AVAILABILITY OF FUNDAMENTATL FACILITIES AND
SERVICES
5.1 INTRODUCTION
In this chapter the researcher has investigated availability of fundamental facilities and
services at tourist centers in Ahmednagar district, with help of field survey, local people’s
interview and questionnaire. The co-relationship between the services and the tourist places is
also analyzed in this chapter.
5.2 TRUST
All tourist centers in Ahmednagar district have a registered trust, and all types of services
were provided by these trusts. The trusty makes the decision of the provision of necessary
services to the development of the centers. The trusty collects annual income of a centre and
provides essential services. In the meeting of trusty, they discussed on various issues,
suggestions by local people and visitors. Thus the well trusties of tourist centers provide more
facilities to the centers and increase the annual income. They also call to concerned department
for meeting like P.W.D., Police Department, Telephone Department, State Transport Department
and local leaders. Most of the tourists attend the well managed centers of the district, where the
fundamental facilities and good services are provided. Nearly 70% tourist centers of the district
are well managing this. They are Shirdi, Shani Shingnapur, Deogad, Meherabad, Mohota
Devigad, Bhagwangad, Ralegan, Hiware Bazar, Bhandardara, Madhi, Shrigonda etc.
Remaining 30% of the centers of the district have limited services in the centers due to
communication gap between the trusty and local management problems. Therefore, the
participation of the visitors and local people is very limited at places like Nizarneshwar,
Pemgire, Kharda, Chondi, Ratangad etc. So the facilities or services are can be improved to
compeers other tourist centers. All over the improvement of tourist centers is more depend on
work of trusty.

5.16 CONCLUSION
It is revealed that the maximum services are available at the developed tourist centers in
study area. The services include transportation, parking, accommodation, toilet, bathrooms,
newspapers, book stalls, post office and telephone, mobile range, police protection etc. On the
contrary the third grade centers have limited services like transportation, parking, public toilets,
accommodation, electricity, medical facilities, shopping centers, newspaper, book stalls,
entertainment etc.
70 % of the tourist centers have authorized trust, because of that we can see well
management of these centers. 30 % of the tourist centers have not better trust or local people
committee so the services were limited on these centers. They are Chandbebi Mahal, Kharda
fort, Nighoj, Ratangad, Haishchandragad etc.
The electricity services are available at all tourist centers, except 3 centers. They are
Kalsubai Peak, Harishchandragad and Rtangad, because these areas are covered by dense forest
and hilly ranges. It is inconvenient to lay the electrical poles and supply electricity. Most of
these centers area is under protected forest department in Akole taluka.
Shirdi and Mahatma Phule Krushividyapith these two tourist centers were connected by
National highway. The majority of the tourist places such as Shani Shinganapur, Devgad,
Newasa, Ahmednagar, Shiddhatek, Meherabad, Randha fall, Prawara Sangam, Mula dam,
Bhandardara, Kalsubai peak have the provision of transport services. All these centers are
connected by state highway and remaining centers are joined by pucca district road and other
district roads and village roads. Pantpradhan GramSadak Yojana took vital role in this manner.
There is need to convert kaccha roads into pucca roads and construct railway line to join other
tourist centers of the district. Only 15% tourist centers have own traveling facility they are,
Shirdi, Madhi, Meherabad and Mohota Devi these centers have their own vehicles for service to
visitors or tourist. To visit other 85 % of the tourist centers, visitors or tourist use S.T. bus, Privet
vehicles or their own vehicles.
The police service is needed for the security of tourist centers and maintaining peace in
the centre. It is found that the village centers have no police station but at the time of fair and
festivals this service is available at all centers.
Other services like repairing of vehicles, petrol pump and recreation facilities were
essential; only 25 % of the tourist centers have not such facility. The village centers have the
essential services like drinking water, accommodation, public urinals and latrines, medical
facilities, shopping centers, bookstalls, newspaper stalls, police station, transportation and
communication facilities. All these facilities are provided by the local management committee
and government of Maharashtra State.
