Safety instructionsWarning• Make sure you are familiar with the operating in-

structions before you use this machine.• Before making any adjustments (e.g. setting the

torque, changing bits or sockets) disconnect themachine from the compressed air line.

• The machine, together with any attachments andaccessories, must never be used for anything otherthan the designed purpose.

• Use power sockets only. For safe and economicuse - replace worn sockets.

• Check that the power socket is properly fastened- replace the square drive retainer when necessary.

• Keep your fingers away from the power socketduring operation to avoid injury. Always workwith protective goggles.

• Avoid unnecessary idling, i.e. running the machineunloaded (free speed).

• When using a suspension yoke, check that it is ingood condition and correctly fastened.

General informationGeneralThe machine is designed for a working pressure (e)of 6.3 - 7 bar (max.) = 630 - 700 kPa (90 - 102 psi).

If the compressed air line pressure is higher than7 bar it is preferable reduced with a pressure regulat-or of the type Atlas Copco REG.

The Atlas Copco Air Line Test equipment is suit-able for checking of air pressure and airflow at theinstallation point (please see AirLine Accessories inour main catalogue).

The machine can operate at a lower workingpressure. Maximum torque will be reduced at lowerpressures.A If frequent used for tightening or loosening

that need longer time than 3-5 seconds, alarger wrench should be used. Otherwise theservicelife of the impact mechanism will bereduced.

T Please make sure that the impact screwdriveris only used for its intended purposes. In theevent of inappropriate use, impact sparkscan occur between the socket wrench andthe screw or nut to be tightened. It is there-fore recommended that torque wrenches areused exclusively. Before using the impactscrewdriver, please make sure that this toolis not worn and that a perfectly tight-fittingconnection is assured between the screw-driver and the screw or nut to be tightened.Furthermore, it must also be assured thatthere is a perfect tight-fitting connectionbetween the square drive pin of the screw-driver and the square retainer of the torquewrench. Furthermore, the impact screwdrivermust be earthed to the equipotential bondingsystem of the workshop, for instance throughsuitable accessories such as hoses and air-pressure connections.To avoid excessive increases in temperature,the operator must ensure that the workingpressure does not exceed 6.3 bar. The impactscrewdriver may only be used for fitting anddismantling work within the range of normalscrew cycles. It is not permitted to use thescrewdriver in constant operation (e.g. in-stead of a compressed air motor).National safety regulations must be properlyobserved, if the tool is to be used in areasthat are subject to an explosion hazard. It isthe responsibility of the user to make surethat all possible accessories for the tool,such as wrenches and air connections, con-form to the national safety regulations forequipment used in potentially explosiveareas.

A Maintenance and repairs of the tool must becarried out exclusively by authorised person-nel, after which a no-load test of at least 10minutes and temperature measurementsmust be carried out and recorded in a report.A maximum surface temperature of 135°Cmay not be exceeded.

InstallationAir quality• For optimum performance and maximum machine

life we recommend the use of compressed air witha maximum dew point of +10°C. We also recom-mend the installation of an Atlas Copco refrigera-tion-type air dryer.

• Use a separate air filter of type Atlas Copco FIL.This filter removes solid particles larger than 15microns and also removes more than 90 % of li-quid water. The filter must be installed as closeas possible to the machine/equipment and priorto any other air preparation unit such as REG orDIM (please see Air Line Accessories in our maincatalogue). Blow out the hose before connecting.

Models which need air lubrication:• The compressed air must contain a small quantity

of oil.We strongly recommend that you install an AtlasCopco oil-fog lubricator (DIM). This should beset according to air consumption by the air linetool according to the following formula:L = Air consumption (litre/s).(May be found in our sales literature).D = Number of drops per min (1 drop = 15 mm3)L* 0.2 = Dthis applies to the use of long work cycle air linetools. A single point lubricator type Atlas CopcoDosol can also be used for tools with short runningcycles.Information about Dosol settings may be foundunder Air Line Accessories in our main catalogue.

Lubrication-free models:• In the case of lubrication-free tools it is up to the

customer to decide on the peripheral equipmentto be used. However, it is no disadvantage if thecompressed air contains a small quantity of oile.g. supplied from a fog lubricator (DIM) or Dosolsystem. This does not apply to turbine tools, whichshould be kept oil free.

Compressed air connection• The machine is designed for a working pressure

of 6–7 bar = 600–700 kPa = 87–102 psi.• Blow out the hose before connecting.

HandlingTightening torqueThe torque obtained depends on air pressure andtightening time on the actual joint. Extensions andworn sockets will reduce the delivered torque. Theimpact wrench should be used within the specifiedtorque range. Never use the machine over recommen-ded maximum torque. Might result in improperfunction and faster wear.

Test methodsA static torque measurement is recommended forimpact wrenches.

For test on hydraulic tension tester and for test onjoints.

MaintenanceService instructionsOverhaul and preventive maintenance is recommen-ded at regular intervals once per year or after maxim-um 100.000 tightening depending on which occurssooner. More frequent overhaul may be needed ifthe machine is used in heavy-duty operations. If themachine not is working properly, it should immedi-ately be taken away for inspection.

The strainer at the air inlet and the exhaust silencershould be cleaned frequently or replaced in order toprevent clogging, which decreases the capacity.

At the overhauls, all parts should be cleaned accur-ately and defective or worn parts (i.e. O-rings, vanes)should be replaced. It is important that the machinesthreaded connections are tightened properly; i.e. inaccordance with the specifications on the explodedviews. Before assembly, lubricate the threads withgrease.

• Das Gerät und sein Zubehör dürfen nur für denvorgesehenen Zweck verwendet werden.

• Nur geeignete Steckschlüssel verwenden. Für Si-cherheit und Wirtschaftlichkeit müssen verschlis-sene Steckschlüssel ausgetauscht werden.

• Kontrollieren, daß der Steckschlüssel ordnungsge-mäß sitzt. Falls erforderlich, die Aufnahme fürden Innenvierkant austauschen.

• Während der Bedienung die Finger vom Steck-schlüssel entfernt halten, um Verletzungen zuvermeiden. Niemals ohne Schutzbrille arbeiten.

• Unnötigen Leerlauf vermeiden, z.B. das unbelas-tete Gerät laufen lassen (Leerlauf).

• Bei Verwendung eines Aufhängebügels kontrol-lieren, daß sich dieser in gutem Zustand befindetund daß die Aufhängung einwandfrei ist.

T Es ist darauf zu achten, dass der Schlag-schrauber nur bestimmungsgemäß verwen-det wird. Bei unsachgemäßer Anwendungkann es zwischen dem Steckschlüssel undder anzuziehenden Schraube bzw. Mutter zumAuftreten von einzelnen Schlagfunken kom-men. Daher dürfen nur Kraftsteckschlüsselverwendet werden. Vor der Benutzung derSchlagschrauber ist darauf zu achten, dassdiese nicht verschlissen sind und eine ein-wandfreie formschlüssige Verbindung desKraftsteckschlüssels und der festzuziehen-den Schraube bzw. Mutter gegeben ist. Dar-über hinaus ist ebenfalls darauf zu achten,dass eine einwandfreie formschlüssige Ver-bindung von Antriebsvierkant des Schrau-bers und Aufnahmevierkant des Kraftsteck-schlüssels vorhanden ist. Des Weiteren mussder Schlagschrauber durch geeignetes Zube-hör z.B. Schläuche und Druckluftkupplungenin den betrieblichen Potenzialausgleich ein-gebunden (geerdet) sein.Zur Vermeidung unzulässiger Temperaturer-höhungen ist betreiberseitig sicherzustellen,dass der Arbeitsdruck von 6,3 bar nichtüberschritten wird. Der Schlagschrauber darfnur zu Montage - und Demontagetätigkeitenim Rahmen üblicher Schraubzyklen verwen-det werden. Ein Betrieb im Dauerlauf (z.B. alsAlternative zu einem Druckluftmotor) ist nichtzulässig.Bei Verwendung des Werkzeugs in explosi-onsgefährdeten Bereichen müssen nationaleSicherheitsbestimmungen ordnungsgemäßbeachtet werden. BedienungDrehmomentDas erhaltene Drehmoment ist von Luftdruck undAnziehzeit an der aktuellen Verbindung abhängig.Verlängerungen und verschlissene Schlüssel verrin-gern das erhaltene Drehmoment. Der Schlagschrau-ber muß innerhalb des festgelegten Drehmomentbe-reichs verwendet werden. Das Gerät unter keinenUmständen über das empfohlene Höchstdrehmomenthinaus verwenden. Das kann zu Fehlfunktionen undschnellerem Verschleiß führen.

PrüfmethodenFür Schlagschrauber wird eine statische Drehmoment-messung empfohlen.

Für Prüfung am hydraulischen Spannungsprüferund für die Prüfung von Verbindungen.

WartungServiceanleitungÜberholung und vorbeugende Wartung werden inregelmäßigen Abständen einmal jährlich oder nachmaximal 100.000 Arbeitszyklen empfohlen, je nachdem, was früher eintrifft. Häufigere Überholung isterforderlich, wenn das Gerät in besonders beanspru-chendem Einsatz ist. Wenn das Gerät nicht einwand-frei funktioniert, sollte es zwecks Wartung außerBetrieb genommen werden.

Das Sieb am Lufteinlaß und der Abluftfilter solltenhäufig gereinigt werden, da sie sich sonst zusetzen,wodurch die Leistungsfähigkeit des Gerätes herabge-setzt wird.

Bei den Überholungen müssen alle Teile sorgfältiggereinigt und defekte oder verschlissene Teile (z.B.O-Ringe, Lamellen) müssen ausgetauscht werden.

Es ist wichtig, das die Schraubverbindungen desGeräts sorgfältig angezogen sind, d.h. entsprechenden technische Daten in den Explosionszeichnungen.Vor dem Zusammensetzen alle Gewinde mit Ölschmieren.A Alle O-Ringe müssen vor der Montage ge-

schmiert werden.
