INTRODUCTION
Here is the working of rain sensing wiper with circuit schematic. The main component of the circuit is a 555 timer IC that works in monostable mode. Two metal sheets fixed at a small distance apart used as a rain sensor.
COMPONENTS REQUIRED
•IC 555
•Transistor BC 548
•Resistor (1K,10K,1M,)
•Capacitor(0.1uF)
•Relay (12V,10A)
•Rain sensor
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM
HOW RAIN SENSING WIPERS WORK?
• Working of this circuit is same as the working principle of monostable multivibrator.
• A small water drop on the rain sensor will connect the negative voltage to the trigger
pin of 555
• IC which in turn will turn the output pin of 555 high
• 555 Output is connected to the base of transistor through a 1K resistor which forward
biases the transistor.
• Now the relay gets negative and it switches ON the wiper motor.
WHERE WE USE ?
• The term "rain-sensing wipers" is commonly used for a system designed to
clear the windshield of rain, snow, and debris without driver intervention. The
system is programmed to automatically activate and alter the speed and rate of
the wiper blades to keep outward visibility unobstructed at all times. A rain-
sensing wiper system does not clean the windshield any better than a manual
system; it simply monitors outward visibility and automatically activates the
wipers.
• It increases drivers safety.
