August 2017 Newsletter Dear Residents, Families, and Staff, Have you heard about the “2017 Nelson Street Reconstruction and Water Mainproject that the City of Midland has started? In case you havent heard or seen anything yet (it was scheduled to start July 31 st ) - here are the details as we know them: Nelson Street will be torn up from Ashman to Jefferson to replace the water main and the street will be totally repaved. They plan to maintain traffic along Nelson Street and keep at least one of our Nelson Street parking lot entrances open for continued access to parking in that area. It will not affect our Rodd Street parking lot. When they relocate the water main, we may be without running water for a few hours, but we will store extra water to use during the time the water main is shutdown. No doubt this will be an inconvenience for everyone but it cannot be avoided. We appreciate your patience during this period. We usually have our annual KDH Carnival during August, but we dont have a timeframe for the Nelson Street project completion as estimates have varied from one month to the middle of October. Unfortunately, because of the uncertainty of completion we must cancel our Carnival this year. Enjoy the rest of your summer! Sincerely, Mark Eubank Administrator

Dear Residents, Families, and Staff, Have you heard about the “2017 Nelson Street Reconstruction and Water Main” project that the City of Midland has started? In case you haven’t heard or seen anything yet (it was scheduled to start July 31st) - here are the details as we know them: Nelson Street will be torn up from Ashman to Jefferson to replace the water main and the street will be totally repaved. They plan to maintain traffic along Nelson Street and keep at least one of our Nelson Street parking lot entrances open for continued access to parking in that area. It will not affect our Rodd Street parking lot. When they relocate the water main, we may be without running water for a “few hours,” but we will store extra water to use during the time the water main is shutdown. No doubt this will be an inconvenience for everyone but it cannot be avoided. We appreciate your patience during this period. We usually have our annual KDH Carnival during August, but we don’t have a timeframe for the Nelson Street project completion as estimates have varied from one month to the middle of October. RESIDENTS

Welcome!

Wow, can you believe it is August already? We hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather and have been able to enjoy the garden areas. Remember to continue to protect yourself from the sun and drink plenty water during the warm weather. With Fall quickly approaching we are beginning to think about the 2017/2018 flu season and the prevention of flu related illnesses. Within the next month KDH nursing staff will begin rounding up consent forms for those of you that wish to receive the flu vaccine. Our pharmacy nurse consultant from Hometown LTC will be administering the vaccine to our residents, which allows the pharmacy to bill Medicare directly for the vaccinations. Please let nursing staff know if you have received or plan to receive the vaccination from your primary care physician or clinic so that we have the information documented in your records. Please do not hesitate to stop in to our offices with any questions or concerns that you may have. Our doors are always open and we are here to assist our residents and family members.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

A Resident is entitled to information concerning an experimental procedure proposed as a part of his or her care and shall have the right to refuse to participate in the experiment without jeopardizing his or her continuing care.
