Description

Manual operation

The ATyS range of products integrates electrical and mechanicalinterlocking systems in order to guarantee safe transfer operation. All the products are fitted with manual operation.Electrical operation is achived by an electronicaly drivenmotorised module:• either remotely controlled: ATyS 3 products are driven by volt-

free dry contacts allowing switching operation between positionI, 0 or II, from an external control logic (control relays type PiloteATyS C30).

• or automaticaly controlled: ATyS 6 products include controlrelays, timers and test functions to manage a Normal /Backupswitching operation.

Most of ATyS 3 functionalities are included in ATyS 6 versions.Position information as well as source availability andvoltage/frequency information are displayed directly on the product. The control unit (motorised and electronic modules) can beremoved for preventive maintenance purposes withoutdisconnection of the power unit and whilst keeping the backupmanual control operational !

Electrical control (remote control)

Power supply

• Standard voltages: 230 VAC, 50/60 Hz.Other voltages on request: 12, 24, 48 and 110 VDC.

General

• The switching operation can be driven by an external drycontact. “Pulsed contact logic” (impulse) or “maintained contactlogic” (contactor), are both recognised on the control inputs.

• The type of logic must be selected during configuration(programming).

• Switching time: see electrical specifications.• It is possible to inhibit electrical switching commands using a dry

contact (not on ATyS 3s).• Priority: the first order received has priority as long as it is

present. A zero command is always priority, excepted in case ofcontrols inhibition.

Impulse logic

• The switching command is a pulsed dry contact lasting at least30 ms.

• When the order disappears, the product remains in position. The impulse can be of infinite duration without causing anydisturbance.

ATyS 6: Automatic Transfer Switches

The ATyS 6 is an automatic transfer equipment to be used inbackup power systems with interruption of the supply to the loadduring transfer. It integrates:- over/undervoltages, over/under frequencies, phase

sequence and phase failure control (depending on theversion),

- specified timers,• to start /stop a generator set,• to transfer the load from 1 source to the other.

These sources may be 2 transformers, or one transformer and agenerator set.

The product includes control modes such as “test on-load”, “testoff-load”, “switch position control” (transfer I, 0, II) and a “semi-automatic mode” requiring validation before re-transfering the loadto the main source.Due to its features and electrical characteristics, the ATyS 6range is IEC 60947-6-1 compliant.

General features

Operating principle

Control

• Overvoltage and overfrequency thresholds: from 102 % to120 % of the nominal value.

• Undervoltage and underfrequency thresholds: from 80 % to98 % of the nominal value.

• Overvoltage and overfrequency hysteresis: from 101 % to 119 %of the nominal value.

• Undervoltage and underfrequency hysteresis: from 81 % to99 % of the nominal value.

Metering

• 3U on network and on ATyS 6e and 6m.1U on network on ATyS 6s.

• Frequency on network and on ATyS 6e, 6m.• Timers on ATyS 6s, 6e, 6m.• 3I, In, P, Q, S, PF (3 phases) on ATyS 6m.Timers• MFT: Main (priority) source Failure Timer (0 to 60 s).• DTT: Delay to Transfer Timer (0 to 60 s). Controls the backup

source stability before transfer.• 0MF: Dead band stay in 0 position after Main (priority) source

Failure (0 to 20 s). It allows the load residual voltage to decreaseunder a non critical value before transfer to backup source(necessary in case of rotating loads).

• MRT: Main (priority) source Return Timer (0 to 30 mn). Controlsthe main’s availability before transferring back the load.

• 0MR: Dead band stay in 0 position after Main (priority) sourceReturn (0 to 20 s). It allows the load residual voltage to decreaseunder a non critical value before transfer to priority source(necessary in case of rotating loads).

• CDT: Cool Down Timer (0 to 10 mn) allows the generator setcooling down before stop operation (for generator application).

Outputs electrical characteristics

• “Generator start signal” output: NO, 5 A, AC1, 30 VDC and230 VAC, 4 mm2 wire (for generator application).

• “Fault relay” output: 5 A, AC1, 230 VAC.

21

2

21

Control modes

• Test on-load (load transfer): allows loss of main’s networksimulation. The complete automatic cycle is then followed. Can be activated from the keypad of the device or remotely froman external dry contact.

• Test off-load (without load transfer): allows a generator set startand stop operation. Can be activated from the keypad of the device.

• Control I, 0, II: allows the product to be driven into one of thepositions ; the automatic cycle is then no longer active. Can be activated from the keypad of the device’s front or usingand external dry contact (ATyS 6e and 6m versions).

• Semi automatic: when this mode is active, any transfer back tothe main network must be acknowledged on the keypad of theproduct. These modes must be selected during configuration (programming).

Other features

• A fault relay output (not on ATyS 6s): a dry contact closes in caseof product internal fault.

• Delay to Transfer Timer (DTT) can be set up to its maximumvalue to allow enough time for the synchronisation of severalgenerators. A specific input can be used to allow transfer.

• Upgrading of the device by means of optional modules: anRS485 communication module (JBUS/MODBUS), and/or“Network priority, status report” module (cf. accessories).

• Connection with the remote control interface ATyS D10 and D20 (noton ATyS 6s version).

Timers

• MFT: Main (priority) source Failure Timer (0 to 60 s).

• DTT: Delay to Transfer Timer (0 to 60 s). Controls the backup source stability before transfer.

• OMF: Dead band stay in 0 position after Main (priority) source Failure (0 to 20 s). It allows the loadresidual voltage to decrease under a non critical value before transfer to backup source(necessary in case of rotating loads).

• MRT: Main (priority) source Return Timer (0 to 30 mn). Controls the main’s availability beforetransferring back the load.

• OMR: Dead band stay in 0 position after Main (priority) source Return (0 to 20 s). It allows the loadresidual voltage to decrease under a non critical value before transfer to priority source(necessary in case of rotating loads).

• CDT: Cool Down Timer (0 to 10 min.) allows the generator set cooling down before stop operation(for generator application).
