Get a Jump on Atlantic City Restaurant Week at Exclusive Preview Party February 26 at Atlantic City Country Club

(Atlantic City, NJ, January 27, 2014) – If you’re looking forward to Atlantic City Restaurant Week www.acrestaurantweek.com) March 2-8, 2014, you may want to jump start your taste buds at an exclusive preview party produced by the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority Division of CRDA and hosted by Atlantic City Country Club on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tickets are now on sale for “A Taste of Atlantic City Restaurant Week,” an exclusive preview. The VIP event features 14 of the restaurants that are participating in Restaurant Week showcasing their best menus, all while raising funds for some area charities. Advance ticket purchases are recommended due to the limited number available; tickets sold at the door will be limited to the balance of tickets not sold in advance. Advance tickets are available only online at www.acrestaurantweek.com. But you’d better hurry because tickets go fast – only 300 tickets will be sold, at $35.00 each. The ticket price includes the tasting and live music. A cash bar will be available. The restaurants will serve “tasting size” portions of items that will be included on their special Restaurant Week menus, as well as specialties from their regular menus. It’s an opportunity to try everything from meatloaf sliders from 6ix a Bistro at Bally’s and short rib mac & cheese from Broadway Burger Bar at Tropicana, to a special sea bass recipe by Azure by Allegretti in Revel or fileto di manzo from Capriccio at Resorts. Caesar Entertainment’s award-winning pastry chef Deb Pellegrino will provide her unique dessert tastings, and a dish created by students at Atlantic Cape Community College’s Culinary Institute will also be featured. The students will participate in a Pre-Chef Grand Prix competition prior to the event, and the winning team’s entrée will be prepared by Atlantic City Country Club’s chefs for the event. One hundred percent of proceeds will benefit Community FoodBank of NJ/Southern Branch, Alcove of Atlantic County and the scholarship fund of the ACCVA Foundation, which provides scholarships to members of the winning Pre-Chef Grand Prix team. More than 80 fine restaurants from throughout Atlantic County will participate in Atlantic City Restaurant Week, offering special fixed price lunch menus for $15.14 and dinners for $33.14 (tax, gratuity and beverage not included). The actual value of the meals is significantly greater than the Restaurant Week price, offering diners an opportunity to try new restaurants or revisit favorites while taking advantage of bargain prices.  Atlantic City, NJ (February 12, 2014): Eight teams of students studying at the Academy of Culinary Arts cranked up the heat in this year’s Pre Chef Grand Prix held last Sunday at Atlantic Cape Community College’s Mays Landing campus.  Teams were judged on presentation, taste, creativity and cost when tasked with preparing a three‐course dinner menu suitable to be served for an Atlantic City Restaurant Week meal at a $33.14 price point.  The competition was judged by Frank Dougherty, owner of Dock’s Oyster House, Knife and Fork Inn and Harry’s Oyster Bar, Ed Hitzel, host of “Ed Hitzel’s Table for One” radio show, and Ed Hitzel’s Restaurant Magazine, and Nina Davuluri, Miss America 2014.  The teams were mentored by ACA chef instructors Chef LaTorre, Chef Walman, Chef Chelius, Chef Sarano and Chef Mattes. The competition was overseen by Dean of the ACA, Kelly McClay, and ACA Director of Culinary Operations, Chef Bruce Johns.  Teams Beef Cakes, Cereal Killers, Do ACA, High Stakes, Holy Guacamole, Hungry People, Imperial Fire and Team Cuisine competed, with Team “Holy Guacamole” (Steven Calhoun, Blaise Colamarino, Confesor Barrientos Jr. and Kate Trivelis) winning the top prize which included a $1,000 scholarship for each team member, a 9” Berghoff chef knife and the opportunity to feature their menu (Caramelized Onion and Pear Soup; Grilled Pork Chop and Lemon Sabayon) at ‘A Taste of Atlantic City Restaurant Week’ being held on February 26, 2014 at the Atlantic City Country Club.  A limited number of tickets for this exclusive event are still available at www.acrestaurantweek.com.
