• Based on the Ilias plugin (PHP)
• Uses 2 key tools that allow custom integration of SWITCHcast into another service:– API functions (view & produce)– External authority (access control completely
delegated to Moodle, SWITCHcast serves a particular video only when told to do so …)

Most important actions can be performed directly from within the LMS( simplification for teacher & student):– Create and administer channels– Add and remove Clips– View (incl. filter function for searching)
and annotate clips– Define roles in the LMS (teacher, student,
…)

Who can see what ?
Several different “access” settings have been implemented:– All students in the Moodle course that contains
the activity can see all clips in the linked channel
– Every student can only see his/her video(mapping of the Unique-id to the clip metadata-field « owner »)
– Students can invite a colleague to their video– All students in a Moodle learning group can see
each other’s videos

Flexibility of the system
• Automation: using SWITCHcast recorder (dedicated computer, specific setup, iVT-mode)
• Import (almost ) any video into SWITCHcast: set individual and/or course-wide access rights manually in the LMS
