Service makes a community run. Without the gis and talents of a whole community, things don’t happen,

important relationships are not made and it just makes life better for all.

ANNETTE RESOPBranch Manager of Oshkosh

When I think of service, I think of helping people who are unable to help themselves, typically like the

military. I volunteer to get to know my community, co-workers and to be part of a team. It is an

opportunity for me to get to know my sta better as well in a dierent environment where I am not the boss.

AMY WAGNERAccounting Supervisor

I volunteer because I like the idea of helping people, whether it is someone who is homeless, has some sort of

mental disorder or someone living in another country who is struggling. I want to be the best person I can be in

order to help others that are in need.

ADAM HAVELMember Service Representative at Greenville

Being around people who volunteer and seeing the joy that people get out of it, will hopefully plant the seed for

the next generation. Sometimes it is a matter of people not knowing where to go or what to do...and letting them

know the smallest amount of time can make a huge impact. Personally, I was fortunate to be around many

great volunteers...that somewhat instilled in me the idea of giving back.

When you are a non-prot and your whole philosophy is based on “People Helping People” you don’t just stop helping at the front door. Our employees are engaged in so many charitable activities outside the credit union that we feel a great responsbility to enhance the opportunities for them to be involved and give back to their communities.

We have just under four hundred employees, and when we surveyed them, the overwhelming response to the question of where we should emphasize our corporate giving, was to focus on basic needs, such as shelters, pantries and helping those in need. at is why for 2017 we are continuing our major support of both St. John’s Homeless shelter in Green Bay and Homeless Connections in Appleton.

is past year, along with other employees, I have had the opportunity to do a renovation project for both homeless shelters. I grew up as a carpenter so these types of projects are near and dear to me as well as being fun. At St. John’s we repainted their reception area, as well as redoing a room for the employees to use as a break room. At Homeless Connections, they have osite apartments for their clients to move into, and we completely remodeled one including paint, carpet, new kitchen, new windows, and new bathroom. ese types of projects are not only greatly appreciated by the shelters, but they are great team builders for our sta.

I strongly encourage you to take a look at what our employees have done this past year and I encourage you to take part as well.

Very sincerely,

TOM YOUNGPresident

Our mission statement at Capital Credit Union emphasizes being the best advocates we can be for our members, but it does not stop there. It also states that being stewards of our Communities is of utmost importance. Why should that be a part of our mission?

“Doing the Right Thing”not just for our members.......

Aer the merger, there were a lot of questions about pretty much everything. From brand colors to business attire, it all went under the microscope. Being a post-merger new employee, fresh out of college, (greener than the cash we deal), I didn’t realize the chaotic new world I had signed up for...but I found one thing everyone had in common — a dedication to their communities.

rough my time working with the City of Eau Claire Economic Development Division and Downtown Eau Claire Inc., I had engaged in community projects at various city levels. What I found interesting is those who came to the table (guratively and literally) were those most passionate to change their communities. It wasn’t driven from self-interest, but because they had a vision. A vision for a better place, not recalling the good ol’ days, but a sincere, “we can and will make it better than ever.”

I see co-workers with this vision and passion all the time. It’s why the conversation about upgrading the volunteer program even started. We weren’t necessarily driving community change centered around a mission statement of advocacy (and fun)! We had become lazy and were condent we were doing plenty. We were content on the status quo. From conversations with many of you, I found that we were craving more. And so we nd ourselves here...

e NEXT LEVEL logo that you see throughout this publication is the new logo of our employee volunteer program, rebranded to show how we will never stop looking for that next step.

Many of the faces you see in here provided feedback, insight and energy to this program in ways that are not always tangible. I hope to keep taking your input, ideas and passions to create a stronger program each year. A passionate community leader and Director of the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce Pulse Young Professionals Network, Adrienne Palm, has a wonderful way of articulating this drive through cooperation...

“Say yes as often as you can. The people that are going to shape what we look like as a community are here now.”

ADRIENNE PALMINSIGHT November 2016

As long as you are excited and willing to push the conventional boundaries of what corporate volunteerism looks like, I will be happy to serve our communities on behalf of Capital Credit Union.

ank you for a wonderful 2016 and I am looking forward to taking us to the Next Level in 2017!

Sincerely,

LYDIA HARRERVolunteer Program Director

In 2016, Capital chose two area homeless shelters, Homeless Connections in Appleton and St. John’s Homeless Shelter in Green Bay, to partner with for the year. We’re proud to continue our partnership into 2017 through various projects, events and fundraisers.

TOP Camping site of the Rooop Fundraiser.

MIDDLE One department’s donations from the corporate-wide challenge.

BOTTOM Young Professionals from around the state tied blankets for the shelters as a part of a YP Boot Camp that Capital hosted in June.

In early summer, Capital proudly supported 12 graduating high school seniors by awarding $12,000 in scholarships!

Our scholarships are unique because we’re looking for individuals who are stewards of their communities, rather than those scholarships that are strictly

academic. In 2016, we had 117 applications from students from all over northeast Wisconsin. All applicants are members of Capital, and are already displaying

great acts of kindness through extraordinary levels of volunteerism. Each year we are impressed with the talent and compassion of our young members.

Neenah Police Department Bike Program DonationIn March of 2016, our Neenah branch was robbed. While no one was hurt, it was still a traumatic experience. e Neenah Police Department responded promptly

and put sta at ease. ey also were able to catch the thief within 24 hours. In thanks and appreciation, Capital donated funds for the

Neenah Police Department Bike Program to purchase 5 new bikes.

Door County Head StartOur Door County branches collected donations from members to purchase teddy bears for kids in Head Start of Door County. is program helps strengthen children, up to ve years old, who come from low-income families in cognitive, social and emotional development.

To help drive the Spring fundraiser, two Capital Vice Presidents spent the night in a tent on the roof of our corporate oce. ey were able to add about $2,000 to our total amount raised. Don’t worry, they did at least have bathroom access, and employeessent food up using a bucket system.

Page 5: AVP Financial Solutions

ABOVE In early May, the management team rolled up their sleeves and set out to work on an apartment at an osite extension of Homeless Connections. is involved repainting walls, removing carpet and cabinets, installing new appliances and more. is apartment is one of six that serve those who struggle with chronic homelessness.

LEFT Several employees headed over to St. John’s main facility to x up a couple rooms in late summer. We repainted and refurnished the waiting room to bring a sense of comfort to new clients coming in. We also gave life to a new volunteer and sta break room. A beach theme was chosen specically for the Executive Director, Alexia, as she mentioned she had never been to a beach and would love to go some day.

“Financial understanding has such a large impact in every adult’s life that starting that education in high school is hugely important. It is a pleasure to assist the Kimberly teachers in the lessons they are providing the

Local Runs & WalksWhile we’re passionate about charity work our employees also enjoy being physically active. Why not pair the two? In 2016, we showed our support by walking or running at events like these...

Humana Total Health Thriving Together AwardCapital received the Humana Total Health riving Together Award as a thank you for our commitment to building a culture of well-being and helping employees live healthier lives.

Door CANcer FundraiserOur Door County branches raised a total of $1,247 to assist local families ghting cancer by assembling baskets which were given away in a drawing.

Oconto River Kidsrough Packer Parking we raised $2,520 for Oconto River Kids. is organization provides outdoor activities for kids with life-threatening illnesses. Overall our Packer Parking raised $43,573 for local charities.

Cystic Fibrosis FoundationEmployees raised $406from one of our various charity jeans days, to assist the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation with their programs.

Happily Ever After Animal SanctuaryCapital partnered with Happily Ever Aer, a no-kill animal shelter on a number of projects in 2016. We’re physically close, (like right around the corner), which is perfect as we both hold our missions for serving our communities close to our hearts. It’s also great because we like to hang out a lot!

Our employees look forward to volunteering annually at HEA’s Beer and Biscuits fundraiser in Green Bay. ey assist with multiple rae games, merchandise booths and registration in order to make the event as successful as possible and run smoothly.

With HEA’s big move this year to a rst-class facility, we donated $3,000 from our Badger Parking fundrais-er, and pledged $2,500 to help with their building development.

In December one department stepped up and held a bake sale at our corporate oce to raise $1,810. New Hire Volunteer Initiative

HEA is less than 5 minutes from our corporate oce so it made perfect sense to partner with them for a new hire volunteer project. New employees are encouraged to volunteer from day one, and there’s no better way to start than with a loveable pet.

While volunteering in this capacity primarily helps pets in need, it also serves to develop team work, encourage community stewardship and ts into our mission statement...

...by having fun!

Saving Paws Animal Rescue Inc.Five branches came together to donate $250 to Saving Paws Animal Rescue in the Fox Valley.

Employee Match ProgramCapital has a donation match program for employees who donate to a non-prot they are passionate about. One great example in 2016, was an employee who gave a donation to 4 Paws For Ability and Capital was able to match $150 for this non-prot.
