proceeds, tuition will increase. We cannot continue
with this fund-raiser without volunteers. Please
consider volunteering once a month. You can
volunteer as an individual or as a team. We need
teams of two to work concessions, count money and tickets and
also sell instants. We also need folks to sell the papers from 5 to
7:15 and callers to rotate twice a month. Want to get out-of-the-
house and exercise? Consider clean-up from 9:30 to 10. Thank
you for your consideration. If interested, please contact Maria at
the parish office at 921-9200 ext.101.

August 2017
Dear Parents,
We hope that the year proves to be an exciting time for you and your child. This letter is to
inform you of one way that you can get involved in your child’s school. The students in grades
kindergarten through grade three have a recess break together in the afternoon. Each day a teacher is
on duty for that recess break. We ask for parent volunteers to help us with this (we also need cafeteria
volunteers and if you can do both cafeteria and recess on the same day, that would be great!). This is
mostly to be prepared in case of an emergency or if a child needs to be escorted back into the building
by an adult. You can sign up for any day that your schedule allows. We realize that this is difficult for
parents working outside of the home, but be assured that there will be many more opportunities for you
to help out at St. Teresa.
The kindergarten and first grade students do also have a morning recess, but we will only need
parent volunteers for the afternoon recess (since there are more children with other classes joining us).
Afternoon recess is immediately after lunch, from about 12:10 until about 12:35 pm. We try to adhere
to this schedule as much as possible, but there are times when it is a little different. Therefore, if you
are on a very tight schedule from work, this might not be the best volunteer opportunity for you. We
mention this only to avoid frustrating our very generous helpers.
You may sign up for a day or several that work best for you if you are interested. When all
volunteers have had a chance to sign up, a master schedule will be created and sent home with your
child. In the past, the response has been so overwhelming, that a parent would only be scheduled for
once or twice a month. That is our hope. We schedule now for September to December and then have
another sign-up for January through the rest of the school year. We do this because many parents have
said that their schedules change. We will not need help if it is raining or if the temperature is below 32
degrees. If this happens, we have indoor recess which is supervised by the teachers. We can’t begin to
tell you how much we appreciate the time you give to help us. Thank you in advance!
