2 Autumn/Winter 2003 A lgeos Ltd has now completed a deal to merge Footwear Findings Ltd of Somerton, Somerset with its own. Footwear Findings Ltd has been a supplier to Algeos for many years. We have always had a strong respect for its managing director Paul Audemars's management of the business and are confident we carry on his good work. Paul has decided to retire from active business life. He has built a very successful business in the last 10 years and we wish him well in the future. The opportunity too take-over the distributorship of PORON® Urethanes, the most important material being sold in our market segment, was just to good to miss. Although we have been selling PORON® Urethanes ourselves for many years, it will be pleasing to have the direct support of the manufacturer as they are currently introducing new products into their range. We have already met the Rogers Corporation both in Europe and the US and are very excited about the possibilities. The directors of A.Algeo Ltd feel this is a strategic move to strengthen their position in the Orthopaedic and Podiatry manufacturing market as well as opening up our business to a new customer base and direct access to major suppliers. It is our plan to fully maintain the Footwear Findings range of sheeting and components as they fit well into our existing ranges. Our first ‘new’ PORON® Urethanes product will be a dual-laminate of PORON® 94 and PORON® 4000. Marc has previously been responsible for the marketing of a number of Algeos key brands. He was also the driving force behind Algeos vast Internet presence and has been working hard over the past 18 months to provide improved product support materials. In his new role at Algeos, Marc will be managing and delivering marketing plans, customer communications and product support solutions, as well as continuing to develop Algeos Internet services. Algeos would also like to take this opportunity to welcome Judith Lea (Inventory Manager) and Nicola Cupples (Marketing Executive) to the company. Judith, comes to us from ‘Lancashire Purchasing Agency’ where she was she was responsible for inventory management and incoming goods. This year's Orthotic Techniciansfootball tournament in Gateshead
again was a great success. Renamed tothe 'Phil Jenkins Memorial Cup' toremember the tragic death of the sorelymissed Dacy's orthotist, all whoattended united to pay respect in aminute's silence before a ball waskicked.
Once the play did get underway, theAlgeos boys did not disappoint. In atightly contended contest all teamsshowed there was more to their craftthan Orthotic manufacture with somehigh-quality displays. But at the end ofthe day it was the boys from Algeos whotook home the silverware beating OrthoC. Fab in the final 2-1.
Algeos would like to thank all whoattended this year's tournament and arenow looking forward to next year'sevent that will take place in Blackpool.

July saw the return of Craig Payne tothe UK for the 2003 'All you need to
know about Foot Orthoses' seminars.
This year the three seminars covered thewhole of Britain. Glasgow in the North,Stoke in the Midlands, and Reading inthe South. A record number of peopleattended the seminars this year from awide variety of backgrounds, includingBio-mechanists, Technicians, Podiatrists,Orthotists and Physios.
Craig, from La Trobe University inAustralia, was very well received, andwe are sure all who attended will agreethat the content of his lectures wasexceptional.
