Getting started…To find out if we’re right for each other we’ve designed a process that is easy to follow and helps you show us your best and learn more about ours.It will be challenging at times and you’ll need to plan your time to help you give it your all. We’re on hand to guide you through.

STEP 1

Find the right role for you.

Using our vacancy matrix, or the online ‘graduate role finder’ will lead you to one or more options. Spend some time considering them, as you can only apply to one role, and we want it to be the right one for you.

STEP 2

Register your details

So you’ve chosen the role, and you’re ready to apply. We’ll ask you to kick things off by completing a short registration process designed to gather some basic details about you.

STEP 3

Situational judgment test

With your computer, find somewhere quiet where you’ll be able to focus. We’ll present a range of work-based scenarios to you in video format and you’ll select the most/least likely outcome from a list of options.

STEP 4

Full application

Here you’ll give us some more information about you, your experience, education, etc.

STEP 5

Numerical and inductive reasoning tests

Again, find somewhere quiet you can focus undisturbed. It’s time for some short tests to assess your abilities.

STEP 6

Telephone interview

You’ll arrange this at a time that suits you. Here we’ll want to find out more about who you are and how you’ve learnt from your experiences to date.

STEP7

Graduate assessment centre

Here you’ll spend some time with us and others all vying for a place on the programme. Show us your best in a series of activities as this is the last opportunity to impress. We’ll let you know as soon as possible whether you’ll be offered a position. Either way, you’ll receive feedback.

Page 7: Atkins_graduate_brochure_2016

Industrial placements -

These are longer placements for students and count towards your university degree. They typically last between 8-12 months. Here you’ll get the opportunity to immerse yourself as an Atkins employee and will work on real projects, which are enriching lives. On either of our programmes you’ll be welcomed into our undergraduate community where you’ll find support from your colleagues.

UndergraduatesGet a head start on your career

If you’re currently at university, then spending time on a placement or internship with us will help you get a better understanding of the areas that inspire you the most.

You’ll be able to develop your technical skills and gain valuable experience to add to your CV. You’ll also be making important contacts in the industry and if you do well and like what we do, you’ll be able to fast-track through part of the graduate process later on. In fact, this would be the ideal starting point for a graduate career with us.

Our paid undergraduate opportunities include:

Summer internships -

For students who are currently studying at university. Internships are available for all degree years, but please check job descriptions for individual business requirements. A summer internship could last anywhere from 8-12 weeks, just enough time to give you an insight into working life, and life at Atkins.

How do I apply and what is the process?

Our undergraduate roles typically go live in September and you can search and apply via our careers website. Our ‘graduate role finder’ or vacancy matrix will help you consider the sectors you will be eligible for. Consider the options carefully as you’ll only be able to make one application.

When you’ve submitted your online application we’ll review your details and get in touch to advise you of the next step. If you’ve been shortlisted, your application will then be reviewed by the hiring manager and you could be invited to interview. It’s a short process, so make sure you give as much detail as you can in your initial application.
