ATLANTIC ENTERPRISE VESSEL SPECIFICATIONS WALK-TO-WORK
OAS
The Atlantic Enterprise comes equipped with an OAS Gangway.
The OAS is a patented heave-compensated walkway designed for use in the demanding conditions of the North Sea to 3m - 4m Hs, or any similar global offshore environment, which allows safe access from a support vessel to an offshore structure. The system provides a safe, reliable and cost-effective solution for transferring personnel offshore. All that is required on the offshore structure is a landing zone, or a vertical pole fitted on the platform.
The system can also be used as a fully Active Heave Compensated Crane, with a capacity of up to 475kg. It is perfect for transporting tools across to platforms with a 30m hook height.
The OAS Gangway can operate in 2 modes:
1. Pole Latch Mode (long term connections)
The walkway is extended and manoeuvred against a vertical pole on the offshore installation.
A constant force system ensures that pressure is exerted against the pole and the walkway lathes to the pole. Once secured the walkway is then lowered onto the horizontal platform and the heave-compensation system is disengaged, which allows the walkway to ‘float’ between the vessel and the installation.
2. Elephants foot / friction mode
The walkway operates in the same way as the pole/latch mode above, but uses a friction pad (elephants foot) to land onto the platform, so does not require the pole installation on the landing zone.
In both Pole latch and elephants foot modes the walkway is robustly connected at both ends to the fixed structure and automatically compensates for the six movement planes of the vessel motion, thereby allowing the safe transfer of personnel to commence.

1. This is the distance from the ship's side to the connection point at mid stroke 2. These figures do not take into account the motion or the potential variation in the draft of the vessel 3. This load equates to three persons 4. These heights take MSL as the datum height and depend on the vessel freeboard

WALK-TO-WORK
The Atlantic Enterprise can also come equipped with
other options for Gangway systems in conjunction with
the OAS:
Ampelmann A-Type and A-Type Enhanced
Performance:
The A-type is a full active motion compensation access
system designed to transfer 20 personnel safely and
efficiently in only five minutes and move cargo loads of
up to 100 kg with the KIB cargo basket from vessels to
offshore structures. The system has a proven track
record with more than 100 projects worldwide.
Ampelmann's AEP has been even further developed to
give a 10% increase in workability over previous designs.
The AEP contains advanced hardware, and uses state of
the art Motion Control techniques. The system is able to
safely transfer people and cargo in wave heights up to
4m Hs.
SMST:
The SMST active motion compensation system
compensates the movements of the tip of the gangway,
by three movements namely the slewing, telescoping
and luffing. The gangway maintains its connections by
making use of those same degrees of freedom. It can be
used for both access of fixed platforms and vessel to
vessel operations.
The access bridge can be used for handling of cargo via a
hook or winch. On the bridge tip will be a winch installed
for the cargo handling on deck, to a wind turbine or in
the harbour. The cargo handling will be safely
performed by the Active Motion Compensation of the
Access Bridge. The Gangway can handle transfers of up
to 300kg.
Please see separate Amplemann A-Type
specifications sheet for full information.
