Facebook Our group has used Facebook which is a free social network website which can let you upload photos or videos which many people can see.

Therefore, our group has made a Facebook page about our film opening which will attract and address our audience as Facebook can be used a distribution tool to reach our target audience. The Facebook page is managed by a member in our group where we will send in any teasers about the film to the audience. Finally, the Facebook page is helpful for distribution of our film as well as we have to use free sources of distribution which mostly involves social media.

A Facebook page that we have looked at that is successful and can learn from it was ‘A Field of England’. This film was special because it was a low budget film which didn’t get much distribution but used social media as a form of distribution. Following this, the film was released simultaneously in cinema, demand, streaming and other home media. The film was a success which was seen on its Facebook and therefore, we decided to take influence off this Facebook page.

Twitter is also a free microblogging social network which allows people to make short posts or broadcast other peoples posts. This is effective for our film opening because it means we can post short videos and posters about our film and give out information, this will also help with distribution on our film.

I have made a twitter account for many reasons such as distribution, research and more. I have made a blog post about there here which is about Alan Rusbridge, “why Twitter matters”.

Instagram is a social media platform that is compatible online and mainly on mobile. This is used when people want to upload pictures or videos with a small caption and can be shared through other social media networks.

This type of social media is very effective for our film. This is because our film is based around a photographer which fits the theme of this social media where we can only upload pictures or videos. Therefore, this may appeal to people who would be interested in photography as they could follow trends which relate to our film opening.

Another reason why we decided to make an Instagram page was due to the distribution and how successful it can. For example, by showing teasers about the film and behind the scene shots to get the audience interested. An example of a successful Instagram page is Star Wars. This was able to create a lot of public excitement to the audience who would follow them and want to see the film when its released.

A poster was made for our production as a form of P&A advertising. P&A is a very effective form of advertising as because it gives brief ideas about who is in the film along with the importance of them from how they are framed in the poster. Secondly, its also good because it can be cheap to produce a poster for a film which can then further be uploaded onto any social media website. Therefore, this can create excitement to the fans of the movie when they see the poster as they can see what the film might have to offer. Finally, in the poster it can also have a lot of information such as all the sponsors and distribution companys and along with release dates.

I have made a website for our film which is effective because it allows the audience to see more information about the film such as, release dates, all our social media, where it may be shown, cast and many more. Secondly, by having the website it allows people without social media sources to still be able to see what is going on and be updated. Finally, from our website people could order tickets and DVD’s if they would be released. Finally, the theme of our website goes well with all our other social media sites as they both have the black and white theme as well in the poster.

The design on our website was based off the website ‘The Martian’ This is because they had a very good marketing campaign and good distribution which made the film very successful. Therefore, with their simplistic website design with the big poster in the middle attracts the audience right into the picture and the main context of the film along with some information, they also have a very friendly user interface which makes it easy for people to find more information about the film.
