We have had many lovely comments sent to the school by people within the community by how impressed they were with the children. We couldn’t have done it without your help in getting them there, so thank you again. Please also pass on our thanks to the many grandparents who attended the “Don’t Dance Alone” event. Criw Cymraeg

Nursery – Mrs. Dawn Jones

We have listened to the Christmas story and have

started practicing for our Christmas Nativity Show. All

parts have been given out and I will be sorting the

costumes this week. The show will be on Wednesday

12th December and tickets will be on sale shortly.

We are continuing to look at our 5 senses. Together

we made a class graph showing the colour of our

eyes. The children enjoyed the activity and we found

out that most children in our class have blue eyes.

We will be starting our Christmas activities next week

and we have lots of exciting tasks planned.

Class 1 – Mrs. Catherine Thomas

We have been busy reading our sounds, words and sentences in

Reception. We have been working with a partner during our Read,

Write, Inc sessions to generate words that rhyme with cat.

We have been finding out about coins and in Reception we have been

making coin rubbings and sorting coins. In Year 1 we have been using

the website 'Topmarks' to sort, order and add coins together. During

Children In Need day we created Pudsey Bear using coins.

We have been learning about our sense of smell and we have

undertaken a sniff experiment to guess the smell.

We have been learning about Diwalli and we made Diva Lamps with

repeating mosaic tiles. We also created our own Rangoli patterns using

chalk outside and we also created our own Mendhi designs for our

hands.

We all had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon last Friday during our

'Don't Dance Alone' event showing off our dance moves in the hall!

Class 3 – Mr. Darren Richards

The children in class 3 have been really

hard at work since coming back after half

term. Our practise for the Christmas

performance is in full swing and the

children have made a fantastic effort to

learn their lines already. Well done! Over

the last week or so we have had a big

focus on doing maths activities through

topic work which the children have really

enjoyed. Da iawn Class 3!

Class 2 – Mrs. Donna Davies

What a busy fortnight! Well done to everyone in Class 2 for

‘beating their score’ in the 200 McNally Spelling test.

We have been using HWB to write a ‘best copy’ of our

‘Harvest’ and ‘Poppy’ poems, so log-on and have a read!

In Maths, we have continued with our weekly table’s tests,

worked with 2D and 3D shapes to create mosaics &

models. Year 2’s have worked on half & quarter turns,

clockwise & anti-clockwise. They have created tally charts,

bar graphs & pie charts. Year 3’s have worked out the

‘perimeter’ of different shaped trenches, as well as

measuring litres and millilitres, weighing in grams to the

nearest 5g, 10g or 100g. We have all enjoyed drawing and

labelling War Soldiers and learning about trenches.

Thank you for your continued support.

Class 4 – Mrs. Gaynor Johnson

Well we come to the end of another busy session in school.

Thank you to all who attended St Margaret's church to

remember the WW1 soldiers and also the Next Steps

meetings. I hope you found the evening informative and

helpful. The children have been using a lot of numeracy

skills and IT skills in their topic work over the past week.

They have been multiplying decimals by 10 and 100, finding

the area and perimeter of rectangles, using co-ordinates

and six figure grid references to specify location and

reading and interpreting scale distances. In English they

have continued their stories and have annotated and

started using the success criteria for a dilemma. Keep

practicing tables please as the children need a thorough

knowledge to help confidence. Thank you! 😊
