• Pick of the Week: A 30 min video from the
study “The bible and the Virgin Mary”- The Assumption: This session is packed with all kinds of great material. We’re going to examine the dogma of the Assumption of Mary, as well as the many facets of the identity of the woman in the Apostle John’s vision in Revelation 12. We’ll also learn how John’s vision in Revelation is the dramatic fulfillment of the promise God made back in the Garden of Eden: the "first gos-pel."
• Study: 8 Session Study Who am I to Judge?- What is “right” and “wrong”? Is what’s right for you right for me? Is there a right and wrong for everyone, all the time? These are difficult questions to discuss in our culture. We live in a society that supports the opinion that each person should make up his or her own mo-rality—that there is no moral truth that applies to everyone. Many of us have been affected by the relativistic outlook that pervades the modern world. Maybe some of us wonder whether there really is an absolute right and wrong for every-one. Or maybe we accept that there is a moral standard for all, but we don’t know how to ex-plain our moral convictions in a convincing way. Maybe some of us are afraid of saying some-thing is immoral because we’re afraid of offend-ing others or of being labeled intolerant. How do we talk about morality in a relativistic world? In this small group study program featuring Ed-ward Sri, we'll explore the classical view of mo-rality and find that it’s not merely a set of guid-ing principles for theoretical situations—it is an entire way of life.
Next week you will receive a Summer Appeal en-velope in your mailbox. If you have not yet done so, it isn’t too late to support our seminarians and all the work of the Church by offering a gift to the
Diocesan Annual Appeal. We must remember… “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Readings & Reflections -- 9:15 AM - SHC
Each week we meet to share scripture and reflect on the Lord’s Word. Our materials are accompanied with questions and discussion.
This is a time for fellowship of ALL ages.
Next Sunday 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time In the Gospel readings over the past few weeks we have witnessed the unfolding of Jesus’ discourse on the Eucharist. Today we reach the climax of his teaching and get to meditate on his words about the Bread from heaven that he longs to feed us with. These are words of deep riches that unveil to us how desperately God desires intimacy with each one of us. –by FORMED.org

Notes from Aug. 6 Roseau Finance Council Mtg. 1. Year-end report shows a balance budget. A report to parishioners will be out soon. 2. Budget for next year shows a need to increase in-come (adult offerings or other) by $4,000 and make some smaller adjustments to balance the budget in-cluding a slight increase in religious ed tuition and food fees. 3. Shared costs with Badger and Falun have been worked out and show a slight bit more costs than budgeted for last fiscal year and the usual slight in-crease for next year. Basically the budget is very close to actual costs. 4. This year’s budget is sending the fair and fall sup-per income to the building project. 5. We are still looking into options for getting special
collection envelopes to those who make automatic contributions to the parish through their bank. 6. Church basement carpet was shampooed in June and we hope to get house carpets shampooed soon. 7. Next meeting set for Monday, Oct. 1, at 5:15 PM.
19th Sunday in Ordinary Time Jn 6:41-51 A balanced diet We take health very seriously these days. Pick up any magazine or newspaper and you’ll be bom-barded with ads touting whole foods, purified water, herbal sup-plements. In our desperate efforts to live longer, healthier lives the world has become obsessed with what goes into our bodies. A bal-ance between the four food groups isn’t good enough these days. You need to track vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, cholesterol and a myriad of other factors. It may be healthy but it’s also exhausting.
Sad that this health consciousness doesn’t apply to the health of our souls. When was the last time you heard anyone discussing a bal-anced diet for the Christian life? Where are the ads and web sites touting prayer, belief, church attendance as building strong hearts and spirits? We know what our carbohydrate intake is, but we’ve forgotten the healthiest food there is: The Bread of Life. Our eyes are too much on the calorie counter and not enough on Jesus. This week, let’s try a diet that does more than slim our waistline. Let’s invite Jesus to our table and balance our diet for eternity. ©Copyright 2005 C L Enterprises
“God doesn’t ask for the impossible, but wants everyone to offer their good intentions, their day’s work, and some prayers. That will help them a lot. The best Way of the
Cross is when people accept willing-ly the crosses that are sent to them.”
