Our History

The Australian College of Sports Therapy (ACST) began over 15 years ago, founded by Dr. Charles Meisner. This vision came to fruition due to the obvious gap in the treatment of recreational and amateur athletes.

As part of our courses, you’ll do clincal placement in our clinic located on campus. In addition to this, we promote professional engagement with community and elite sporting clubs, such as the North Melbourne Football Club, Melbourne Storm, and Melbourne Victory through our industry internship programs. This ensures students graduate with actual hands-on experience having an immediate influence in industry.

We are the only College in Australia to deliver the Advanced Diploma of Sports Therapy, leading the way in this exciting and inspiring career choice. We have set ourselves ambitious targets so that we rank among the best VET providers, especially in our areas of strength: Sports Therapy, Myotherapy, Remedial Massage.

“The Australian College of Sports Therapy teaching staff were particularlysupportive and encouraging when it came to gaining knowledge of the profession; always willing to answer my questions. I gained a great deal of knowledge and experience through treating patients in the College Student Clinic and really enjoyed the hands-on aspect.

In my experience, the course combined a good mix of theoretical and practicalexperience; from workbooks to exams to practical classes and working in the student clinic.”Maya Clarke , Diploma of Remedial Massage: Graduate 2010

TestimonialsWhat others have said about the experience at ACST

“I found the theoretical aspect and clinical experience undertaken during my three years at ACST provided me with the skills, knowledge and confidence to obtain a position at a leading Melbourne clinic. From my experience, I can tell you that if you’re motivated, ACST will provide you with the tools necessary for success in your chosen field.”Charles Jones, Advanced Diploma of Sports Therapy: Graduate 2011

“As a mature age student I ask myself ‘Where was this course 20 years ago?’ The whole spectrum of subjects covered in Sports Therapy really feels like a well rounded education bridging the gap between Sports and Healthcare professionals, which I totally enjoy. Add the support and assistance from not only the lecturers, but admin staff, makes ACST the ideal place for me.”Wesley Matthews, Advanced Diploma of Sports Therapy: Graduate 2009

“Having employed a number of individuals who have completed the Advanced Diploma of Sports Therapy I am aware of the knowledge and skills these individuals can bring to the sporting environment. I have found these skills especially helpful for sporting clubs looking for “all round” skills in first aid, sports injury prevention, massage, and in performing the tasks of “Sports Trainer”.

The concept of having a professional with hands-on skills exceeding those of the ‘sports trainer’ is very valuable for sporting clubs as these individuals can also provide a role in supporting other sports medicine professionals, such as Physiotherapists and Doctors.”Mr Steve Oosterhof - Safer Sport Education Manager, Sports Medicine Australia (Victorian Branch)

“My decision to redirect my career path later in life has been daunting and financially stressful. Fortunately the staff and lecturers at ACST have supported my learning at every stage, both tutorially and personally. They have helped me build on my bodywork knowledge and techniques, so vital for a successful new career change, into more satisfying and caring work practice.

My decision to participate in a course in Remedial Massage at ACST has enabled me to go on to do Myotherapy. “Sandy Filer, Current Student 2015-6
