Audience Profile.I feel that the average gender for my audience profile is split 50/50 between Male and Female. However, according to my survey more females like the music genre ‘Rock’ than males. I think that the average age of my audience would be 19. I chose this age as I believe that people between the ages of 16 to a possible 25 would like this type of Rock music. Also, the age of the people in my music video match 16 – 25. I did this so that my audience would feel that they could relate to my video and, therefore like it; find a clearer meaning in the lyrics that could represent their selves.

Below is an analysis of stereotypical fans of my genre of music:

Large amounts of make-up on eyes in a dark, slightly gothic style. No other make-up than, perhaps, foundation used.

Large, voluminous hair straightened at the ends and dyed in multiple shades of uncommon colours.

In-fashion headwear matching the common yet stylish outfit’s manner.

Doctor Martins footwear in the common colour of black to, again match, yet sparkles and shines to add to the trend of diversity.

Hair, again, dyed to multiple, unnatural shades to help show diversity.

Underneath combat-like jacket is a vintage styled cardigan. This again helps her to stand out and feel unique, just like how she feels with her taste in music.

She wears a band shirt to parade her style and preferences, allowing her to not only define herself amongst others, but to help people who have the same likes notice.

She wears leather shorts with black tights. A strange conception with a hat, jacket and boots, yet it fits with her style and contributes to the trend of black.

The reason most fans would dress like this is to have a sense of individuality, in the same manner that they feel they are with their music taste. To like You Me At Six and other music of their genre is straying from the preferences of the average person, according to the music charts such as the ‘Top 40’ and ‘BBC Radio 1: The Official Chart’. By matching their appearance to the styles of the music they like, people make it easier to find other people who have to same tastes. This social statement all helps towards sharing similar tastes, likes and opinions with other such people.
