AVESAs an ave, I am the best potential mate a feathered friend

could want. We can live anywhere, and

will go to any distance (even 9000

miles) all for you!

My Home

• I live in an area that is all my own, to which I’m very protective of. I have a nest among the trees which will one day serve as an area to raise a family. My clade can live in a variety of climates and habitats, a perfect aspect for any new mates, and are found on all seven continents. All we need is a little land to call our own and we’re all yours!

What do I like to do?• I love to hunt insects and

provide for my family and nest. I am very passionate about acrobatic flying, I could teach you a few tricks! My biggest stress relievers are to sing and splash around in puddles, things anyone can enjoy. My annual migrations allow us to take a vacation every time the weather gets a bit chilly. You’ll never have to worry when traveling with me because of my navigational abilities.

GenealogyI come prepared with… • Specialized beaks of different sizes and shapes.• Fused, lightweight bones, often hollow to allow for long

flights and a light body weight. • Endothermic, I’m hot!• Four-chambered heart- can beat up to 20 times per second

(hummingbird)• High metabolic rates, large oxygen supply- ventilate lungs

through air sacs, oxygen rich air flows one way through lungs.

• My clade produces eggs to be nested and raised. Females are fertilized by males through copulation.

• Three part brain with a specialized song control region. Good memory and sight, better than my hearing.

• An excretory system that excretes a meal within 45 minutes

You won’t find this anywhere else!

• feathers – are a part of the epidermis, allow us to fly anywhere for you, and insulate to keep the heat going

• bills - pair of toothless mandibles, strong enough to crack all of the seeds and fruit you could want

• furcula – when flying, the furcula helps to keep the chest from compressing.
