1 General overview:This power plant is located in a very dry area in the desert, almost 20 km from the sea

shore, at 1200m up to sea level, then naturally protected from corrosion.

This power plant was built at the end of 2009, using 10 gensets Sulzer 16ZAV40S of 11

MW each. On that time, all gensets were almost 30.000 hours of operation from new, and they

received a full major overhaul performed by Wärtsilä at the time of the power plant installation.

In 2016 and 2017, the owner launched a huge maintenance program destinated to

perform the 24.000 h overhaul in all units. Unfortunately, by the end of 2017, the country power

market changed dramatically, and the plant began to operate less and less hours until having been

decommissioned in 2018.

Nowadays, all equipment remains in place, all fuel and auxiliary fluids tanks were emptied

and cleaned, and the plant is disconnected from the grid.

At the time of the plant disconnection from the grid, all engines were 55.000 to 63.000

hours of operation from new.

All engines were in 24.000 h maintenance process when the owner decided to close the

plant. Then almost 90% of the required new or refurbished parts are on site, ready to be installed on

the engines.

3.4 Main cooling system

Each genset is equipped with a battery of 35 V shape radiators.

The radiators are Alfa Laval, model VDDS907CD74 BST with electric turbo fans, and

were installed new in 2009 when the plant was built.

3.5 Heat recovery system:1 boiler per engine, located vertical on the base of the stack. Equipped with one

chemical control module.

The air compressors were removed and aren’t anymore available. 1 HP tank for 5

engines.

3.8 Control systemEven if half of the control system was upgraded to modern technology in 2012, we

highly recoment not to recover the existing equipment nor the control room and replace

everything by an up to date simple, efficient and reliable DCS.
