MONALISA: Attachment of Vacuum Vessels for ATF2
David Urner
Basic Idea• Use Compact Straightness Monitor to relate top of QD0
magnet with top of Shintake Monitor• Use Distance Meters to monitor pole tip of magnet and
IP-BPM.

First approximation:
Assume double bellowsystem decouples perfectly.

6 Strain gauges• Needs bellow to allow motion of BPM– Vacuum causes a force
order of 100N! • Develop small force
vacuum mount using double bellow system.
• Allows small motion (~1 mm) of BPM- system
• Test stand to measure remaining (perpendicular) force on BPM frame.
Proceed to a FEA of Full System
• Find way to model vacuum bellow in FEA
• Use prototype in lab to validate model
Here attach vacuum tube for interferometerAttached to BPM.
Holds retro reflector.

More Input needed• To prove that no unwanted frequencies will be introduced: We will
do a integrated FEA of Shintake-Table+MONALISA-Vacuum-System– Requires Parameters of Shintake table.– Boundary conditions.– Helpful: get Model Report from Shintake-table FEA.
• Any additional information about size and structure of new Shintake Monitor Mounting system.
• Fundamental Question:– Is space free on top of Shintake Monitor?– Is space free on top of QD0?– How much weight can we add to the QD0 magnet (movers)?– Is it ok to attach our bracket to Shintake Monitor scaffolding?
• Can we orient QD0 in such a way that the terminal side is downstream and can we mount the BPM on this side of the magnet?
