HEY DINOSAURS!
I hope that y’all are having unforgettable summers
filled with SERVICE and FUN! I hope that you guys will
take advantage of the summer and extra free time to
SERVE and to continue to make a positive impact on your
communities. Service is not something that ends after the
school year and starts back up again in September–
service is something you can ALWAYS do, no matter where
you are. I hope to see you all at the Joint DCM with
Divisions 62, 65, and 66, and serve with you throughout the
rest of the summer!
I would also like to personally thank all of the Key
Clubbers who came to my July DCM. I hope you had a ton
of fun and learned a lot about Key Club International!
The Joint DCM is coming up on August 25th, from
10-1. It will be at Pioneer Square! Please don’t hesitate to
ask me if you need a ride. As always, Key Club is
INCLUSIVE and don’t hesitate to bring your friends, Key
Clubbers and non-Key Clubbers alike, family, etc. to these
Key Club events! The theme is SELFIE OLYMPICS and it’s going to be an event that you don’t want to miss!
More information will be out shortly through Facebook and
email.
Since the school year is coming up fast, I strongly
encourage you guys to think about recruiting new members
into Key Club! Think about why you love Key Club, and
share your experience with others. I have provided a
couple promotion resources in the first few pages of the
newsletter. Target the underclassmen and build your clubs!
That’s it for now! SEE YOU GUYS AT THE JOINT
AUGUST DCM! IT WILL BE FUN!
HAVE A FANTASTIC, SERVICE-FILLED REST
OF THE SUMMER!
In love and service,
Dorothy Wang

Hey Key Clubbers!
I'm Kayla and I will be a junior
next year rat West Linn High
School. I first heard about Key
Club when a Lake Oswego girl
was bragging about how LO
had a Key Club and how at the
time, West Linn didn't. Then a
year later, we got one! The club
officially started my sophomore
year and I joined right away. We
definitely had some interesting
volunteer experiences going to
volunteer jobs full of crazy cats
and really bad parking jobs, but
nonetheless we survived. I am
thrilled to be serving as Vice
President for these next two
years, as well as executive
officer of the division. I hope to
increase our number of
members and to increase the
efficacy and enthusiasm of
current Key Club members. I
hope to meet you soon if we
haven't met yet!
MEET KAYLA GADD Divisional Executive Assistant
Hey, Pacific-Northwest!
My name is Tashrima Hossain, and I’d like to introduce myself as the new International Trustee
for your district. It is such an honor to be in your service, primarily by ensuring that your voices
are heard at the international level during the upcoming year. I’m excited to join the PNW moose;
I’ve already received so much enthusiasm from the Board, I’ve heard many great things about
PNW, and I can’t wait to see all the great achievements your district has in store.
To let you know a little about myself, I am from Cypress, Texas, which is a suburban area
adjacent to the Houston border. In addition to Key Club, I devote much of my time to debate and
Student Council— which often leaves with very little time for sleep! As a result, I’m a bit of a
grandma, and I like spending much of my free time sleeping, reading, or just hanging out with
friends.
For those of you who would like to know more about my duties as International Trustee, I have a
few basic responsibilities: attending International Board meetings, participating in a maximum of
two district visits, and acting as a representative of the international level of Key Club. In addition,
Governor Lisa and I completed a Governor-Trustee agreement, which identified the main
expectations Lisa has of me, as your district’s Trustee; many of said goals revolve around
constant communication and building positive Sister District relations—all of which are means to
ensure that I effectively represent your views on the international level.
Additionally, I serve with Jenalee Beazley, Rip Livingston, Liz Moore, and Nicole Lema on the
Growth and Communications Committee. There, we predominantly focus on fostering a
connection between advisors and Kiwanis clubs, making Key Club a school-wide name, creating
a “cool factor” for Key Club, empowering local clubs to publicize their work, creating a strategic
growth plan for KCI, and creating an annual club census. We already have a very specific set of
goals and action steps for the first quarter; I plan to update you all with any progress in that
arena.
During my term, I will stay committed to the goals I campaigned with, but more than that, I intend
to actively serve as a resource for you all. If you have questions about amendments, elections,
service, or general Key Club knowledge, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’m here as a
resource, friend, and assistant in any way you may need. Call me, email me, Facebook me— I’m
always ready to lend a hand.

PRESIDENT/VICE PRESIDENT REPORTS

“In the midst of serene nature and
fluctuating weather conditions lies the
great Pacific Northwest District (PNW).
The Pacific Northwest is geographically
the largest district of Key Club
International. The district spans from
Western Canada to Northern California:
with Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and
the pan-handle of Idaho in between.”
“The Pacific Northwest encompasses
nearly 1.8 million square miles and includes over 330 clubs that
operate under 44 divisions. Through rain or shine, snow or hail, Key
Clubbers in the Pacific Northwest dedicate countless hours to their
communities and internationally, and are always Proud 'N‘ Willing to
serve!”
“The mascot of the Pacific Northwest District is the “Mighty Moose,” also commonly called “Mortimer the Moose.” Known for
our spirit yet incredible dedication to the service that we do, the
PNW District continues to be a leader in the Key Club world, and it is
all thanks to our members and excellent leadership throughout the
district. It would not be far from the truth to say that yes, we’re one of
the best, with over 13,000 members proudly shouting out in accord
when they hear: “Hey PNW! How do you feel?””
Division 64 includes Tigard High School, Wilsonville High School,
Tualatin High School, Lakeridge High School, Sherwood High School,
West Linn High School, and Lake Oswego High School. We are one of
the smallest and newest divisions in the District, but we are working
towards becoming a bigger and stronger division over the next year!
Our divisional mascot has been recently changed to the
“DINOSAURS,” while our divisional colors are blue and silver. We are
happy to serve and blessed to be able to experience how rewarding
being an active member of Key Club can be. Yay Key Club!!
64! That’s us!

The primary goal of the ELIMINATE project is to “eliminate
maternal and neonatal tetanus. This deadly disease steals the lives of nearly
60,000 innocent babies and a significant number of women each year. The
effects of the disease are excruciating — tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful
convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch.” It takes $1.80 to get
three rounds of vaccinations for mother and child. In order to essentially
eradicate the prevalence of neonatal and maternal tetanus globally, we must
still raise $110 million for our cause.
As of July 7th, Key Club International has raised a total of
$2,432,905.64 for the ELIMINATE project, which means that Key Club has
impacted the lives of 2,703,228 mothers and children. I hope to see all Key
Clubbers do their part by spreading awareness and fundraising for this amazing
project. TOGETHER we CAN eliminate maternal neonatal tetanus from the world.
An easy way to raise money for the ELIMINATE project is through Miracle
Minutes! During Miracle Minutes, everyone donates as much spare change as
they can during the span of a minute. Even a couple pennies can go a long
way! For more fundraising ideas, please contact your LTG. We will also discuss
ELIMINATE in more detail at the next DCM. Visit the ELIMINATE website for more
information regarding what ELIMINATE does and Key Club’s role with that project.
*One important thing to note is that by ELIMINATION of MNT, we mean that there
will be fewer than 1 case of MNT for every 1,000 live births.

countries, but within America too.
To learn that over 900,000 fellow Americans and countless others worldwide are lured or recruited into human trafficking is appalling. People that we know, our next door neighbor, our friend from
