Andrew Geeson Andrew has been a professional artist for 22 years, working for galleries and publishers. He has worked alongside Enid Blyton's daughter on the re-working of her Mother's classic Noddy series of books and a host of other famous literary characters. Andrew's ‘wet on wet’ watercolour style is calming and atmospheric, aiming to capture the feeling of the subject matter in a simple following form.

The Workshop The workshop will allow you to get to grips with this amazing, loose style where less is more in your painting. If you feel you want to loosen up in your painting style, this is the Workshop for you. Wet on wet is simply the process of applying pigment to wet paper. Ink, Wax and Watercolour with Irene Merrall FRIDAY 29th MARCH 2019 1.30pm-4.00pm £20

Irene Merrall I have loved drawing ever since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I studied art up to A level at school and then, much later, when I trained to be a teacher, art was part of my degree course. Since I retired from teaching I have had much more time to draw, paint and experiment. I enjoy painting all types of subjects in oil, acrylic, watercolour and ink. Much of my work when I was at school was in ink and now I really like combining that with the wax resist and watercolour washes - the end result is often a surprise!

The Workshop I will do some short exercises to teach you the technique and then be on hand to give any help you need for your creation! I will bring some photographic images to work from but welcome anyone bringing their own.

What to Bring

• Fine line fibre tip and/ or rollerball pens (black ink). If the ink runs when washed with watercolour it will create a different effect from the ink that doesn't run. We will work with what you have.

• Good quality watercolour paper (I prefer Bockingford) - enough for your picture and practice exercises.

• Soft pencil and putty rubber • Wax crayons - the kind that children use are fine. A variety of colours. • Watercolour paints (preferably artist quality) • Brushes, Palette, Paper towel

What’s provided • Water pots, Drawing boards, Table Easels, Hairdryers • Paper available to purchase at the studio • Tea/Coffee & biscuits

Street Scenes in Acrylic with Tom Shepherd SUNDAY 30th MARCH 2019 10.00am-4.00pm £45

Tom Shepherd Tom was born in Leamington Spa and has always had a real interest in painting and drawing. After a slight deviation from the world of creativity for a few years, in 2010 he started working freelance, creating custom artwork for guitars and other musical instruments. In 2011 he made a move towards fine art painting, studying as an apprentice in a working artist’s studio.

The Workshop People often shy away from figures in a painting, but with a few little pointers they can be very simple and great fun, and really bring a scene to life. In this workshop we will be looking at creating atmospheric street scenes with bustling life like figures. We will create a simple but accurate setting touching on perspective as well as focusing on how to paint figures of any size and shape, and how to place them in a scene. Then finally we add the light and details to make the street come to life!!

We will start with exercises looking at how to paint figures. There are various tricks and tips that can take all of the scariness out of it!! There will be a short demonstration on how to build a street scene, looking at what information to put in and what can we simplify and how to place the figures in a scene in a realistic way. I will have a large selection of photographs to choose from. However, bring your own if you have a particular scene that interests you, try and find something with nice strong light and shadows as this makes the painting process a lot easier. Back lighting is especially effective in street scenes.

What to bring

• A sketchbook will be handy but I will be providing a large A3 sheet for warm up exercises. • Paint on whatever you are happiest with. Canvas, board, paper etc. I would recommend a selection

of sizes even if you end up only using one or two. I would advise you to keep it medium to small sizes in the 10"x12"- 16"x20" range.

• Selection of brushes of various sizes. Flats and rounds. • Rags, kitchen roll, palette etc. • Paints: No specific colours. As a very basic guide one of each primary plus a few extras, take this

further with a warm and cool of each primary, I will have plenty of extras to use.

What’s provided

• All water pots, table easels, drawing boards • Tea/Coffee/Biscuits Don’t forget to bring lunch!
