Service Representative Automotive Technology Career Pathway FLORIN HIGH SCHOOL OUR BUSINESS PARTNERS FUTURE CAREER OPTIONS The Florin High School Auto Technology Career Pathway provides students with the essential skills required to secure an entry-level position with the automotive field and/ or foundational knowledge necessary to transition into a post-secondary program in automotive technology. Students gain hands-on experience by working with professional automotive equipment and diagnostic tools, learning about industry standard safety rules, service information, career strategies and the importance of job performance. Topics discussed include engine operation, electrical systems, fuel injection, computer systems, brake and basic engine repair. The auto technology pathway is articulated with Cosumnes River College Automotive Program, which allows students to earn post- secondary credit while enrolled in the pathway. These jobs provide above-average income and good working conditions. Automotive Technology Career PathwayIndustry Sector: Transportation | Pathway: Automotive Technology

* The sample program of study outlined below lists academy-specific courses and does not include the full list of graduation requirements in writing, math, VAPA, WL, etc. These courses are subject to change based upon industry trends.

• Automotive Technology I: This course provides basic shop safety, tool recognition, introduction to automotive repair, technology core, exploring automotive technology and automotive technology design. Basic systems and systems functions are covered as an introduction to Auto II and Auto III.

• Automotive Technology II: This course extends study with more in-depth areas of the automotive systems. These areas include: brakes, electrical system, steering and suspension, introduction to fabrication and body and collision repair and automotive fundamentals. Students will be given hands on projects to diagnose and repair.

• Automotive Technology III: This course provides advanced automotive and diagnostics, fuel injection engine performance, smog and emissions equipment diagnostics and repair, diesel engines, motorcycles, advance fabrication and prototyping, collision, paint and repair.
