our website (www.atacompfund.org) dedicated to assisting our particip

ating member companies in their loss

control and safety program efforts. We encourage you t

o take advantage of these resources and to remember to

always Work Safe / Work Smart.

We hope this information will assist you i

n evaluating the strength and quality of our program.

Respectfully,

Kimble E. Coaker, CPA
