Why UWC Atlantic College
Facilities
The College Campus - The college campus is centred around a
medieval 12th Century castle in which there are classrooms,
offices, a library, assembly hall and a dining hall. There are
also classrooms in a number of other buildings. We also have
a social centre, a multigym, a dance studio and an indoor and
an outdoor swimming pool. Nearby there are tennis courts, a
basketball court and a five-a side soccer pitch. There is also a
sports field for playing soccer and rugby. We have an organic
farm in which cattle and sheep are reared, along with extensive
woodlands and fields.
Accommodation – Students will live in the Atlantic pre-Diploma
house which accommodates approximately 24 students with
separate accommodation for Houseparents.
Living – Students will experience our UWC extra-curricular
programme and will have opportunities to engage with and be
mentored by the older IB Diploma students.
Location – St Donat’s Castle is located in a small picturesque
country village, St Donat’s, on the coast of the Vale of
Glamorgan in South Wales. It is very close to the small town of
Llantwit Major, which is home to a number of local amenities
including shops, supermarkets, restaurants, leisure facilities and
an excellent beach for water sports. The large town of Bridgend
and Wales’ capital city, Cardiff, are in fairly close proximity,
meaning that the college is located within easy access of many
major transport links including bus, rail and air travel.
Results
UWC Atlantic College has a proven track record of successful
exam results and we are incredibly proud that we regularly
achieve world-ranking status with our IB scores. Our average IB
score is 37.
Your Future
We expect our students to leave us with a greater knowledge
of the English language and as confident individuals with open
minds and hearts. This course will be excellent preparation for
the IB Diploma course or any other pre-university course in the
English speaking world.
Students who wish to study at UWC Atlantic College for
the Atlantic Diploma, a combination of the International
Baccalaureate and the college’s own mission based experiential
learning programme, should demonstrate that they have the
potential for an academic course of study at IB Diploma level,
together with an understanding and appreciation of the UWC
ethos and values.
