Dear Friends,

This Sunday, August 6, we will celebrate our children and

youth as we observe Promotion Sunday. We will pray for

them, recognize those moving into a new Sunday School

class, and reestablish the tradition of giving Bibles to our

3rd/4th graders. It will be a special moment that you will want

to be a part of.

Also, this Sunday, we are beginning a new sermon series on

what we believe to be four touchstones of our life together as

Christians. We find our identity in Christ in a book, through a

bath, at a table, and with time.

Aug. 6: A Book: The role of the Bible, Rev. Dr. Ricky James

Aug. 13: A Bath: The significance of Baptism, Rev. Dr.

Ricky James

Aug 20: A Table: The centrality of Communion, Rev. Dr.

Terry Hilliard

Aug. 27: A Time: The keeping of Sacred Time, Rev. Dr.

Come learn what we mean in the month of August.

Ricky

EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAMS I attended an ERT training last Saturday. Since Hurricane Katrina, I have known just how important emergency response teams are. St. Luke’s has an emergency response team, and we pray you will consider joining us. You don’t have to be a car-penter, have tons of strength, or commit to going when we are called every time. All you need is a willing heart to go where God calls you and the desire to be hope in the midst of some of

the most difficult moments in someone’s life. As God whispers in

your heart to go, give Willie Morris or me a call and we will get

you signed up for training. Peace, Terry
