Maine Farm Days gives the public and farmers the opportunity to visit a working farm, see the operation of new equipment and technology, and provide an at-mosphere for everyone to walk through, observe, and educate themselves about the different areas of agricul-ture. Misty Meadows Farm of Clinton, Maine is owned and operated by John and Belinda Stoughton and Thomas and Kimberly Wright. The farms current milking herd is 600 and 475 young stock. The total herd has risen from 200 total in 1996. The farm is currently averaging 79lbs of milk per cow for a total average of 40,000lbs. shipped per day. Milk quality is a key success area with 120,000 somatic cell count on milk and a current 24,000 lb herd average. All their milk is shipped to Oakhurst Dairy in Portland, Maine. Their farm is comprised of 1050 acres of cropland with 500 in corn production and 550 of grass silage, of this total 300 acres are rented.
