Next June join the SSV group on a 14 Night Alaska adventure, “Off the Beaten Path”.

We arrive in Anchorage and get settled in our hotel for an overnight stay. Many of us will arrive a day early to allow more time to enjoy the shops, restaurants and cultural attractions of this surprisingly metropolitan city. From Anchorage, we board our Motorcoach for a scenic drive to the Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge, where we will spend two nights. The enjoy the incredible views of Mt. Drum, Mt. Wrangell and Mt. Blackburn. Here you will have full day of leisure. There are many optional excursions in America's largest National Park - Wrangell-St. Elias. Tuesday, Fairbanks, Alaska's "Golden Heart" city, for two nights. You'll take a cruise on an authentic Sternwheeler Riverboat down the Chena River, tour Gold Dredge 8 and pan for gold. Thursday, enjoy the spectacular trip to Denali National Park and stay at the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge. "All aboard" our exclusive rail service to Talkeetna, followed by Motorcoach to Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge. Saturday we travel to Whittier with a stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Next stop, the beautiful “Golden Princess” for our “Voyage of the Glaciers” Cruise.

The Travel Desk, behind the library is closed for the summer. However, we work from home when we are not traveling, so give us a call at 480-986-2331 and we can set up an appointment to plan your trip.

Hello Everyone!July kept us extremely busy. We had a delicious BBQ

with hot dogs. The amazing Softball Club really “knocked it out of the park” by volunteering as our kitchen crew for the Independence BBQ. We had made to order Omelette’s for Breakfast, watched the movie Hacksaw Ridge and went to a Diamondback’s game. WOW! Now I’m excited for our upcoming adventures in August!

August brings us an evening of dance with the Southwest Surfers August 2nd, Randy Riggle who will make us laugh until our sides hurt August 9th, and we will be watching Age of Adeline in the Auditorium August 16th.

Thank You to those who are “Surviving” the sum-mer with us! We will be having our Summer Survivor Luau on August 24th in the Auditorium. Enjoy some delicious Kalua Pork, Teriyaki Chicken, Island Rice, Hawaiian Cole Slaw, Tropical Fruit Salad and Rolls. We will be entertained with live Polynesian music, hula dancers and a fire dancer that will “light” the Auditorium up. Come get your tickets before they are sold out and don’t forget to wear your favorite grass skirt and Hawai-ian shirts. This will be a memorable evening.

September we will be having a “Black Tie Affair” September 19th in the San Tan Center. This will be a truly elegant evening and tickets are limited to only 76 people. We will be dancing to a string quartet and enjoying delectable Hors d’oeuvres. Please get your tickets ASAP and join us.

When planning your adventures, keep in mind that we will be selling a limited number of Hale Theatre tickets at the group rate for the following shows:

Oct 25 – Meet Me in St. LouisNov 25 – A Christmas CarolDec 14 – A Christmas CarolMar 27 – Life Could be a DreamIf you would like to come to an event but are un-

able to come in and pick up the tickets while the office is open please reach out to me.

Thank you to for supporting our events. A special thanks and to those who volunteer. Without your help these events would not run as smoothly and be suc-cessful.

I look forward to seeing you all soon,

Gates, Bird feeders, and Air ConditionersA recent community tour shows that the residents in Sun-

land Springs Village are keeping their residences bellissima! Gates: If you chose to install a gate with wood slats rather

than composite slats, it may be time for a fresh coat of paint and/or stain. Color options for gates are as follows: 1) Black frame with natural finished wooden slats or slats made of a composite material with a natural wood appearance, or 2) The frame and the slats painted to match the color of the house.

Bird Feeders: A quick reminder that bird feeders are only allowed in the back yard.

Air Conditioners: Air conditioners must be mounted on the ground either in back of the house, or on the side of the house. If the air conditioner is placed on the side of the house, it must be screened from view, from the street at the front of the lot, by building a wall. If the total yard is enclosed, includ-ing the air conditioner and cannot be seen from the street, this is sufficient. If the yard is not enclosed, a screen wall will be required. This wall will be of block, painted to match the house, not less than 3 feet wide by 4 feet high or sufficiently large to cover but not to exceed the height of the air conditioner by more than one course. An alternative to this wall can be plants or bushes that successfully screen the air conditioner from view from the street at the front of the lot. The minimum size will be a 5 gallon plant. Screening plants must be maintained.

Thank you to all the residents who follow the community’s documents by receiving architectural approval prior to making exterior changes.

Have a great day!

Around the Village

By: Robin Scott, HOA Manager

[email protected] Hello and happy August to everyone! We hope

you’re having a great summer finding relaxation when needed, and fun when you feel like it! Make sure to check out all of our wonderful activities our Lifestyle Coordinator and staff have planned for you in the next few months and beyond! We’re using our creativity in planning special events and having a great time doing so. We’re always working on preventative maintenance and upkeep of your beautiful community, and this time of year brings us our summer projects. We work on completing these during our slower season as not to interrupt activities during our busy season. Here’s just a few things on our “To Do” list: Springwood auditorium lobby and bathroom upgrades, Springwood annual cleaning, Springwood fitness upgrades (carpet,

paint), Springwood pool bathroom upgrades (tile, paint, fixtures), San Tan pool (deck, fence, painting), San Tan Fitness (paint), annual floor resurfacing, shuffleboard refinishing, billiards tables recovered, 2018 budget preparation….the list goes on and also includes our office related projects we’re working on. REMEMBER: It’s hot outside and many wish to swim. Please familiarize yourself with the pool rules and follow them. In addition, the CC & R’s and Architectural Control Policy exists for your information and help ensuring you’re following community guidelines. If you need a copy of any of these documents, please see us in the HOA office. If you have a maintenance emergency, please call the FirstService Residential Customer Care Center at 480-551-4300. Enjoy your month and let us know if we may ever be of assistance to you!

SportsMen’s Golf League News

Thirty members of the Men’s Golf League enjoyed our Sum-mer Social on June 28. A four man scramble followed by a great meal at the Patio Grille made for a fun day in spite of some record

heat. On July 3rd the league hosted our first Holiday Par 3 game. Temporary tee boxes were placed on all par 4 and par 5 holes from 80 to 150 yards out, American flags marked each of the 18 tee boxes, and prizes were given out for “longest putt” on several holes. 27 members recorded some of their best scores of the year!

Our summer schedule continues with golf every Monday and Wednesday starting at 7:00. League application forms are available in the Pro Shop for those interested in joining us. If you have questions about the League, please call League President, Kent (Doc) Bulkley at 480-363-1906.
