Purpose: ACE events offer DOI bureaus and USFS employees, who function in aviation specific positions or possess aviation
management duties and responsibilities, with required aviation safety education and training to ensure we use aviation safely and
effectively. The ACE format provides employees flexibility to attend only those classes that are relevant/required for their
respective aviation position(s) or responsibilities. Most important, it provides field units with qualified, trained employees ready
to support agency operations.
Positions: Combined with online and other interactive methods, ACE provides coursework that fulfills aviation safety training
requirements set by the USDA Forest Service and Department of the Interior for various aviation positions. Position specific
required courses can be found in the following pages.
Example Schedules: Example schedules are shown for those individuals who wish to maximize their training during the week
of ACE. Information provided below includes required courses per position; highlighted courses are offered at ACE, (otherwise
the course is offered online through the IAT website); date, time, and room designations at the ACE location. Registration for ACE
is completed on the IAT website. Multiple offerings are available for most courses at ACE. We recommend registering early to
ensure you are in the classes you need and have the schedule that best fits your availability.
Information on other position required courses for Supervisors, Managers, and Aircrew Members can be found by clicking the link
