ATDC and APSSDC bond over MoU

Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) recently

signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for two

years with the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development

Corporation (APSSDC) with a hope to meet the rising

requirement skilled youth in the rapidly growing

textile/fashion related sectors. The MoU aims at

imparting employment oriented training and encourages entrepreneurship through skill

development to the youth and women. According to the MoU ATDC and APSSDC will

offer skill training programs in the capital area for the village population who have been

engaged in the land pooling process. ATDC targets to train all the willing young

generation ranging from school drop-outs to college graduates of the state by offering

specific vocational training programs in line with the skills needed for the job and

demands of the industry.

ATDC SIGNS MOU WITH APSSDC FOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT IN TEXTILE AND GARMENT SECTOR – YARNS AND FIBERS

Apparel Training and Design Centre

(ATDC) signed an MOU with Andhra

Pradesh State Skill Development

Corporation (APSSDC) for skill

development in textile and garment

sector. The MoU has been signed

initially for a period of 2 Years and it

aims at imparting employment oriented

training and encourages entrepreneurship through Skill Development to the youth &

women.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh

Shri N Chandrababu Naidu, Minister Atchannaidu Kinjarapu, Labour & Employment,

Factories, Youth & Sports, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Shri.

Mallikarjuna Rao, Chairman APSSDC at Vijayawada. The MoU was signed between Dr.

Darlie Koshy, DG&CEO, ATDC and Dr. Subbarao Ghanta, MD & CEO, APSSDC.

MoU outlines the commitment of both the parties to enter into joint initiatives in which

ATDC offer specific vocational training programs as per the skills needed for the job and

demands of the industry to train particularly youth.

ATDC will also leave no stones unturned to impart necessary skills to empower the

students which would help them in getting job and starting their own business. Special

About ATDC

Apparel Training & Design Centre (ATDC), under the aegis of AEPC has emerged as

India’s Largest Vocational Training Network for the Apparel Sector with around 200

ATDCs including 65 ATDC Vocational Institutes and over 135 ATDC- SMART Centers

and Skill Camps present in major Apparel clusters spread across 22 states & 85 cities

Pan India. ATDC has 9 centers in Andhra Pradesh and has trained approximately 4000

students till date under SMART and AVI Courses.

SKILLS TRAINING IN ANDHRA

The Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) signed an MOU with Andhra Pradesh

State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) for training and skilling workers in the

rapidly growing textile/fashion related sectors. Imparting employment-oriented training

and encouraging entrepreneurship through skill development to the youth and women is

the aim of the MoU, which has been signed for an initial period of two years. Skill-

training programs will be offered by ATDC and APSSDC in the capital for the rural

population engaged in the land pooling process.

School dropouts and college graduates from all over the state are the target groups.

ATDC will offer specific vocational training programs according to the skills needed for

the job and industry demands.

As Darlie Koshy, DG&CEO of ATDC said that ATDC would not leave any stone

Andhra Pradesh To Form Sector Skill Council

In the first meeting of the Advisory Council of

the AP State Skill Development Corporation,

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu

suggested setting up a sector-skill council in the

state on the lines of the National Sector Skill

Council.

“The Sector Skill Council can be established in

the state and be led by local industrialists from 42 sectors identified by the National

Skills. This will help in re-skilling, up-skilling and new-skilling of people,” the Chief

Minister added.

According to the Chief Minister, this will not only address the skill gap but also help us

measure outcomes, productivity and improve efficiency.

The Chief Minister was informed that the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development

Corporation (APSSDC) is working with Siemens and has established 36 Centres of

Excellence in 6 clusters in the hub-and-spoke model apart from the existing skill

development centres.

The APSSDC under the chairmanship of G. Mallikarjuna Rao has the studied UP,

Rajasthan, Gujarat and New Zealand models of skill development. “We have made

significant inroads in IT sector and we are also moving into the manufacturing sector,”

the CM was informed.

Under Electronic System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM), 15,000 students will be

trained in 14 courses. The APSSDC will begin this as a pilot with 1,000 students in all

districts.

In IT skill training, the Chief Minister was informed that APSSDC has inked MoUs with

Nasscom in ‘Cyber security’ and Data Analytics’.

Further, the APSSDC is also working in tribal areas by utilizing Youth training centres

and has signed MoUs for multi-skilling. 3,000 students will be trained in these areas by

March 2016.

That apart, the APSSDC has identified 20,000 people from 29 villages of the Capital

Region who will be trained in 14 sectors. The APSSDC will partner with UNDP/IKEA to

train 5,000 women in 10 clusters on handicrafts.

“We need to take people to jobs instead of the routine of taking jobs to people,” he

concluded.

group of the trainings range from school drop out to college graduates in all parts of the

state. The MoU outlines the commitment of both the parties to enter into joint initiatives

in which ATDC offer specific vocational training programs as per the skills needed for

The MoU has been signed initially for a period of 2 Years and it aims at imparting

employment oriented training and encourages entrepreneurship through Skill

Development to the youth & women. According to the MoU ATDC and APSSDC will

offer skill training programs in the capital area for the village population who have been

engaged in the land pooling process. The target group of the trainings range from

school drop out to college graduates in all parts of the state. The MoU outlines the

commitment of both the parties to enter into joint initiatives in which ATDC offer specific

vocational training programs as per the skills needed for the job and demands of the

industry to train particularly youth.
