ROAD CLOSINGSSecond Street will be closed to traffic from Liberty Street to Center Street at 9:30 am. Both Seconds and Third Streets, from Omar Street to Alder Street, will be closed to all vehicles at 11 am. Traffic needing to bypass Oak-land will be directed to detour along Fourth Street until the parade ends. Center Street will remain open until 12:45 pm. Memorial Drive also will be closed to through traffic from Fourth to Eighth Street. No one will be able to turn onto Fourth Street from Memorial Drive and there will be no access onto Memorial Drive from Fourth to Eighth Streets. Parking along the parade route, which includes parts of Second, Third & Alder streets, is prohibited prior to and during the parade.

Turn left onto MD 135 then turn right onto State Road 38 to Kitzmiller, turning right onto Main Street which becomes North Hill Road, turn right onto Upperman Road. Turn left onto Eagle Rock Road, then right onto Bethlehem Road, follow to the intersection of State Road 560 (Gorman Rd) turn right toward Loch Lynn Heights. Gorman Rd becomes E 3rd Ave in Loch Lynn Heights, turn right onto Paul Street then left onto MD 135. Turn right onto G Street which turns slightly right and becomes Deer Park Ave, continue onto Broadford Rd. Turn left onto Kings Run Road, then right onto Rt 219 North. Turn left onto Visitor’s Center Drive returning to the Garrett County Visitors Center.

Extended Fall Foliage Heritage Tour Highlights include:New Germany State Park, Monroe Scenic Overlook, Deep Creek Lake State Park & Discovery Center, Finzel Swamp Nature Preserve, and Carey Run Bird Sanctuary.

Follow US 40 west (The Historic National Road) to the light, turn left onto Chestnut Ridge Rd then follow to New Germany Road, turn left. Then bear left onto MD Rt. 495/Bittinger Road, turn right onto Glendale Road and return to MD Rt. 219 turn right to return to the Garrett County Visitors Center.

King & Queen

The 2013 Autumn Glory Royalty Court has been selected for the 46th Annual Autumn Glory Festival. This year’s King is Cameron Newman and the Queen is Taylor Swift.

Cameron is involved in the Northern High School Student Govern-ment, Band, Mock Trial, Model UN, Chorus and Men’s Choir and is Vice President of the Class of 2014. Cameron also volunteers with the Grantsville 4-H Club, the Garrett County Association of Student Councils and Emmanuel Lutheran Church Council and Vacation Bible School, among others.

Taylor participates in Southern Tennis, School Plays and the National Honor Society and serves as the Junior Class President, Student Council Representative and Prom Committee Chair. She also volunteers with the Overlook Judy Center, Our Town Theater, County Fair and Garrett County Community Action, among others.

The Autumn Glory King & Queen will be present at the Autumn Glory Kick-Off Reception to be held at Chanteclaire Farm on Wednesday, October 9 and they will be featured in the Autumn Glory Grand Feature Parade on Saturday, October 12. Besides having the honor of representing their home county during the Autumn Glory Festival and at other events, the Royalty Court will receive scholarship funds.
