ATTN: UA AGENTSThe UA Medicare Supplement ProCare Brainshark training has been updated for 2014. The training has been shortened and is a great training resource. Access the Brainshark training module on the UA General Agency Office website. Click ‘Training’ and ‘Learn More’ under Brainshark Training’.

Please contact Agency Service at 1-800-925-7355 or email [email protected] with questions.

ATTN: FIRST UA AGENTSAs previously communicated, First United American is pleased to offer new and existing First UA Medicare Supplement policyholders “Automatic Claims Filing”(ACF®) free of charge.

ACF can help First UA policyholders avoid the hassle and inconvenience of having to locate and file their Medicare Supplement Part B claims. Instead, Part B claims are automatically transmitted electronically by Medicare to First UA.

New insurance cards indicating an ACF effective date are being sent to existing First UA Medicare Supplement policyholders. Please contact the Home Office at 315-451-2544 with questions.

ATTN: OHIO AGENTSAs of June 30, 2014, an insurance producer’s initial appointment fee and appointment renewal fee for Ohio is reduced to $15. If you have questions, please contact the Ohio Department of Insurance at 614-644-2665 or visit the state’s website at www.insurance.ohio.gov.

KUDOS TO OUR DIRECTORS AND TRAINERS“Thank you, again, Bob (Kempner). I just wrote another e-App today over the phone on the lead you sent me. It is a monthly premium of $217 for Plan F in Washington, NC. That’s a seven-hour drive I didn’t have to make. The e-App has recently saved me more than 10 hours of driving time, and I sold all F Plans due to United American’s reputation. That’s a total premium of $7,080 for the Home Office. Thanks, again.”

~Agent Darrell Collins Greensboro, NC

“Jonathan (Vall), wow, thank you for the great news. I’m really enjoying the working relationship with UA and look forward to more opportunities to present the excellent products that UA has to offer.”

~Agent Ron Edwards (on learning he qualified for 1,000 free direct lead mailers)

“Rick (Andriola), thank you for the informative webinar this morning. Having these types of training tools will be instrumental to my success, I am sure. I am new to Medicare Supplements and annuities, so I will attend those trainings as well. Thank you for all the Agent support. It’s superlative!”

~Agent Bonnie Hale

“Hello, Gary (Owen), just a note to let you know I closed two Med-Supp cases for UA. Your effort is not wasted. Thanks so much.”

~Agent Walter Howard, CLU, ChFC

ARE YOU COVERED?The Errors and Omissions Insurance Plan administered by MGA Insurance Services is designed to help protect Agents against claims arising from the sale and servicing of insurance products. Basic coverage is under $40 a month. Is it worth it? Agent Mark Heller thinks so …”Thank you so much for bringing to our attention the MGA Insurance Services E & O coverage. I purchased this coverage … equal to the coverage I had before … and cut my premium by 50 percent. Thank you so much, Chuck Mankamyer, for making this E & O offer available to UA and First UA Agents.” Apply on the Agent websites at ‘Errors & Omissions Insurance Available from MGA http://mga-eo.com/uaic.’

AND THE WINNERS ARE …Congratulations to Curtis Fuchs and Jason Stevens, who are the June and July winners of the Garmin GPS.

INTEREST RATES SETThe Lifestyle Annuity rate for August 2014 is 3.00 percent. Rates are reviewed and adjusted accordingly. The Deposit Fund Rider new business interest rate for 2014 is 3.00 percent.

Do you think I’m referring to the Convention in NOLA? I am, because the New Orleans Convention was wonderful as you see on the following pages. The Convention was an affirmation of all that’s great about the Agents of United American and First United American. But I’m also referring to the future of UA and First UA, and what you can look forward to in the months and years ahead … continued growth, quality products, and outstanding Home Office support.

Tell a StoryYou’re heading into the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), and that is always an exciting and productive time. You know how important it is for prospects to purchase a quality Medicare Supplement from UA or First UA, but how do you help them realize it? Stories are one of the best ways to make your point with prospects and customers, because everyone loves a good story. The trick is to tie in the story to the value of Medicare Supplements. If you don’t have a real-life story to tell based on customer experiences, use the ‘What if ’ approach with your prospect. Set up a scenario involving a third party. Be creative and say something that demonstrates why a Medicare Supplement is so important. For example, you could tell your prospect about a hypothetical Senior who has a heart attack and ends up in the hospital for several days. Explain

Medicare will pay 80 percent of the approved charges, but that the Senior will be responsible for the additional 20 percent, plus any applicable deductibles, copayments, or coinsurance. Help the prospect understand a Medicare Supplement will pick up where Medicare leaves off to help pay the remaining 20 percent and the other additional charges I mentioned. It’s simple and straightforward, and it makes the point.

Two Important ReasonsWith the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period coming up in less than two months, it’s not too early to get your game face on and put your strategy in place. You’ll be working with Medicare Advantage members and those who may be considering a Medicare Advantage plan. I’ve mentioned this before, but it’s worth repeating. The two most important reasons your prospect should consider a Medicare Supplement is its guaranteed renewability (as long as premiums are paid on time) and its lack of network restrictions. Your customer’s coverage cannot be canceled or benefits reduced due to aging or declining health. The insurance company won’t terminate its contract with Medicare and Medicare won’t terminate its contract with the insurance company, because there are no contracts. There also are no networks or restrictions with Medicare Supplements. As

long as a doctor, hospital, or other medical facility accepts Medicare, those facilities also accept a Medicare Supplement.

Guaranteed renewability may not seem terribly important to young, healthy Seniors, unless they’ve seen their parents or grandparents struggle with health issues and the resulting expenses. But most Seniors realize as they get older their health may deteriorate. It's important to purchase a guaranteed renewable Medicare Supplement policy while they're still young, healthy Seniors. It means when they're 80 with more serious health concerns, they'll never need to worry about having their coverge canceled. They'll already have a quality Medicare Supplement in place.

Think Long TermEncourage your Senior prospects to think long term. When they choose medical insurance, it should be coverage they plan to live with for many years. Offer them a plan that has stability built right into it. Once your prospect purchases a Medicare Supplement from United American or First United American, it can be his for as long as he lives. It’s quality coverage with a quality Company at a quality price. It just makes sense.

Have a busy and productive AEP, because I want to see you in Boca Raton in 2015. Get those sunglasses ready … the beach is waiting!
