Breathe in me O Holy Spirit,
that my thoughts may all be holy.
Act in me O Holy Spirit,
that my work, too, may be holy.
Draw my heart O Holy Spirit,
that I love but what is holy.
Strengthen me O Holy Spirit,
to defend all that is holy.
Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit,
that I always may be holy. Amen

When we experience the merciful love of the Father,
we are more able to share this joy with our neighbor.

Are You New to the Parish?
Welcome! Thank you for coming and joining our
parish in celebrating Mass. Whether you are visiting,
or in the area for studies, or new to the community,
please know that we are delighted to have you among
us. We would like to meet you. Please say hello to
any of our ministers or staff before or after Mass. Or
call or email any of us. We are here to serve you!
From the Pastor’s Desk
If you have driven by the parish property this past week you surely would have
noticed all the contractor vehicles. These are not just for the work being done at the
Observatory, but for all the work being done in the Church, School and Convent.
Work is being completed in the Tabernacle Chapel in the Church; in classrooms
and cafeteria in the school; and clean-up being done in the Convent building as we prepare to welcome new
tenants (new company – but still living accommodations for foreign students). Even with the frenzied
activity, there is an excitement of another parish/school season getting underway.
Please note that the Sunday, 5:00 p.m. Liturgy will resume on Sunday, September 13th. As we
announced last Spring, we are happy that both Fr. Jim Keenan, SJ and Fr. Francis Alvarez, SJ are returning as
presiders this year.
Enjoy these waning days of Summer!
Men’s Spirituality Group
Thursdays, September 10, 17, 24, and October 1
7 - 8:30 p.m. Parish Center
A young man who doesn’t cry is a savage, an old man
who doesn’t laugh is a fool.
This male spirituality group is for any man, 18 or
over, who wishes the abundance of life that Christ
wants for us (John 10:10). The group is not for the
faint of heart. It’s a simple truth that we must face our
darkness to enjoy new life. This will be a personal
journey you will make with the support and company
of other men. As a guide, the men will read Jesuit Fr.
James Keenan’s Moral Wisdom in between our
weekly meetings. Please understand, however, that
this is not a book group. Each man must bravely do
the hard work of self-reflection and come willing to
fully participate in the meetings. During the
meetings, we will reflect on where we have been and
where we are in our spiritual journey. The group will
meet four times on Thursday nights from 7-8:30 p.m.
in the Parish Center. In order to create an atmosphere
of trust, participants must commit to the four
meetings unless a known conflict is identified ahead
of our first meeting. Please purchase the book before
our meetings. You can purchase it online or in book
stores (Amazon and Barnes and Noble, for example)
in both paperback and Kindle editions. It is also
available at some local libraries. Our meeting dates
are September 10, 17, 24, and October 1. To enroll or
for more information, please email Bede Bidlack at

Religious Education Grades K - 10

The primary place where children learn about and
experience their faith is in their homes. Their primary
educators are their parents and adult caretakers. Our
education program is designed as a shared
undertaking between children, parents, and the parish.
We offer educational programs for grades K - 10 and
to prepare children to receive the Sacraments of
Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation. Children
traditionally receive Eucharist and Reconciliation in
Grade 2 and Confirmation in Grade 10. We also
prepare children beyond these ages. Grades K - 5
meet Sunday mornings from 10:15 - 11:15 a.m.,
beginning September 27th. Middle and high school
students meet monthly on Sunday evenings from 6 -
7:15 p.m. To learn more about these programs and
for registration materials and calendars, join us at
