1. GENERAL INFORMATION

1.1. INTRODUCTION

The purpose of the Athlete’s Guide is to ensure that all athletes, coaches and Team Leaders are well

informed about all procedures concerning the Event. The LOC ensures that the information

contained in this Guide is correct and up‐to‐date as of the production date. However, athletes,

coaches and Team Leaders are advised to check with the event office regarding any changes in

information included in this guide.

2. COVID-19 MEASUREMENTS FOR ATHLETES AND COACHES

2. Airport Transfer

Anyone using public transportation systems must use a face mask, face covering is mandatory.

Everyone is recommended to disinfect their hands before entering trains/buses. There are no bus

transports provided by the LOC.

3. Accommodation

Follow the specific measures that need to be respected at the hotel. Inside hotels and restaurants it

is mandatory to wear a face mask unless you are sitting at a table. Once you leave the table you have

to wear the mask.

4. Training sites Follow the specific measures that need to be respected at the training site. Athletes are

recommended to keep distance during running and cycling sessions.

5. Testing protocol and health screening

In line with efforts of World Triathlon to provide the safest possible environment at all World

Triathlon events this season, are requiring all participants (athletes, coaches and NF support team)

to the World Triathlon event to complete a pre-event Covid-19 screening questionnaire and submit

relevant health documents within the week before the event.

ELITE ATHLETES / PARA TRIATHLETES:

● Perform an Antigenic or PCR swap pre- travel test within 72 hours before the athletes’ travel

to the event or no later than 6 days before the event for local athletes/team support and

NTOs. Tests that must currently be taken to gain entry to a country are valid as pre-travel

tests

● Submit a pre-travel medical certificate according to the requirements above.

● Complete the pre-event Covid-19 screening questionnaire (and attach the two documents

above)

● An additional Antigen test will be made on site on Friday 17th September between 18:00 and

20:00, linked with the race pack distribution for Elite and Para. . In case of a positive result, a

PCR swab test must follow.. Time slots by country are as follows:

coming to registration/race kit distribution.

No race kit/accreditation will be distributed if the above is not duly completed.

6. Athlete’s briefing

The briefing will be held online at the following date and time:

Elite: Friday 17 September – 16:00-17:00 - online

German briefing will be pre-recorded and available as of 18:00

Recordings will be available on https://triathlon.org/about/downloads/category/race_briefings

If live, participants will attend the TD presentation and can contribute questions or feedback through

the online Q&A function. If people cannot attend the session in real time, the presentation will be

recorded and published on the World Triathlon website for later viewing.

7. Race package distribution

The athlete must pick up the race pack in person at the venue.

Elite/Para: Friday, 17th Sept. 18.00-20.00 EMK House (next to Town Hall)

Age Groups: Saturday, 18th Sept. 11.00-14.00* Stadtsaal/Town Hall, follow markings

*A schedule per country will be communicated in the week of the event on www.powerman.swiss

Athletes have to present the pre-event questionnaire.

Please bring the already signed “athletes waiver” with you, download on www.powerman.swiss

The use of masks and social distancing is mandatory in the venue.

8. Health screening

Temperature level checks will be performed every time the athletes and coaches are on site including

at the times of the athletes’ package distribution and familiarizations. Temperature above 37.5°C will

be reported to the RMD/MD.

9. Competition activities

a. Mask:

- Should be worn until the last minute before athletes’ introduction.

- Please make sure that you will wear your mask after the warm-up.

b. Finish Area

- Timing chip removal must be done by the athlete, who must deposit the timing chip to a

specific bin close to the exit of the post-finish area.

- Medallist photos at the post-finish area are not allowed.

- All recovery stations will be self-served.

- Food provided will be individually wrapped.

- Massage facilities will not be provided.

- Athletes must avoid lying or sitting down on the blue carpet (without any medical

need/problems). A minimum number of volunteers will be available to support the athletes

and make sure that the athletes are not congregating at the post finish area. These

volunteers will wear rubber/disposable gloves and masks/mouth-nose face covering.

- Masks will be distributed to the athletes to wear at their earliest convenience.

c. Medal Ceremonies

Medal ceremonies will be performed according to the COVID-19 guidelines for medal

ceremonies that can be found on the World Triathlon COVID-19 Guidelines for Event

Organizers.

10. Spectators’ access

The event will be open to spectators. Any non-accredited person can watch the event from the

spectator’s areas.

11. Accreditation

Only one accreditation to coach and team medical per National Federation allowed if they have

been registered by the National Federation.

12. All facilities used by the athletes will be cleaned and disinfected by the LOC through the day.

13. COVID-19 medical protocols

b. Protocols to be followed in case of a positive case: The person has to - follow the instructions of the medical staff

- go to isolation at his accommodation; costs at the expense of the athlete

- inform the person he/she was in close contact

3. VENUE

3.1. VENUE

3.2 COURSE FAMILIARIZATION

There is no official familiarisation. You can ride the course whenever you want, but be careful as the

roads are not closed.

3.3. ATHLETE’S LOUNGE

Location: Stadtsaal Zofingen.

Athletes should leave the athlete’s lounge as soon as they are recovered to avoid contacts in the

lounge.

Location: Stadtsaal/Town hall. Doping tests will be conducted according to World Triathlon/WADA

rules. The athletes must carry their identification to the doping control facilities.

5. TRANSFER AND TRANSPORT

By plane:

The international Airport ZURICH-KLOTEN (ZRH) is 60km from Zofingen.

The train from Zurich airport to Zofingen takes 1 h.

The international Airport BASEL-MULHOUSE (BSL) is 60km from Zofingen.The bus from the airport to

Basel railway station takes 15 min and the train from Basel to Zofingen takes 40 min.

By train:

Switzerland has one of the world’s best train systems. Trains are very reliable and on time. You can

travel to Zurich railway station from all big cities in Europe. From Zurich main station it takes you 40

min to Zofingen with one change in Olten.

By car:

Enough parking available but you have to pay for it. For free parking please contact your hotel.

6. ATHLETE'S SERVICES

6.1. TRAINING FACILITIES

See City Guide 9.

6.2. MEDICAL SERVICES

● First Aid and Emergency Medical Services will be available at the Registration area before

and during the training sessions and during the race. There will be First Aid and Emergency

Medical Services in the Town hall on competition day.

● Medical and Paramedical personnel will be available throughout the race. Several

ambulances will be available to provide emergency transfers to a nearby hospital. A medical

area will be provided on site at the finish area.

● Medical services at the venue are free of charge. Treatment in private hospitals are to be

paid by participants. Athletes / teams should make sure that they have appropriate medical

insurance.

7.4. TIMING CHIPS

On race day athletes will have to wear their timing chip, to be worn on the athletes’ left ankle. Athletes will pick up the timing chips before the competitions, during their registration/race package distribution.

7.5. RESULTS AND LIVESTREAM

Live results can be accessed via Datasport www.datasport.com/live/startlist/?racenr=23556 Results will be uploaded on the World Triathlon official website www.triathlon.org and on www.powerman.swiss The whole race will have an international full TV live stream 07.55-16.00. Standard procedures will be followed according to the World Triathlon Competition Rules.

8. ACCREDITATION

The LOC will provide to all the Organizing Committee Members, World Triathlon Technical Officials,

Athletes, VIPs, media, technical staff, court personnel, volunteers, etc. with an official Accreditation

Card.

Accreditations will only be distributed at the LOC Office (see 3.7.)

Only accredited people will be allowed to access certain venue areas. Accreditation Cards provide

access to specific areas of the competition areas.

All accredited people are requested to carry their Accreditation Cards with them at all times and to

show them upon request. Accreditation Cards are mandatory to enter the venue.

Central European Summer Time (CEST) is 1 hour ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). This

Special needs zones:

Athletes can ask for 2 bags at the registration, one for the run course, one for the bike course, to

place their private nutrition at the racecourse at the dedicated “Special needs zone”. They have to

write bib number, name and bike or run on the bag and have to place the bags by themselves at the

special need zone before the start. During the race, the athletes have to pick-up by themselves the

nutrition out of the bag.

Individual coaching is not allowed (only for elite athletes by accredited coaches in the official

coaching areas).

Exact distance: 9.2 km (total)

Number of laps: 2 (4.6 km each)

Profile: Hilly, 50% unpaved
