Craig Johnson events start this month!
More programs will occur in
September to celebrate this Windsor
Reads event. A “Cold Dish” recipe
class will be dished out on
September 1st at 6:30p.m.; register
online today! Vengeance is not the
only thing best served cold.
On September 6th at 6:00 p.m. the
Library will host a Longmire &
Chili Watch Party. We will air the
first two episodes of the compelling
series and serve delicious chili with
all the fixings.
Join us on September 11th for an
exclusive evening author reception
before a book talk! Purchase
tickets today to meet the author,
and enjoy delicious catered
appetizers and an adult beverage or
two while you schmooze.
The author reception is a fund-raiser
for the Windsor Reads program and
will ensure future visits from
popular authors. Tickets are $40
each or $75 for two.
Following the reception we will
have a free ticketed author talk (but
purchased ticket holders will get
front row seats!). Visit the Library
or Bookmoblie to get your tickets!
Barnes & Noble will be at the event
on the 11th so you can purchase a
book and get it signed. Or stop by
the Library to get a Barnes &
Noble bookfair voucher
(ID # 11877917), and your purchase
will benefit your Library!
Join us for entertaining events
relating to themes from Craig
Johnson’s books:
Have you read Dry Bones yet?
Better start now! See if archaeology
is stranger than fiction. Jason

What is Windsor Reads?
Windsor Reads is an annual event that brings an acclaimed regional author to Windsor to share their books and present
an author talk.
Windsor Reads was started in 2015 through a generous
donation by Vince Murphy in honor of his wife, past library
director, Kathy Murphy.
In partnership with Vince Murphy, The Clearview
Library District, the Windsor-Severance Library Foundation, and the Town of Windsor, we are proud to present Windsor
Reads 2016 featuring Craig Johnson.

Deb Beard and Pennie, her three year old Golden Retriever, joined the Library’s PAWS teams in May. Pennie loves to cuddle with the kids in the PAWS house in the children’s area and listen to them read. At home, she loves swimming and playing with her blue ball! Pennie is so sweet; she can cheer you up and be your best friend! Deb is a retired microbiologist and enjoys hanging out with Pennie and her mom Gracie. Pennie is from a litter of Gracie’s puppies. Deb and her husband moved to Loveland 20 years ago from Oklahoma and can’t imagine living anywhere else. They have two college-age daughters. The Library hopes they will be part of our PAWS teams at the Windsor-Severance Library for a long time to come!
This years Summer Reading Program
has come to an end.
Thanks for making it a success!
This summer we started our reading program on
May 31st and ended July 29. We finished in style
with a giant carnival and petting zoo to say thank
you for all the fun!
This year 2,110 people from babies to adults
committed to reading and being engaged with their
library this summer.
We read over 10,000 books, made crafts, and had a
blast at special programs for all ages.
Thank you to our fabulous teen and adult volunteers
who donated their time and talents, volunteering
over 500 hours in 2 months.
Keep an eye out for our end of Summer
Reading Program survey to let us know
what you thought!

We can’t stress it enough: play is the most
important part of learning for young
children. Sadly, kids today are less able to
play imaginatively than kids of previous
generations. Play is how children create and
problem-solve on their own.
Leave time for both adult-guided play time
and unstructured free play. Let kids use their
imaginations without correcting them. Let
kids squabble and work out
issues without stepping in to help.
Clearview Library District owns over 1,500 video
games. Can you guess how many times those video
games have checked out so far this year? Our
customers have checked out and renewed video
games over 10,400 times just in 2016!
We have video games for all ages, and parental
information on game ratings are available. Our video
game collection is comprised of a wide variety of
game titles; if you’ve seen it advertised somewhere
we probably own it. If you can’t find it on our
shelves, please ask staff to help. Or take a look in our
online catalog, and place a hold on the game you
would like.
Looking for something we don’t have? Place a
Request for Purchase, and we are glad to add your
suggestion to our collection.
Currently we own games that play on PS VITA, PS2,
PS3, PS4, XBOX 360, XBOX ONE, Kinect, WiiU,
Wii, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo 3DS.
Perhaps you’re in the library and feel like playing a
Nintendo DS or 3DS game: we’ve got you covered!
You can check out a game and a DS/3DS to play in
the library!
Stop by and get your game on! Also, check out Teen
Video Game Night every month at the Windsor-
Severance Library!
Game on!

Gotta Catch ‘em All! Last month Pokemon Go, an app where you catch Pokemon in the world around you,
launched in the US and other countries. It's been a huge success! People are encouraged to
go out and about to search for Pokemon, get items at Pokestops, and compete at Gyms with
friends. Different Pokemon can be found at different times of day and in different areas of
the world. The Pokemon that you catch here in Colorado will differ from those that you may
find in other states or other countries. Luckily for Windsor residents, there are plenty of
Pokestops and Gyms in Northern Colorado, with one being right here at the Library! At the
Library your Pokemon can go up against the Gym Leader and take the Gym over for your
team! Pokemon Go presents an excellent opportunity to get outside and try to catch 'em all!
