4-H INCENTIVE PROGRAM…….In 2017 FSC again supported young adults who take

their projects to the fair. This year there were over 85 participants in the program who received over $4500. FSC contributes over $4000 for trophies which are purchased at the County Banquets and also makes donations to the county fair boards and fair shows. In addition, we have many employees who donate their personal time for a variety of duties at their local fair. Thanks to all those employees on behalf of FSC.

APPLICATOR TRAINING…. By Nick Schechinger. This year our annual applicators

recertification will be again held at the Lewis research farm. The date is Friday, September 22nd

, from 9 am

to noon, with registration beginning at 8:30. We will be discussing how our first season went with the

dicambia trait as well as the new Enlist trait that is coming out for 2018.

KEYS IN COMPANY VEHICLES…….Its FSC policy that keys should not be

left in company vehicles at any time the vehicle is unattended. This is a temptation to prospective thieves, as FSC found out earlier this month. Please do not leave keys in the ignition, under the sun visor, under the floor mat, or in the side panel of the door. Keys should be either in your pocket or in the office. Also, flotation equipment should also be locked when not in use.

BOARD TOURS…….were completed by the FSC Board on August 10 and 22. The Board makes

these annual trips as they have the ultimate responsibility to the membership for the care and maintenance of the assets of the company.

2017 SUMMER INTERNSHIP COMES TO AN END…. by Chris Behrens

The internship program has become the base for recruiting young people to FSC. The crop scouting interns monitored fields throughout the spring/summer growing season. After scouting the field, they produced a written report for their manager and grower. The operational interns assisted the FSC facility in agronomy operational tasks such as delivery, application, tendering, storage, and maintenance. Over the 10 to 12 week summer internship, we are able to evaluate the interns and they have the chance to evaluate us.

2017 interns: Brandon Ragaller – sophomore at ISU majoring in Agronomy (Denison location). Taylor Thul - junior at ISU majoring in Agronomy, (Denison location). John Fields - sophomore at ISU majoring in Agronomy. (Portsmouth Location). Sam Kenkel - junior at ISU majoring in Agronomy Business (Portsmouth Location). Cody Thoreson - junior at ISU majoring in Animal Science (Moorhead Location) Austin Thul - junior at ISU College majoring Agronomy Business (Defiance Location). We are registered to attend numerous college career fairs and are making personal calls on promising young people. If anyone has a student that may be interested in this program, please forward their information to me.
