The choice for Professionals in

Hazardous EnvironmentsWhether on an oil rig, in a gas installation oranother potentially explosive environment, safeand reliable communications are paramount. That is why Motorola has brought together threekey elements: its 75 year expertise incommunications; its wide experience ofproducing two-way radios for use in hazardousenvironments; and its proven Professional Seriestwo-way radio platform.

Launched in 1999, Motorola Professional SeriesPortable Radios are the de facto standard for on the-move radio communications. By adding fourATEX versions to the portfolio, it has never beeneasier to find a radio suited to yourorganisation’s operating environment andcommunications requirements.

Motorola’s ATEX-approved Professional SeriesPortable Radios give team members instantaccess to one or many colleagues at the touchof a button, without compromising safety, andallow constant contact should a critical situationneed resolving.

Quality & ReliabilityRenowned for their durability, MotorolaProfessional Series Portable Radios offerunrivalled crystal clear audio quality by activatingeither Motorola’s X-PandTM technology or ‘LowLevel Expansion.’ This reduces noise usuallyheard during conversational pauses. Whendiscretion is key, the ‘whisper’ function meansthat even the quietest message can betransmitted and understood.

Robust and reliable, all radios have passedMotorola’s rigorous Accelerated Life Test whichsimulates five years of hard use in the field, andare IP54 compliant for use in environmentswhere dust ingress can leave other radiosstanding. In addition, the Motorola ProfessionalSeries Portable Radios are designed and built toexceed the 11 applicable tests of the exactingstandard MIL Spec 810E; the quality hallmark ofthe US military.

SafetyPress the highly visible orange EmergencyButton to initiate the organisation’s definedemergency communications procedure.Providing even greater safety for employees inhazardous environments, Motorola provides anew ATEX-approved mandown option board forthe GP340, GP380 and GP680 ATEX radios. Thisfactory-fitted option board automaticallysummons assistance when the radio falls overor remains motionless for a predetermined timeperiod.

Additional safety features include a specially- designed battery connection that prevents non-ATEX approved batteries from being fitted to theradios. The lockable accessory connector plugfeatures a tamper-proof screw to control the useof accessories.

ProductivityAvoid missed calls as the Channel Scan functionallows activity on different communicationschannels to be monitored and answered. Whenworking offsite or close to other users,‘Talkaround’ lets users communicate withoutusing the system or dispatcher.

EconomyAll Motorola Professional Series ATEX radios aresupplied with a soft leather carry case and anewly designed Lithium Ion battery that willexceed the capacity requirements of mostshifts. Organisations that already maintainMotorola Professional Series Portable Radiofleets can use existing chargers.

CustomisableThe GP340 EX, GP380 EX, GP580 EX andGP680 EX are supported by a range of ATEX-approved audio accessories including, headsetsand remote speaker microphones tailored to therequirements of today’s radio users.

GP340 EX & GP380 EXUsers of PL/5-Tone signalling radios can upgradeor add to their fleet with the Popular GP340 EXor the Versatile GP380 EX.

With 16 communication channels, the GP340 EXis the simple two-way radio solution forprofessionals who need to stay in contact. Its streamlined eatres allow users toconcentrate on the job with help only a buttonpress away. When the user is unavailable toreceive calls, the Call Forward function meansthat the message gets through to a colleaguewho can help. An audible low battery alert helpsusers sideste radio dontime.

To protect users further, both radios feature abuilt in ‘Lone Worker’ tool. Should a user notrespond to a regular warning signal thenEmerency Sinallin is activated, as definedby the organisation.

The 255-channel GP380 EX is designed for moresophisticated users who require the addednctionality of a full keypad and need tocommunicate with a larger number of users andgroups.

In addition to the features of the GP340 EX,GP380 EX users benefit from the ease-o-seafforded by a 14-character 7-language alpha-numeric display containing a battery gauge. The contact list function means that callers canbe quickly and easily identified and prioritised. In addition, predefined text messages can besent between GP380 EX users to communicatemeaningful messages when it is inconvenient orinappropriate to send a voice message.

GP580 EXFor users of StartSite, Smartone and SmartNet systems, the Versatile GP580 EXprovides organisations with the combined power of a trunked radio system and aMotorola Professional Series radio suitable for use in a potentially hazardousenvironment.

The RSSI roaming feature extends communications beyond the reach of a singletrunked site for seamless commnication. When moving between trunked sites, the radio will switch to the strongest available signal.

ommnication secrity is key and Selective Radio Inhibit allows a radio to beblocked remotely should it be lost or stolen, and unblocked upon retrieval. The Remote Monitor Function lets authorised individuals listen to voice traffic shoulda security issue be identified.

Manae Emerencies with the integrated emergency alarm that gives priority access to defined talkgroups and identifies the radio user who requires assistance. Emergency calls can be directed to specific talkgroups, sites or announcement groups.

The alpha-numeric and iconic display allows easy access to the intuitive menu, talkgroup identities, phone book and contact list. Along with a battery gauge icon, these are all features that make using the GP580 EX easy.

GP680 EXOrganisations with MPT1327/MPT1343 systems can harness the power of an ATEX-approved Motorola Professional Series Portable Radio with the Versatile GP680 EX.

GP680 EX users benefit from the ease-o-se afforded by a 14-character 9-languagealpha-numeric display containing a battery gauge and signal strength indicator. The contact list function makes calls easy and allows inbound callers to be quicklyand easily identified and prioritised. In addition, predefined text messages can besent between GP680 EX users to communicate meaningful messages when it isinconvenient or inappropriate to use voice.

void radio dontime thanks to Dynamic Regrouping for over-the-airreconfiguration of the radio plus download of group names.
