THE SYSTEM

AUTONOMOUS MAN-OVERBOARD DETECTION & TRACKING

The MOBtronic man-overboard system operates autonomously, instantly detecting and classifying a human falling overboard a vessel or structure.

Multiple sensor stations are mounted around the vessel or structure at strategic locations for instant detection and classification of a MOB incident activating alarms.

The intuitive command and control interface presents radar and video evidence for immediate confirmation and identification by the crew, while tracking of the victim at sea enables rapid response.

Following 7 years of rigorous testing in all weather conditions, sea states and vessel activities, MOBtronic is highly proven with a probability of detection (Pd) exceeding 95% and low nuisance system activation (<2 per week).

THE TECHNOLOGY

AUTONOMOUS MULTI SENSOR OBSERVATION TECHNOLOGY FOR MAXIMUM RELIABILITY AND EFFECTIVE OPERATION IN ALL CONDITIONS

HARDWAREEach station is a self-contained unit integrating micro radars, imaging sensors and electronics for data acquisition and analysis.

SOFTWAREPatent pending, proprietary signal processing algorithms detect, track and classify falling objects.

UIThe intuitive command and control interface presents radar and video evidence for immediate confirmation and identification.

5-LAYER DECISION HIERARCHY

Multiple radars simultaneously monitor volumes of interest - falling objects are detected and tracked

Radar track are confirmed by independent sensors

Behavior of confirmed tracks is analyzed (based on speed, fall direction, shape, strength) in order to flag a MOB track

Multi-sensor merging: MOB radar tracks are further classified based on their IR signature (object shape, dimension/range)

Visual confirmation by crew based on video replay; within seconds crew can confirm per video if detected object is a human

OPERATING PHASE #1 - MONITORING

Multiple sensors simultaneously monitor volumes of interest around the vessel.

OPERATING PHASE #2 – DETECTION & ANALYSIS

Falling objects are detected, with independent sensors confirming MOB incident and alerting crew. Behavior of confirmed track is analyzed (based on speed, fall direction, shape & strength) in order to flag a MOB track.

OPERATING PHASE #3 – TRACKING & SAR

Multi-sensor merging ensures that MOB radar tracks are further classified based on their IR signature (object shape, dimension/range), while live video feeds and tracking of the victim aids SAR operations.

EXTENSIVE TESTS – UNMATCHED PERFORMANCE

OPERATIONAL SINCE 2013. EXTENSIVELY TESTED IN VERY DIFFERENT CONDITIONS, ON SEVERAL PLATFORMS AT SEA, ALL YEAR AROUND AND IN THE MOST REMOTE OCEANS

Weather conditions: cold, hot, dry, humid, day, night, sunshine, cloudy, snow, no rain, light rain, heavy rain

Sea state: calm, moderate, severe (e.g. Atlantic crossings in the winter, North Sea)

Position: in port, at anchor, at dynamic positioning, underway

Activities: dock operations, deck activity (painting, washing,...), bunkering operations, tender lifting etc.

RESULTS
