The "Globally Harmonized System" (GHS) was established by the United Nations to create a unified system for identifying and communicating hazardous chemicals. In the U.S., OSHA set June 2015 as the deadline by which chemical manufacturers use compliant labels, followed by a deadline for distributors of December 2015 and end users by June 2016.

Six Required GHS Label Components:

1 Product Name or Identifier

2 Signal Word – indicates severity of the hazard

3 Pictograms – symbols to convey hazard information

(must have red diamond border)

4 Hazard Statement – describes the nature of the hazard

5 Precautionary Statement – measures to minimize or

prevent adverse effects (First Aid included)

6 Supplier Information: name, address, phone number

In case of fire: Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide for extinction.

STORAGE: Store locked up, in a cool, well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed.
