Info Note 123 with information received from the Estonian authorities regarding an outbreak of HPAI of subtype H5N8 confirmed in captive birds, in Tallinn Zoological Gardens. Based on the risk assessment, in accordance with the provisions of the Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/687, derogations were granted by the Estonian competent authority from the killing of the remaining birds in the confined establishment and from demarcating a restricted zone around this establishment.

Info Note 73 with information received from the Czech authorities regarding six new outbreaks of HPAI of subtype H5N8 in poultry. Five of these outbreaks were confirmed in commercial holdings with duck parent flocks in the Hradec Králové, Central Bohemian and Pardubice Regions. All these farms belong to the same company. That company has more duck commercial holdings in those three regions. There is a standstill imposed on all those farms. The concerned company will be allowed to continue production only after thorough inspections and compliance with all requirements set by the competent authority (Info Note 76 (30/03/2021)

Info Note 72 with information received from the Danish authorities regarding an outbreak of HPAI of subtype H5N5 confirmed on 21.3.2021 in a backyard holding keeping captive birds, located in the town Øm in the municipality of Lejre in Zealand. In accordance with the provisions of Directive 2005/94/EC, based on the risk assessment, the Danish authorities have derogated from the establishment of protection and surveillance zones and the measures to be applied therein.

Info Note 69 with information received from the Danish authorities regarding three new outbreaks of HPAI of subtype H5N8 in poultry. Two of the new outbreaks were confirmed in farms where slaughter turkeys were kept in the municipality of Slagelse in Zealand. Both of these farms were contact holdings to the recently confirmed outbreaks in that area. The third new outbreak has been confirmed in a holding producing gray duck (game birds) in the town Illebølle in the municipality of Langeland (island), located in the southern part of Denmark.

Info Note 68 with information received from the Polish authorities regarding 14 new outbreaks of HPAI of subtype H5N8 confirmed in poultry between 11 and 17 March 2021. One outbreak has been confirmed in a commercial farm with ducks located in Żużela, municipality of Krapkowice, krapkowicki district, Opolskie voivodship. The rest of the outbreaks were confirmed in commercial farms located in neighbouring villages of the Opatówek municipality, in kaliski district, in Wielkopolskie voivodship. All but one of these farms were keeping palmipedes (11 duck farms and 1 geese farm).

Info Note 67 with information received from the Czech authorities regarding two new outbreaks of HPAI of subtype H5N8 in poultry. One outbreak was confirmed in a backyard holding with 35 poultry (chickens, ducks) in Počaply, in Příbram district. The other outbreak was confirmed in a holding with 406 poultry (chickens, turkeys, geese, and ducks) in Osvětimany, Uherské Hradiště district.

Info Note 66 with information received from the Polish authorities regarding confirmation of new outbreaks of HPAI of subtype H5N8 in poultry. One outbreak has been confirmed on 9.03.2021 in a commercial farm were 26614 slaughter turkeys and 114594 chicken broilers were kept, located in Borów locality, municipality of Opatówek, kaliski district, wielkopolskie voivodship. The other outbreak was confirmed on 11.03.2011 in a commercial farm where 38 140 duck breeders were kept, located in Wisznia Mała locality, municipality of Wisznia Mała, trzebnicki district, dolnośląskie voivodship.

Info Note 65 with information received from the Swedish authorities regarding four new outbreaks of HPAI of subtype H5N8 in poultry. Three of the new outbreaks were confirmed in organic laying hen farms, located in the Mjölby and Linköping municipalities. The other new outbreak was confirmed in a farm where 53200 parent poultry for the production of day old broiler chickens were kept, located in the municipality of Sjöbo.

Info Note 63 with information received from the Danish authorities regarding a new outbreak of HPAI of subtype H5N8, confirmed in poultry (slaughter turkeys), in the municipality of Slagelse in Zealand, in a contact holding of the previous outbreak in the area, located at less than 2 km distance from that holding. Info Note 93 on confirmation by the Netherlands of two outbreaks of HPAI in hobby flocks in the provinces of Utrecht and Zuid-Holland. The outbreak in the province of Utrecht was confirmed in Mijdrecht, in a flock with 300 birds of different avian species. Although the outbreak is not in a commercial holding, the Dutch competent authority decided to establish protection and surveillance zone according to Directive 2005/94/EC around the infected premises. The outbreak in the province of Zuid-Holland was confirmed in Zwartewaal, in a hobby farm with more than 250 birds. All birds were culled and destroyed in the infected holding.

In addition, the Dutch authorities are informing that infection with highly pathogenic avian influenza virus of subtype H5N8 was also detected in wild birds brought in at two bird rescue centres located in Rotterdam and Leiderdorp and two hobby locations, one located in Purmerend (province of Noord-Holland) and one in Wons (Friesland). Measures have been taken in order to prevent further spread, including the culling of the infected birds and birds at risk.

First outbreak was confirmed on 4 November 2020 in a non-commercial holding with 68 laying hens of different ages located on the island of Oland.
